I remember seeing a couple of these when I was a kid. I'm a little older than this truck, but I don't look nearly as good. I would put this up there with one of the best-looking trucks, ever. Sweet to see such a restoration.
My dad drove these Macks, day cabs for a large co. fright haulers. in n. Ohio. They called them cherrypickers. I guess because they were so tall. They had air starters. You could hit em anytime and would scare the datlights out of ya. Dont know the years but they were 54 to 57s.

Mack wrote the book on trucks; World War 1, WW2, fire trucks, dumpers, ciment mixers and even diesel locomotives!
I think the plan at the time was to make it a dromedary unit. See my '52 Bullnose Kenworth video for an example. It's up on UA-cam.
Has Mack always made their own motors? If not when did they start?

Based on the frame I don't think it had a 5th wheel.

real trucks aint bought they be built from lots of trucks
