As others have said, this is a move coming from the EU, forcing standardisation of cables. A good move, like you said. Apple actually fought this tooth and nail because 'it limits progress' which is obviously horse manure. It just mrans that if a new standard that's actually better comes along, like say usb-c was over micro-usb, brands need to share these standards with each other and convince each other, or work together to create them in the first place. Which is exactly what happened when apple co-developed usb-c. Apple are just salty that this makes it harder to sell premium addons.
TLDR: USB C is the biggest difference. Plus USB C version has Dust resistance & if you use it with vision pro headset it can play audio at very high bit rate.
I would change my recently bought pro 2's with the new pro 2's just for getting the 24bit sound, if it would play that bit-rate together with my iphone..
@@tomwebb10 apparently it seems that they're only able to that together with the upcomming vision pro's because of the H2 chip, which would enable 20-bit (and not 24), 48 kHz lossless audio
I can't believe I am finally lightening cable free, I have been waiting for Apple all usb-c devices for so long. I bought the 15 Pro max and Airpod Pro 2 usb-c. No more lighting segregation.
@@الحد thank you for lovely reply. They could wait but why wait until Dec'24 when the law will come into force, when it was already much expected also from clients. So it's not like they discovered this great solution... There was no point in delaying.
@@malgon007 what im saying is that apple wasn't forced in the sense of making the USB c coming to the phones, it was just the matter of when they would do it. Apple already had leaks of USB c even before the EU law
It's just part of the strange Apple world that they used their own cable for so long. There are still enough special cables for watches and flashlights and so on. Every cable that you can do without is progress. So a good thing.
So the main purpose of headphones/ear pods is probably for sound and clarity but it seems like there’s obviously no change at all apart from a new cable and a device practically nobody would buy or own or use .Great 😂😂😂
So I have a question. I have the last gen AirPod pros with the lightning case, will those work with the usb c case? I’m trying to have to only carry one charger and one charging cable. I don’t need to upgrade the actual AirPods they do exactly what I need them to do and I’m happy with them. I just need the case to simplify everything. Will the last gen AirPods Pro work with the new usb c case?
I wondered the same. If I pop my lightning airpods into my USB-C case they don't seem to charge or sync with the case. I wonder if there's some sort of pairing process that I'm missing?
u Should do more research when posting the video. There is a new EU-directive that charging should be done with the standard which is USB-type C. That's why and only why apple has switched and haled with the transition with their most popular product, the iPhone. It's not a goodwill thing. If they could they would online use lightning when possible. The reason iPads and computer switched first is because usb-c can transfer data at a much bigger rate
Hi, Does the latest Airpod Pro (2n Generation?) still support the functions of hearing aid (mild to medium loss)? Any improvements in the hearing aid functions over the previous versions? Thanks.
Guys, (not you Dave) please stop mentioning the lossless support feature with the Vision Pro. The Vision Pro is not available and lossless has been around for ages with 2yo earbud models
"Apple has finally admitted" ... ahem Apple was one of the companies who DEVELOPED USB-C. They know it's good. When they introduced Lightning they said it would last for about 10 years - now the EU wants Apple to switch so there you go. Having said that, Beats (owned by Apple) has had some groovy USB C earbuds on the market for a few years now so this is old news.
I noticed that the 2023 version is cheaper than the 2022? I’d really like to treat myself to some new airpods pro gen 2, but I don’t know which version i should buy? Do they differ in terms of sound? If so, i’d like to know which one has better noice cancellation and overall is worth the cost
@@maltyduck no unfortunately not, im still unsure on which i should buy during the holidays. I think i might just ask the employees at the Apple boutique.
How did they perform for you in terms of remaining connected to your smart TV if the TV is anything but an Apple? Why does no reviewer ever mention this? If you change channel, pause, FFW, rewind, or anything that momentarily interrupts the sound output of the TV, when you resume, no sound from the Pro 2s. Didn't happen with previous Air Pod versions, doesn't happen with my Sonys. Google it. Happens with Samsung, LG and other smart TVs. Known problem since release and all firmware updates. This isn’t accurate and it’s kind of fucked up to lie and ruin the video.

Yeah then why haven't we adopted the metric system yet. ???
So essentially, a switch to USB-C and nothing else of any significance !
Better waterproofing too, but is it worth the $250? Probably not
So basically they’re the same..
I do not recall when I last charged my Airpods case with a cable. MagSafe is so convenient in the nightstand.
So if I have airpods pro 2 already before the usb-c there really isn’t much of a point for me to switch to the usb-c charging case 🤔
I'm still using gen 1 air pods pro. They are dying every once in a while..I use them all the time. I'll have to save some money for the new AP pro 2
