What a rare quality of singing rarely seen these days. No equipment and gimmicks, just beautiful young voices praising God in harmony with one another. Such a blessing!
Equipment and gimmicks are part of my generation's self expression, we are allowed to be expressive with what we are provided. You have no right to define for another's what is valid or valable means of self expression. No one told beethoven to not put a Tuba, Contrabassoon or choir with and orchestra, those were all innovations of the time.
My choir director brought this arrangement to us when I was in college. It was such a beautiful arrangement of this piece that we all loved it. It wasn’t until the the night before our concert that he told us about his wife’s passing that week due to a long battle with cancer. The poor man broke down and it was clearly a reason he chose the piece. I don’t think a single one of us sang a piece more clearly, beautifully, or heartfelt before or after that night.
This small choir practice room has such a dry sound signature that it exposes every single voice in the room. Everyone has to be on point, no mistakes, and it also highlights in excruciating detail each little musical direction the conductor shows. They're following him so precisely that, as a singer, I can practically see the director's hands in front of me, and I feel the direction in my body even though I'm not even singing along. Bravo all.
This arrangement is so still and beautiful ...It is an embrace as you listen to it ... Many hear this song as sadness; but I hear the peace after a storm, being guided to safety, protected, loved, renewed . . . Safely having crossed the peak of that mountain, moving forward now holding God's hand ...
Look at their faces when they sing. They love this as much as we love listening. It takes us through a series of emotions ranging from happy to sad. The whole audience should be in tears when this is sung…whether at rehearsal or performance. Nicely done
It's so beautiful they began in the key B Flat major, and along the time, they naturally rest in A major. One of the most peaceful and comfortable sounds i heard in my life. God bless you!
Since I was introduced to the Aoelians back in high school in the 80s the quality of their sound, their ministry has never diminished. May God continue to bless all the. Members of the past, present and those to come.
@@prayerpower1585 - I think "The Hope Andro Show" did mean "dissonance" - The complex chord clusters that are in this arrangement create BEAUTIFUL "ear bending" dissonances that only enhance the resolutions of those dissonances. ☺️
Innovative, velcro harmony, resonant, elegant, sustained, serious: even scholarly, architectural in design and execution, not plaintive; pleading like the original: more assured, exacting sure. Exceedingly lovely.
This was my grandfather's favorite hymn as he pastored for more than 65 years. Thank you Oakwood U Aeolians for blessing my soul with this masterpiece.
I've only listened to this 1000 times...I've shared it on my social media! voices are like Angels, I imagine this is what the heavenly Angels must sound like...
I am at a season in my life where i am tired and weak and I need God to recreate me into the women I need to be. I just came across this song this morning, it sent me into straight prayers and worship. I never knew that this is what I needed. Thank you so much, you guys are truly anointed by God 💛💛💛
I listen to this particular piece at least 5 maybe 7 times a day. This piece is the reason why I want to go back to school to get my degree in music education
This song never fails to bring me to tears no matter how many times I listen. It's like my heart gets pulled out of my chest. Pretty much the most incredible choral arrangement I've ever heard and an absolutely stellar performance.
I have been with groups who have done this arrangement for years, and I’ve NEVER heard better. Pronunciation is crisp and extremely easy to understand. Use of dynamics is FABULOUS. Congratulations. What wonderful communication!!
What with everything happening in the world right now, the last part of my senior year was recently cancelled. I sang this song with my choir last October and it keeps coming back to me in all my sadness and confusion. Whether I'm listening or singing along, this particular recording brings me more comfort than ever before, and I will always be grateful for the inspiration and reassurance it gave (and still gives) me. Thank you so much to everyone involved in sharing this music with the wider world.
“Precious Lord, Take My Hand” Lyrics Precious Lord, take my hand Lead me on, let me stand I'm tired, I’m weak, I’m lone Through the storm, through the night Lead me on to the light Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near When my light is almost gone Hear my cry, hear my call Hold my hand lest I fall Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home When the darkness appears and the night draws near And the day is past and gone At the river I stand Guide my feet, hold my hand Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home Precious Lord, take my hand Lead me on, let me stand I'm tired, I’m weak, I’m lone Through the storm, through the night Lead me on to the light Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
I’m in my rooming crying… this was my grandmother’s favorite song. We lost her in 2019 and this how I wanna believe she was ushered into heaven. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.
As I am writing from Tanzania, am really blown away by this crafted arrangement. I love music and this song brings heaven to earth. Keep it up my dear brothers and sisters. I love you all. Blessings.
If I put it in my will that I want the Aeolians to sing at my funeral celebration, would that work? Of course, it would be one of the next several generations--unless God calls me sooner than I expect--but I'd love to go to Glory to the sound of your voices. You make Heaven seem very near.
I first discovered this reharmonization 21-22 years ago, when it was presented to me as a piece for the VA All-State choir. I’ve been looking looking for this arrangement ever since, for about 22 years…, and was nearly brought to tears by your performance. Thank you. God bless your director and i hope all of you continue to do great work.
Outstanding Y'all...can't really find the words to express how moved I am. Brings back some of the greatest memories of my life singing in the Morris Brown College Concert Choir 1989-1993.
Here I am back again for this, just love watching the pure love and appreciation for the sound they're making on their faces! Cannot get enough of this! Thank you Oakwood.
Singing this tomorrow morning in church. I pray we come even close to this sublime sound. Many voices, singing as one, blended perfectly and felt in the soul. God bless!
I would have loved to be in that room at that moment. Listening through my phone does not do this beauty of harmonies justice. If I were there I would've closed my eyes as I listened and let the warmth of sound wrap my body like a blanket.
Encore!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 What a beautiful presentation! The annunciations, tones, vocal control and superb blending and it’s all encapsulated in sophistication!! And Acapella? Y’all straight clowning!! I love it!!!
Sometimes words fail me when I hear truly beautiful music such as this. The quality of their voices, the emotion that is put into their performance, just truly inspiring and God given
Wow how rare is this form of power and beauty! In a world of loud and screaming noise, this is healing ointment to my soul. Thank you so much dear young people.
I’ve listened to this about a kajillion times, but tonight it has new meaning. My niece has COVID, is on a ventilator, and they may take her off the ventilator tomorrow bc there is no hope.
Lovely singing, Precious Lord I need you to take my hand and lead me home. Sometimes it is so dark, and lonely in those times Lord I need you Lord to come near to take my hand and guide my feet and hold my hand. Beautiful.
Wow wow wow Thank you to whoever took the time to upload this video. I needed to hear this and see this today. We are all mirrors of each other and I want to express gratitude to anyone who needs it today. Thank you!
You are an inspiring group of singers!!! Very musical and so "easy" sounding. Wonderful placement, incredible intonation, rhythmic accuracy. awesome phrasing and text stress. MUAH! Love you all! I soooooo enjoyed playing for this for my students! They said. "Wow, so THAT is what are consonants are supposed to sound like!" :)
. OH TAKE ME GOD TO HEAVEN . . . . on these waves of love. So delicate, so deep, so rich, every note, every word intentionally and lovingly placed . . . . amazing . . .
The consonants. The singular breathing. The dynamics. The attention to detail. Spellbound.
Their shadow vowels are absolutely stunning.

“Precious Lord, Take My Hand”
Lyrics
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near
When my light is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
When the darkness appears and the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
