- Sometimes you just want someone to show you how to do something without telling a story or having to watch ads or listen to someone going on & on mentioning/promoting their website/shop all the way through!
Anyway, had a few requests to create & upload a Firmware update walkthrough without commentary (so you can pause and not have to keep going back when you miss something)
I think I've made it as simple and easy to follow as possible
I've left out the Controller update stage as this is pretty straightforward now that it is upgraded via the App
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about updating the Firmware on your Phantom or if you have any suggestions for future Tutorials

Awesome! Finally someone who just gives me the info I need WITHOUT all the BS filler!!! :)
Thank you!
AAAhhh.... Man!!! Thanks for that! Appreciated!
I know what you're saying. The tutorial I watched that prompted me to make this, mentioned his website about eight times!!
I think I may have other issues. I followed everything to the letter, but it doesn't update. This is so frustrating. I have called the DJI tech support team, they walked me through (seemingly as lost as me) , I viewed a dozen UA-cam videos, I went out and bought a new SD card in case that was the problem, I made sure the drone battery was charged to capacity, I prayed and wished, which I don't do often and I have repeated these things several times. I don't know what else to do. The people at wanna put me through hoops, for me to send it to them to fix, because the drone is out of warranty.
I do recall one of the many techs at DJI talking about formatting the card and installing the update to the root, blah, blah, blah and he even walkd me through the entire process. I had one tech tell me the older version (8. something) had to be installed for the newest version to update correctly.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any and all help!!
All I would suggest was to format the
Card, copy the .bin file to it and try again. Sometimes, it just takes a long
time and people turn off because they think it's not working. But, if even DJI
themselves can't figure it out, I don't know what to suggest. I'll put the
question to a couple of forums I'm in. Hang tight!
It's just been suggested that it would be a good idea for you to just join the group and ask the question yourself. So, go to Facebook and search for the group called 'DJI Phantom 3 Owners Group'. If there is more than one group with that name, it's the one with (currently) 23,500ish members
Try this. Find what firmware version you run now. Then download the next upgrade right after your version. Do not go straight to the latest version. Do one at the time until you reach the latest version.
already new how. just wanted to see your approach. nice editing skills. thanks for sharing.
Just wanted to let you know that your video on how to update the firmware on my new P3 Advanced was the easiest video to follow. I initially attempted to use the micro SD card that came with the P3. Copied the file per your instructions, put the card into the P3. However, once I turned on the P3, lights flashed but no beeps. Repeated the sequence again but still no success. Luckily I had another micro SD card and repeated the process with it...... and success. Don't really know where the glitch was but if anyone else has difficulty, they may want to try another micro SD card before giving up. Worked for me.Thanks again for your easy to follow video.Semper Fly.
Thanks. I'm glad it helped you
So I just got my "Dji 3 professional" controller updated good, the aircraft has not did it yet, it has been going on for a hour now it is a long beeeeeep sound with flashing yellow lights and red solid lights, at first it was doing the 4 beep sounds then it just started doing this long beep sound the battery was fully charge and as it's doing this long beep sound the battery bars has dropped down to 1 solid green bar, what should I do is this normal or what?? is it updating or what I am so confused, again its going on almost 2 hours now with a long beep sound which sounds like a copy file sound
Thank you very much for your helpful video :)
You're welcome!
Thanks for the Brilliant video! :)
You're welcome!
Hi, I followed the steps but I just get a single beep every 4 seconds (gimbal is green) and none of the beep structures in the video. Please can you tell me what this means?
Thanks
Sorry, I haven't heard of that beep code. I'll ask the people in my DJI Forum
repeat the process with each battery? like format the SD card and re instlal the firmwire?
Ojo Aereo - No, you don't have to Format the Card again. Leave the Card in the Phantom, switch off, swap the Battery and power on
is posible changing on advance camera to 4k from Pro work this or i need flash Pro fw to phantom? question is have pro and adv same mainboard?
I don't actually know the answer to that. I'll ask around and get back to you
I am having a problem and need help.. I have the new firmware on my sd card but when the firmware is installing the normal beeps stop and I get just one loud continuos beep and it does not stop unless I turn it off? Do you know a way to fix this?
Sorry, I haven't heard of that error. Did you try again afterwards?
What does it means with each battery? Does it means if you have a spare battery? I hope for your urgent response. Thanks!
Yes, if you have more than one Battery. You need to power down (leave the SD Card in the Phantom), insert the next Battery and power on. It won't take as long as the previous update. But, the beep codes will be the same. Do the same with all your Batteries
Do u have to turn on the controller or open the companion app at all during this process
Cesar Lopez - No, the App & Controller do not need to be powered on
I got my phantom 3 Advanced a few days ago. i updated all the firmware and
everything has been fine. The last time i successefully flew it my
flight ended in a light crash. Today I fired up the phantom got it in
the sky everything was working fine, except when i went to take a
picture the screen on my phone turns grey for a few seconds. When it
comes back from the grey screen everything seems fine but no picture is
taken. When I go into video mode the screen on my phone just turns black
until I go back to picture mode. The sd card is recognized by the
phantom and the pictures on it already still work fine. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
Mazli Lee, sorry. I don't know the answer to this one. What I can suggest though is if you are in the UK and on Facebook, join the 'DJI Phantom 3&4 UK Owners' group or the 'DJI Phantom 3 Owners Group' if you are outside the UK. Post the question on there. I'm sure someone will have an answer for you
Do you have a good SD card? This sounds like the problem I had when I started with a cheap SD card. i got something fast and now it works fine.
Thanks for you help, Cary
Cary Cleland i already try the original sd card n a brand new sd card. The problem is still the same..
Hi man,i updated my phantom advanced Succesfuly then put the SD card without deleting .bin file ( i didnt turn off drone for not harm the updste) wait 40 min and took SD card and checked result in computer and in 1 says success , 2 says abort like urs video result..should i try 3th time update ? How can i controll my update is truly done ?
Just listen to the beeps. As long as you get the right code (long-short-short), you're good. Just remember to delete the files this time or it will try and update every time you turn it on. Sometimes it does take a really long time. But, going by what you said, it sounds like it's done. You can also check which version you are current using in the App. Or, power up the Phantom indoors (no Props), making sure that your Tablet has an Internet connection and the DJI Go App will tell you if there's an update. If you get no message, you're good to go
Phanny Obsession how can i show u the result ? İ took ss..i saw no update need in app,im so new on it..should i try process again until i get success only ? Sound was D-D :/
If you get no update notification in the App, you're all up to date
Do we need to do this for all the batteries regardless of if the app prompts us for a battery firmware update?
octapusxft, is the App actually saying the Battery needs updating?
Nope, it was saying aircraft and camera.
I'm not too sure on that one then. It shouldn't be saying that if the latest version is installed. When you go into the App and look up the current Firmware version, does it say the correct number?
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant it was saying this before I did the update. I have not checked what it says after the updates.
I was just wondering if I had to go through this on the second battery if it was saying that everything was fine.
.
Now it is saying that everything is up to date. I was not sure if the app can tell if the battery needs updates or not. If the app can do this then I finished with the update.
I see. Yes, do the same procedure for any addition Batteries. The process won't take as long as when you did the actual Phantom. But, make sure you wait for the same confirmation beeps
Should I re-format the sd card after updating?
Yes, or just delete the files
Thank you!
it is not really a beep sound, it is more like a long noise sound, sounds more like a copying file sound, it is the same sound that it makes when it is copying files when the process first starts up, like the beep beep beeeeeeep then that copy file sound, its that sound
When the beep is (long-short-short) can you just turn it off?
Yes. And if you have any other Batteries, put them in and repeat (it won't take as long as the Phantom update)
Thanks for the help.
All good?
Did the update and shutdown, then put in 2nd battery and it does nothing but power on,no beeps start?
I downloaded the latest firmware and it says that i need a program connected to open it? I don't know what to do.
Sounds like you've downloaded the .zip file. But, you don't have an associated Application to open it. Are you using a PC?
Yes.
I'm barely at the first slide...
OK, if you're on a PC and the .zip file isn't opening, you need to download WinZip. Just click on this link and run it... www.winzipdownloadfiles.com/THtzwbz4BXYrbUwdQ3zegHPXYE6gQSGyDXIMIqcXE7ZUDw17r4GRKDWGcfrqbQ_42LeNL71QpL8ul55_ChJhMnW9oveaDa4eUye7PMsJsdt60sv5BYd1NxK12HRYwQ82+_LEfM4TmrjD8+rmihiRyWRl4TxwRjbJIlGpTlF801KFWeoHBSTkt3jw6uV1IoU5Bln_C1Fk8BWz_JxPPjdzvDYdxDoTqaE0KoctyFejvX5kS6oGrO7lofCpuCG2hNFZoqqS8mjGPec56pWFnuFvatxvfZNvap37DpXoRbc1mJLBFajXiMq3vLEqEc4QcGfGP6CNfgnLoOcymOjI1hIkvAs6dgehm9dEPrqHG_T0dDnfjanBt4ktXAIhwG6RyB_bqy01M14LNL3Dm1GWehKuf9a+at6_RQ==-GzMAAERveF6Q85dEy0dgAw6cSuAF12Fj7ByHIES8saLlTXxO0kULqiG4pjSK+Dk=
