- Alberta's United Conservative Party government has invoked its controversial Sovereignty Act for the first time to push back against the federal government's proposed clean electricity regulations. In an interview with Power & Politics, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says the federal government cannot use their power to invade the province's jurisdiction. Federal Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson reacts and the Power Panel weighs in.

Why can't Alberta just sit back and allow the Trudeau Liberals to tax them into the dark ages like the rest of Canada?
CBC questions….I’m not a lawyer but my cousins sisters brothers neighbour is one.😂
The last 8 years of Canadian existence has clearly been exactly one of no peace, chaotic policies and the worst of bad federal government! ......indubitable

He keeps on hiding behind “ Canadians “ who are obedient . This guy is full of bull's manure.
i think i need to move to alberta
Hopefully you're not old or moving with elderly. Or a doctor or a teacher.
Hope you like insane cold, overpriced housing and unaffordable food. 😅
@@B3R_B0T Still no snow on the ground in Edmonton and its 0 degrees in November 😝
Too bad the Oilers and Flames both suck.
Considering moving back there. myself!
Way to go Danielle. As a BC resident, you are also fighting on our behalf as well.
This interviewer is so biased. Typical CBC.
I wish the rest of the provinces would stand with Premier Smith. They want to but they are afraid of the consequences. Quebec seldom listens to the federal government. It’s about time provincial governments took control of their futures.
I know they wouldn't. They're not all right-wing, and they have an interest in not burning the world down!
I could not agree more! I'm considering moving there. I'm from Ontario.
@@DarkMonster771 It's not very good unless you're in the mountains
You should read the constitution. Patriots understand how the laws work, and Smith doesn't.
Never follow UNJUST laws!!
so cringe
and who decide it is unjust? Can me or you decide? or just Danielle Smith?
love how they question alberta legality's but trudy can do anything illegal and not a word ever wait till he invokes the emergency act to avoid us voting him out
Bravo Premier Smith!! 🇨🇦👏👏👏
Well done Alberta.
Listen carefully to Lisa the lawyer's response, the rest of them are just chattering heads.
She’s a champ
Quite obvious Danielle Smith has the conclusive information here. Jonathon Wilkinson when pressured is back peddling all the way back to his feel good o.k. zone.
As far as zero emissions energy you must first calculate the emission structure to get to net zero capability after mining etc. (as they say). If any government requires some thorough guideline to achieve a net zero process give me a call I can calculate the energy requirements to full fill the future energy targets needed to create a neutral energy economy.
Cheers!
Lmao yeah on paper u might be able to manage something close lol 😅. But in reality net zero is just code word for regulatory capture. And complete control.
She is exactly what this province needs !
Awesome move ! Every province should do the same !
Then let’s move on to defunding your pathetic propaganda network
Danielle is a badass.
*Danielle. You can't even spell her name correctly 🤦♂

Ministry of Energy of course back tracked and now says, Well, we weren't really that serious.....but sometimes you have to draw the line in the sand and Federal government over-reach of it's powers. No doubt that the premier did was because Ottawa were NOT negotiating in good faith. Now the gloves are off...and to avoid a court fight the government better get more serious and stop closing the doors....the Premier did the right thing...clearly.
Totally agree
