@@dylhouse259 I wouldn't think it'd be too difficult to modify the hopper mech used for stefans to accommodate Hyper rounds, and our old friend the 4B here is already modded for such an integration to be added back in
283 is NOT BAD?!?!? That’s freaking great!! My dreams of sniping with foam might finally be realized with a length of pvc, a bike pump and some choking hazard super balls!!! Maniacal laugh!!!
@NeoIsrafil But you have other issues to deal with. To make them fly fast and straight over longer distances, bullets are pointy, and are made from dense, hard materials, and they generally require a rifled barrel. Making something for recreational nerf blasting that is similar in shape but with similar or better velocity to Hyper, won't be safe to shoot at people. Making them safe would involve making them a bit like normal foam darts. And we already have those.
@qtsssim Airsoft is mostly milsim, with fairly limited sci-fi and or fully custom offerings. The nerf hobby space has a high level of customizable fantasy/scifi designs that I think set it apart from paintball and airsoft. The ammo is also larger, easier to dodge and track, and theoretically easier to recover. If you like more milsim style then definitely go airsoft but if you want colorful custom blasters custom nerf blasters are where it's at in my opinion. edit: Additionally, even the most powerful blasters in our hobby are typically low enough FPS to be safe for public places (assuming you're firing from a respectful distance and as far away from uninvolved folks as possible) which is advantageous for more casual play.
@@themandalorian9511 well, these are basically the Umarex gotcha and Vulkan Paintball marker rubber training rounds. So all Nerf really did was rebrand rubber paintball ammo. So it's more Paintball then Airsoft.
@qtsssim You can’t really say that objectively, that’s your opinion. Both Airsoft and Nerf have their pros and cons that lead people to prefer one hobby or the other
Compressed air blasters folk were making back in the day would massively benefit from the countless cordless mini electric air pumps that now exist... I've seen some that are actually handled and activate with a trigger, and would be a ridiculously cool fore-grip attachment, but also rapidly provide the PSI required to destroy.
I was excited for hyper last year thinking it might be better than rival, but it’s just not consistent in accuracy. For hasbro it’s pretty top shelf, especially with screws and paint on both sides. (3 years ago we would have been super disappointed to find solvent weld and only paint on one side, but now when it comes to hasbro we are just numb to their awful design.) It’s better than ultra and 2.0, but I don’t think I’ll invest in hyper.
And 3 years later, many people, mainly "hobbyists", are still complaining there aren't any really cheap to buy, durable, highly accurate, high velocity, mass market foam darts and blasters that are suitable for most people. You can't have everything in one package. Foam darts, Rival, Hyper, Gel rounds, airsoft, paintball... they all have pros and cons, but none of them are perfect. People should accept this. Stop trying to make simple, family friendly foam dart blasting into something it's not meant to be, and just move on to something else and accept the limitations it comes with.
This is so cool, I'd love to see a mod with a hopper or an inline clip for Hyper. Also, I haven't seen any yet, but do you have any measurements for mass and diameter of these balls? I think it'd be cool to compare them in that aspect, as well as elasticity and "compressability", with Rival and other ammo types. Thanks Drac! 💙

I've been rocking the blowpipe almost since I started HvZ. I was getting worried That I'd have to hang it up because Buzzbee suction cup darts were becoming harder and harder to find. But this could be the solution.
You can still do it, it's just heavily frowned upon, because people are idiots that shoot 400 fps half-lengths at kids out of singled drain blasters from 3 feet away.
I mostly use it to fire inaccurate asf rivals at 150 fps. A rival round fits perfectly in the sink attachment for me, and it has a barrel of 75% or so of the ball
Have you done any more experiments with Hyper? I'm thinking with an improved barrel the Siege 50 could be made into a nice litte carbine. Or go all out and build a legit sniper rifle of some kind. 🤔
Hey brother, Try maybe a hop up in the top of the barrel to put a back spin on the ball and give it a little bit of a lift....maybe. Balls are so much more challenging than 1/2darts. But I'm betting that the denser material will allow for more spin/lift to be imparted to the projectile, and carry that inertia a bit farther than the Rival rounds that loose the battle with air so rapidly. We eagerly await the results of the Drac's analysis. MrScott54, BionicBlasters 😁😃🤓😇😎🤠.

I'm a simple man, I see big blast and pvc, I like. I'm curious about the actual size of the hyper ammo, if its .50 cal, it may be interesting to see it out of low power paintball guns or an unmodded pistol splat. Maybe look into Valken Gotcha Guns, they fire paintballs and have an option for reusable foam (really rubber) ammo. 500 Gballs can be had for around $60, so much cheaper than the hyper ammo.
