"That's proper skinny! I've never seen it from the outside! It's like a special effect! Oi, matchstick man!" I seriously envy how thin Tennant is, I could never fit into that skirt. And when is this going to come out on DVD so we in the US can own it? So good! Tennant and Tate! They could have their own variety show! With Matt Smith as a frequent guest..."
I played the part of David Tennant (Benedick) in our local theatre group. We staged it in Dutch and it was just as witty. Though, the part is not easy to play, I can say. But David did a brilliant job :D
What I love about his acting in comedy, and he confirmed this in an interview (forget which one), is that he doesn't play the role, the character, trying to be funny. He plays the character as experiencing sincere, true emotions, even if the reason for those feelings (the dialogue or situation) to us, is silly or absurd. Like at 1:21, in this close-up he shows Benedick looking really hurt and upset at what Beatrice is saying, which actually makes it funnier.
Thank you David Tennant you actually made me laugh you look like the iconic Miss Piggy I know Catherine Tate doesn't look like Kermit the Frog at all thank heaven for that maybe her version of Superman or Supergirl I don't know which but either way the two of you make me laugh and believe me I need that badly I know I need that bad laughter really is the best medicine so even though you don't play Doctor Who anymore you still know how to administer the best kind of medicine laughter
He is the man that looks like Miss Piggy in shorts and a pair of sunglasses dancing around like the biggest buffoon That Ever Walked on legs I can it be knots
Beatrice and Benedict dear usual are so anyway to other it's not even funny at this point I'm just explaining time and yes I just use the Doctor Who metaphor so who cares from using it anyway you think I grow up compare added my own on that last part seriously dude seriously Benedict actually trying to get me to believe that you don't have the hots for Beatrice and Beatriz you're trying to get me to believe that you don't have the hots Reddit do you think I'm stupid do you think I have a neon sign on my forehead that says reappear on stupid oh not stupid Richie made a good kick in the bottom are good map bottom the both of you I mean a royal smack bottom that means a smack in the ass American version of it
I know most people will disagree, but I just don't like Catherine Tate in this role. She seems like she's trying too hard, is wooden, emphasizes dialogue in odd places, and is just--not very funny. Maybe I'm unfairly comparing her to David Tennant, but her acting just isn't very convincing here.
David in that outfit is hilarious and all, but can we also take a moment to appreciate Catherine Tate in that suit, because wow.
Right? The very sight unleashes something in me, she looks GREAT.
David and Catherine really nailed these roles! Love this play!!
So...this is what the Doctor and Donna do in their spare time...
Yep!
How do they not laugh at each other 😂😂😂
Benedick, do you need some aloe vera? 'Cause you just got burned.

Yes, the Muppets were quite popular in the 80s. Wham, Princess Di and Michael Jackson are also represented. ;)
