No one covers this for dry/mature skin, specifically under makeup.
Once I tried Korean sunscreens, I knew I'd never go back. I was able to get the La Roche Posey in Europe and it was good too. But now with the Korean sunscreens that I can get here in Mexico (we're retired and roving the world) I've even gotten my husband never missing a day. And that was a major accomplishment!

I agree with you when it comes to sunscreen, Korean and European! I love the beauty of joseon.
And a Swedish one (I’m from Sweden) that is Evy mousse. They have a specific formula that lasts for more hours on the skin before you need to reapply 😊 I buy the blue one instead of the brown one that is for the face and it works wonderful.
I wish we could get the Evy sunscreen here. I bought it once from Selfridges.
I've been using EltaMD UV Clear Untinted for a couple of years. I've tried the tinted, but found it to be less rich and creamy than the untinted and can darken my foundation. I let spf set for 15 minutes before applying foundation. I prefer Beauty Blenders for foundation application, which prevents pilling. This sunscreen contains niacinamide and it really helps my skin with texture and anti-aging.
I wear the HERO sunscreen under my foundation. It gives my a slight glowy look too.
Very proud to an Australian when it comes to the FDA's approval for sunscreens here. They have come along way from only the white cast, sticky and smelly ones around even 10 years ago. ❤
The dermaveen is a nice chemical one for body
The Hada Labo is so good. It even works on my normal/dry skin especially in the summer.
I have the Centella Hyalucica, but haven’t tried it yet. It was rated #1 on either YesStyle or Stylevana.
Beauty of Joseon - all of them are awesome. Light elegant texture, natural light glow. Perfektion... and good UVA protection 👌

I absolutely love the R&R Tinted Mineral sunscreen. It plays so nicely under foundation.
I haven't gone back to the Purito sunscreen since it was reformulated. I used to love it.

Yeah, that R&R Sun Serum is nice! It's on the edge of too dark for me, and it's a bit shiny (so is the Purito!). But overall a real winner.
@user-ml9tc1hv1m also a bit dark for me as well, but I truly don't think it changes the foundation color. I don't find it to be sticky or tacky. 😊
I love R&R! It is a little shiny. Matte foundation helps.
I have dry skin, so it really works nicely for me, even under glowy foundation!@akabetty1
I just started the trader joes supergoop dupe, and I've liked it thus far.
The new Kiehl's serum spf is awesome under makeup and so is the La Roche Posay spf 100 melt in milk for my ghostly self.
Thanks Shelly, great post. Glad that some of the chemical sunscreens have changed ingredient choices. All of them used to burn and cause havoc for me. I have found many that I can now use. The PCalm water barrier 50+ is so nice under makeup, no burn or breakouts. Love this one.
The Peter Thomas Roth Cloud something spf moisturizer is fasntastic. So is the Supergood Unseen sunscreen. I hate the glow stuff but I was the Unseen as primer almost every day. I have sensitive skin with rosacea, super dry, over 45, it's perfect.
Another Korean superstar under makeup is Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airy-Fit Daily Sunscreen, in the yellow tube. They make a very nice all-mineral in a purple-grey tube, but I find it astringent thanks to the zinc oxide, so less dry-skin friendly. Seriously, give the yellow one a try--that one and the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica are my go-tos. Also want to shoutout Spanish brand ISDIN. Yes, Eryfotona Actinica is pricey, but the bottle is 100ml rather than the typical 50, and they are using a new DNA-repairing enzyme in their formula now. This lightweight titanium dioxide spf 50 fluid has protected me on many a Summer day in Spain!

Great selection! I just cleaned out my old sunscreens, too. I like the Etude house Mild Watery Light for summertime. I have combination skin. Beauty of Joseon is always good. I have to check out that Hado Labo one. I wasn't sure about the jar packaging but I do like their skincare.

I want to try 1004! I love Korean sunscreen. I'm enjoying HaruHaru and beauty of Joseon right now. I like R&R or even Elf whoa glow under makeup for tinted sunscreens. Just need to wear a matte foundation with those to tone down too much shine. 😊

I needed this video. I can’t wear sunscreen around my eyes cuz it burns so bad. I don’t mind the sunscreen smell reminds me of the beach lol.

I use US La Roche and havent had any issues. but I use the 100 spf milk one. I ride my bike for hours and need a lot of protection. I used to tan a lil with other sunscreens, but my face and neck are still pale even after riding for hours.
Thank goodness we can get nicer LRP sunscreen here in Australia - my fave is the shaker one (chemical) in summer as more light weight, but fave is the beauty of josen sunscreen love it 😻

Thank you for your reviews, I especially love your Foundation Fest ones! I have maturing skin and the way my skin looks is the priority in my makeup routine. I definitely prefer Korean sunscreens, as they are way ahead in their skincare technology. The ones I am using these days (besides the Skin 1004 Madagascar) are the Numbuzin #1 Sun Essence, Haruharu Black Rice Moisture Sunscreen, and Skinfood Berry Moisturizing Sun Cream. These feel lovely on the skin and perform great as makeup primers.
I use the SCINIC Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF50+
Wears beautifully under any makeup I layer on top!
I really love the moisturizing sunscreen from Black Girl Sunscreen for US-based ones. It is unfortunately only SPF30 but it is really really moisturizing and just feels so nice on the skin. Plus it doesn’t pill or act up under makeup. They do have a SPF50 sunscreen but it has added fragrance so I’ve personally never tried it but could be good as well.
If you like centella, you will love the Iunik centella sunscreen. It's similar to the SKIN1004, but a tiny bit more hydrating and soothing, it has 49% centella. It's not heavy, it literally feels like a drink of water for your face, if that makes sense
I’d like to add the Isehan Kiss Me Mommy sunscreen and the Australian Gold mineral tinted face sunscreen (though I don’t use the full amount- it gets thick/ dries quickly- mostly use it like a tint/ foundation).
All great suggestions! However can I add Beauty of Joseon? Works great under my foundation and can get from Stylvana.

You can get the LRP UVMune 400 from Care to Beauty or French Pharmacy. Both deliver to the US, both only sell authentic product.
I also love Korean sunscreens, but LRP products (the American ones and the Euro ones) aggravate my Rosacea and turn me sooo red. It's too bad because I think they make some of the best sunscreens.

Are the inorganic/chemical sunscreens in Purito, etc, reef safe? I don't mean have they been banned yet. I mean are they safe. I'm looking for alternatives to sunscreens that aren't banned but are known reefkillers.
A brand being cruelty free doesn't tell anything as I find known reefkillers in those sunscreens a lot.

Yes!! The moisturizer especially - I don't buy the US one because the sunscreen ingredient in your version there is so much better. I have one jar left that I got in Ireland and well then I'm just going to have to fly back over and get more (as if I need an excuse to go back to Ireland).

Can I just say I hate the smell of sun screen I find if I have it near my mouth I end up with a mouthful of the nasty stuff. I also hate all scented products for the face. How many of these products are unscented? Currently using Beauty of Joseon spf 50.
There is no smell to the Skin 1004 susncreen.
Is the Purito fragrance-free?
