- La papa rellena es un plato típico de muchos países latinos, pero ésta receta es de mi islita, Puerto Rico! El relleno que utilicé aquí es corned beef pero puedes rellenar a su gusto con carne molida de cerdo, pollo, pavo, cordero, o res.
Stuffed potatoes is a native dish from many Latin countries, but this recipe is from my island, Puerto Rico! The filling I used is corned beef, but you can use whatever is to your liking such as ground beef, pork, turkey, chicken or lamb.

Oye papá, un consejito cuando las vayas a freír, usa una cacerola profunda llena de aceite para que la papa entera esté cubierta por ejemplo un deep fryer me encanta tu canal!

That's a great idea using the ice cream scoop. I also like that you call them like I do "Papa Rellena" When people say" Relleno de Papa" that implies that something is filled with potato so "Papa Rellena" makes more sense to me because it implies potatoes filled with something, in this case with meat. What would you say? Agree or disagree?

If you mean boiling the potatoes them you boil until fork tender.
And if you mean frying the potatoes ball then you do it until golden brown. Hope this helps 😁

Es la costumbre del Boricua que diga relleno de papa, si supieras que dije en un kiosko dame papá rellena y se quedaron en loading (pensando) y me dijeron ahh lo que tú quieres es relleno de papa y le dije eso mismo jajajajajaja!!! Como si yo estuviera diciéndolo mal jajaja así que lo bautizamos relleno de papa y se quedo relleno de papa, así que mi querido hermano boricua no te preocupes por decir Relleno de papa lo es la costumbre eres Boricua!! Abrazos y que VIVA PUERTO RICO 🇵🇷

Love your presentations ! You make it look like child's play. My wife and I tried doing them several times and screwed them up several times lol. I guess eventually we'll get the hang of it. Your way seems quite simple. One thing that we never did was chill the potatoes after we boiled them. Here on YT folks use different methods and ingredients. I'm so happy to have found your channel- I made your Arroz con Pollo the other night and my boys ate the ENTIRE pan. No leftovers!! :-D I saw this recipe and got to thinking: I was wondering if you could do a Deviled Crab recipe? I know here in Tampa that's a big Cuban treat but not everyone does them well and some I've had don't even seem to have crab in them! Some of the local restaurants do Papas Rellenas but this recipe looks phenomenal! Thank you for sharing everything- it has been a treat learning from you.

They do this in a lot of Latin countries. It's actually from Peru. I use basil, parsley and fresh orégano when I mash my potatoes and roll them in egg wash, seasoned breadcrumbs mix with a little cornmeal. I like corn beef sounds like it would taste good. Corn beef and potatoes are a classic together. But I'm Puerto Rican and always had it with ground beef or cheese.

I Love watching you cook. But can we freeze them after we assemble them?
Jenny Regester, yes, I use wax paper to wrap them (just don’t do the egg wash and flour)and then you can freeze them, put them in a zip lock try taking as much air of the bag as possible with crushing them... I have froze them for up 3 months because I just make it for myself and I don’t consistently eat them... Empanadas can also be made in advance and freeze 🥶 them as well...

How much time do you have to boil the potato’s? I heard you can make this with boxed flakes potato’s is that true? And if that is true how do you do it and can you make a video on it and tag me. Thank you. Keep up the beautiful work
Hi Leslie! Boil the potatoes until you insert a fork or knife and it feels soft. Personally, I wouldn't use the boxed potatoes (it will never taste the same as real potatoes). Make sure that before making the potato balls, the potato dough is cold. First, leave the dough outside until it is completely cool, then store in the refrigerator until the dough is cold. After that you can start assembling the potato balls and they won't break when frying. Hope this helps😊🙏
