  • We had an incredible day at Mason Elephant Park! We got to feed the elephants, wash them and Al even went swimming with one! This is a place YOU MUST CHECK OUT if you're in Bali, the whole family will enjoy it!!!
    MASON ELEPHANT PARK INFO:
Initiated in 1997 and set within the misty hinterlands of Ubud, the Mason Elephant Park was created in response to the devastating situation in Sumatra where rampant deforestation and poaching has dwindled the native elephant population. Our multi-award winning park is Bali’s only dedicated elephant rescue facility, and is home to 32 critically-endangered Sumatran elephants, 6 of which were born here. The park provides guests with the rare opportunity to interact and learn about these gentle giants while giving our healthy herd a comfortable and safe environment to call home.

Any place that lets you ride an elephant is just instantly a bad place.. Do just 3 minutes of research, its really not that hard. These gentle giants are not supposed to even be trained to put a flowwer ornament over your heads.. A proper sanctuary would only let you bath with them and let you partake in the feeding, and or FOLLOW THEM while THEY are out and about walking.
As soon as they have to be at a certain spot for your entertainment, it goes too far. I may sound extreme, but for real.. Think about it.

Mannn I know I understand but … we live in a complicated world
And these days in most countries if someone not protecting them raising them and all that. Others will hunt them for the “fun” of it.
      It’s a sad 😞
We didn’t know and simply tried to show support to a place that was closed for two years and managed to keep the animals in good health and even had few new borns.
Everything was done with best intention

@@travelisepic So you're wrong on all your points. No one here is protecting them. Look at the elephant sanctuaries in Thailand. There, the elephants are living in peace with torture. These animals can live freely or they can be beaten into submission so they perform and give rides. Also, the animals that are hunted are usually the sick ones or the rogue elephants that kills people or attacks villages. The Safari that sell an elephant hunting license makes money for the local villages to live on.

    Why do I love Indonesia?
You know, Mother Nature in this country is the mastermind behind major natural disasters that can hit many countries and cause many fatalities, not just 1 or 100 times, but more than that. I will provide that information.
Imagine, in 1 city alone there are at least 100 tourist attractions (In 1 city). It's really crazy, no one knows Indonesia 100%. Because there are so many misunderstandings with tourist attractions in Indonesia. Even the sea in Indonesia has something like the Bermuda Triangle and natural attractions that make no sense. Because when we go to Indonesia the people are confused and have to make plans where we are going.
When I was a teenager, at the high school level I always studied and read books about nature in a library located in Europe. I found a book that said "Tambora The Years Without Summer" then also found a book that said "Krakatoa". Both of these books tell about nature and its brutality at the same time. Not only that, in the book it is explained that the incident is located in 1 country but in different regions. Was it the only tragedy that was written by the International? No, there is a lot of history of major natural disasters in Indonesia that are written internationally.
I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. Total natural disasters in Indonesia (8 Years Calculation) :
    >Year 2022 = 1.421 (Period Jan - Jun).
    >Year 2021 = 3,058
    >Year 2020 = 2,925
    >Year 2019 = 9,375
    >Year 2018 = 3,397
    >Year 2017 = 2,341
    >Year 2016 = 2,342
    >Year 2015 = 1,682
Total natural disasters for 8 years = 26.541 (This is the most violent, brutal and deadly category in the world because of calculations in 1 country, not Chile/Japan).
I give a description of just one example of a strange place in Indonesia (There are still many that you can find).
Imagine that in Indonesia there are more than 262 waterfalls (from an estimated 1000 waterfalls in Indonesia) whose shapes are really cool, different, multilevel and unique.
My friend asked : "Which waterfalls from this country did you visit?".
I answered : "This is all in one country, namely Indonesia".
My friend reaction : "It is impossible for this many waterfalls with different shapes and some are even strange to only exist in 1 country".
Me : "The nature there is very crazy which is formed from a big natural disaster, just imagine a waterfall above a volcano and a waterfall on the beach".
Is it just about waterfalls? Oh no, there are so many other things that are strange and difficult to explain in Indonesia.
I became very interested in the history recorded by the International and finally I bought a textbook on natural disasters in Indonesia written by European researchers, scientists and historians. It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. This is not only about beauty but also about history which has a huge impact on many countries in the world. Nature in Indonesia is not only beautiful, but also very unique, different, diverse, strange and great. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history. That is nature in Indonesia, it has very different class categories.
If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. For me personally, a visit to Indonesia is the most memorable for me because I have visited 51 natural tourist attractions. Maybe I will come back again in 2024 to visit 109 tourist attractions, I have to save first.
List of natural tourist attractions in Indonesia that I have visited.
    1). Krakatoa.
    2). Tambora.
    3). Aceh Museum Tsunami 2004.
    4). Weh Island.
    5). Lematang Lampung.
    6). Ranau.
    7). Anyer.
    8). Ujung Kulon.
    9). Lancang Island Jakarta.
    10). Rian North Kalimantan.
11). Yellow Land. (I forgot this name).
    12). Mesas Cave.
    13). Gamalama.
    14). Sulamadaha.
    15). Ngurtafur.
    16). Kupang.
    17). Bali Island.
    18). Karang Bolong.
    19). Setu Babakan.
    20). Bangkalan Madura Island.
    21). Limboto.
    22). Saronde Island.
    23). Bogani Nani Wartabone.
    24). Arfak Papua.
    26). Jomblang Cave.
    27). Karang Taraje Sawarna.
    28). Lito Duyonumo.
    29). Tammasapi.
    30). Dukono.
    31). Tonjong Canyon.
    32). Curug Badak.
    33). Kyura River.
    34). Alif Stone Park.
    35). Bono Wave.
    36). Banyuwangi.
    37). Halmahera.
    38). Serang Banten.
    39). Banda Neira Maluku.
    40). Lakey Beach.
    41). Puncak Bogor.
    43). Mangku Kodek.
42). And Others (Up to 51 natural attractions, because I forgot the names).
But that's all only 2% of all tourist attractions in Indonesia, it's very crazy.
If you go to Indonesia to at least visit 30 natural attractions and prepare extra money and a healthy body condition, then you will find that Indonesia has a very different class. Going to Indonesia is better to explore, adventure and learn. Not just a vacation or honeymoon, you will lose if it is only for a vacation or honeymoon. Trust me, I'm typing all this because I've experienced it myself. Indonesia is like a giant playground where we are the players in it. Even when I told my experience to Indonesia to my son, his reaction was "Could there be such a place in the world? It's like a place for witches in a movie series".
Indonesia is a complete and very diverse tour package in large quantities. Even on trains, buses, airplanes, and ships, you can see different views from one country. It's really crazy, like going to another country but still in the same country. Imagine in 1 city and even then there are many tourist attractions. What about Indonesia as a whole? Millions of tourist attractions. Therefore, many people misunderstand tourism in Indonesia because it is too much and varied. Then you will find something unique and strange, at least go on 30 different trips to tourist attractions in Indonesia and I am sure you will have a much more extraordinary experience and lasting memories.
List of places I want to visit in 2024 in Indonesia :
    1). Mature Kaladan.
    2). Kikik Waterfall.
    3). Haratai Loksado Waterfall.
    4). Liang Tapah.
    5). Kakaban Island.
    6). Gitgit Waterfall.
    7). Canggu.
    8). Nusa Dua.
    9). Batu Lawang.
    10). Setu Patok.
    11). Setu Sedong.
    12). Mangroves Jakarta.
    13). Bengkulu Mangroves.
    14). Bukit Kaba.
    15). Way Hawang Bengkulu.

    23). Semeru.
    24). Komodo Island.
    25). Curug Parigi.
    26). Pacitan.
    27). Bangka Belitung.
    28). Batam.
    29). Labuan Bajo.
    30). Sianok Canyon.
    31). Meru Betiri.
    32). Sentani.
    33). Wafsarak Waterfall.
    34). Wasur.
    35). Bihewa Nabire Waterfall.
    36). Kali Kaca.
    37). Kali Suci.
    38). Api Abadi Madura Island.
(And the remaining 109 natural attractions I have not applied, because I am still looking for information on which tourist attractions I will visit in 2024). You can check the photos of the places I mentioned on Google, the natural attractions in Indonesia are crazy.
Important note : Always be extra careful when visiting nature in Indonesia, I am talking about nature because recently a foreign tourist died at the Mount Batur in Bali. That's not all that happened, I just gave one example. Remember, nature in Indonesia has 2 different sides at once.
If these 2 sides are combined it will be "DEADLY BEAUTY". The depiction of nature in Indonesia is like a big Queen who has the most beautiful, strange, unique, diverse, interesting and legendary forms. However, if the Queen Mother Nature in this country awakens from her slumber, then there will be unforgiving brutality against anyone in its path, it will cause a lot of damage, loss of life and can even have an impact on other countries.
Indonesia was originally not an archipelago but a land called SUNDALAND (Western side of Indonesia) and SAHULLAND (Eastern side of Indonesia). However, 70% of the land was sunk into the ocean.
Did you know if we look at the map of the Indonesia territory, it's like a person / Jinn who sleeps on his back.
    Sumatra : Feet.
    Kalimantan : Stomach.
Jawa, Bali, Nusa Tenggara : Spine.
    Sulawesi : Bosom.
    Maluku : Neck.
    Papua : Head.
    Other small islands : Acne.
Not only that, Indonesia has more than 500 volcanoes = Active, inactive and underwater. (Overall).
QUEEN MOTHER NATURE IN INDONESIA 10/10 (Mother Nature in Indonesia when viewed 100% is very colossal).
Nature in Indonesia is really insane very different class categories, there is a saying that says :
"The more beautiful you look, the more dangerous you are".
(Indonesia is the throne Queen Mother Nature).
There is even a study that has visited 400 tourist attractions in Indonesia and it is only 10% for him. Tourist attractions in Indonesia are predicted to be more than 4,800,000 Understandably, from Aceh to Papua (in 1 country) is expensive. It costs the same as you flying from Mexico to Argentina or Egypt to Dubai or Jakarta to South Korea or Spain to Belarus or India to Turkey.
Indonesia is HEAVEN and HELL which collide with each other simultaneously. Has 2 different sides, representing real life. Traveling to Indonesia is not just about a relaxing and exciting travel experience, it is much deeper and more than that. You can even feel disappointed, emotional, confused, sad, tired, give up, smile, laugh, afraid, goosebumps, satisfied and others at the same time.
If we pay attention, the island of Bali is shaped like a very similar Pindad P2 pistol (perhaps many don't know one of these facts). The information I provide is all facts, but I am not fully telling you guys. That's all my experience when I visited Indonesia, so many interesting things in Indonesia.

Please don't encourage people to go here!! Mason Elephant Park claims to be ethical but its treatment of elephants is awful. As of now, there aren't any ethical Elephant rescue parks in Bali, and if you really want to get up close with elephants then Thailand is a much better place for it.

To be honest I don’t know how tortured they are there or not as far as Thailand… they are extremely trained over there to do all kind of tricks pretending they stepping over people and playing ball games and stuff I would believe they go through a much tougher training there if anything.
But what I do believe is that in Mason elephant park they have a level of love and care for these animals and it’s not just money behind it.
You gotta remember BALI was closeddddd for two years and this place is still open.
Meaning people paid so much money to remain these beautiful animals alive.
Walking into mason park is extremely inexpensive and Considering the last two years. This place spending fortune taking care of these animals. I trully don’t know how they are being treated but I have to believe it is safer there than being out there and getting killed for their horn or skin or just for fun.
These animals eat 250kg of food a day each and taking it all out. Can you imagine the amount of work to raise them plus making sure their health is good. Vaccines and whatever.
I’ll have to believe there is more good than bad in this place. We can’t judge so fast.
No one in this world is fully free.
Nether humans. We have to work to make money to pay for food etc
It’s a deep and kind conversation but I won’t jump to judge anyone too fast.
I mean if they close the place tomorrow. Where those animals will go ?

@@travelisepic You're right! There are a lot of places in Thailand where elephants are treated horribly, but unlike Bali, there are a few actual elephant sanctuaries. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Happy elephant home sanctuary, and Boon Lott's, are just a few of the great elephant sanctuaries in Thailand.
The difference between those legit sanctuaries and Mason park is that they don't allow tourists to ride on the elephants, and they are NEVER chained up. The elephants there are 100% free-roaming.
I know you said you don't want to judge too fast, so I encourage you to do your own research on how unethical it is to ride elephants. If you're going to be recommending places to an audience, it's important to fully research it and know exactly what you're encouraging.

@@travelisepic I'm glad you didn't react rather took the time to share your perspective. Respect that.
I see your point about bali being closed for two yrs and that there is some level of care in this particular place.
However, I was referring to all sorts of torture training that's rampant in animal entertainment. In Thailand they make elephants paint t shirts and people go gaga.. I mean, is that animal getting any joy. They are not given food and water so that they comply. We need to see that. If they did, why don't they do it in their natural habitat? My point is we need to see the pain behind these tricks they perform. To make them obey, they do go through a lot.. Again I ve not been to this particular resort so can't say it's the same there but generally that's the truth.
Also, I did not intend to hurt you with my comments. I just feel a little sad when at times I see people promoting circues, rides, I've seen it.. Wounds . It's sad. I'm glad you took the time to share that it is not grimly there.
