@@lamma109 Going with technology isn't cheaper out. It's more expensive. Have you driven them? You can choose shift points ect. You're very connected. Just because there's not a clutch doesn't mean you not connected. Your more connected possibly now to the road at least. Your doing one less step with the vehicle but you're putting that energy into the road. More gears the car can go through ect.

Couldn't get the manual and I'm not patient so I said screw it the car in my profile picture was sitting there in front of me I couldn't say no and overall glad I didn't. So I use paddle shifters. Not as connected to the car as manual but still connected enough for me to get super attached to the car. I wouldn't trade it for nothing. Il eventually just buy a v8 hopefully manual. If by the time I buy the v8 the manuals are gone il be sad but I will eventually get my v8 it will just take 6 years and even then the horse power will go up even higher on v6 and v8 just like they have been. My v6 will be my everyday driver and v8 weekend car. I wouldn't mind a c7 or c8. I still think the c7 still looks super awesome. C7 and c8 are at a tie breaker for me for the time being.

I find it funny that autos get a lot of hate in the car community, however theres so many modifications out there with the purpose of making a manual function more like an auto.
I mean a sequential gearbox is basically like paddle shifters.
I live in NYC and drive through manhattan a lot. I only have 1 car, so I got mine in auto. Paddle shifters and a TCU tune to let me hit rev limit and stop the car from auto upshifting are the best of both worlds for me. I'm happy with it, and that's what matters. it all comes down to money... car enthusiasts say they love manual transmissions but vehicle sales show that way more people buy automatics than manuals, to the point where a lot of the time its not even profitable to produce a manual transmission model.
of course they can put a special order option for manual trans but imagine the cost of RND for a whole transmission set just for special order , its just not financially plausible.
unless more people buy brand new manual cars, car companies will inevitably stop producing them :(

Autos are generally faster, and more efficient now, that part is undeniable. But there is something with just throwing gears that I have never found with the autos. I get way better city with a manual. Just put her in neutral and coast to the light, my junkbox was rated for 24 city 33 highway. I managed a combined 36 mpg 2 individual times before I went back down to 24 because I was bored of driving like some soccer mom. I mean in so many cases unless you are buying newer, very expensive cars with DCT the autos are still slower once you add the extra weight of an auto trans, the shift times, and the overall less efficiency. Plus you are losing so much driving styles and techniques like clutch kicking, double clutching, heel toes etc. Losing that connection with a car can make them really boring to drive and give you less road feel. Not to mention so many new autos don't come with a handbrake you can grab so have fun correcting that understeer most newer cars are setup to do cause its "safer than oversteer" lol.

    as a automotive technician i say :
lets brake down things A LITTLE .
torque converter automatics have a major drawback
1.there is no fuel cut when gas pedal is off .
ECM is on Closed loop (CL) when tps =0 except very few models
    not fuel efficient at all
    2. no sporty feeling , not for tracks
    3 faster than manual equivalent
    4. no engine braking unless you downshift manually
    5. perfect for drag racing +daily driver
    CVT autos
    1 sluggish
2 not good at power transfer not made for tracks , perfect daily driver
3 smoothest acceleration than anything else
    4 faster than manual equivalent
5 no engine braking no matter what you do
    6 always on CL
    DCT autos
basically a manual tranny with double axles and a classic multiclutch .
1 also goes to open loop (OP) when tps=0
    2 fuel efficiency
3 sporty feeling , perfect for track use + daily driver .
    4 perfect for all applications
    5 faster than any manual
6 drivers who own DCT MUST go to neutral in heavy traffic or long stops
    7 typical engine braking
    MANUAL tranny
1 fuel efficiency , goes to OP when tps=0
    2 can handle almost anything
    3 sporty feeling . perfect5 for track
4 boring in traffic + commuting
    5 slowest of all
6 cheap maintenance + light + easy to repair
    7 typical engine brakjng
