I not very sure if epics do not have chance for critical damage with new combat overhaul, once it hit around 300 damage with spirit bomb, once with 900, devs said they do not, so how so big difference in damage from spirit bomb?
Monsters cannot crit; this was specified in the original CO google doc because they felt it would be unfair - damage variance can come down to a lot of things; particularly if you have multipliers that have a chance to proc (Adept in this case) but there's also innate damage variance just in general - what the exact amount is I don't know However, in the case of 900 -> 300 It's probably a case of Shield of Gold being up and Adept proccing at the same time since those are the only real variables that could have caused that.
