Thank to you my 03 Honda Civic, finally holds its idle! I spent months trying to diagnose the issue, and couldn't find the issue. Thank you so much for helping. BTW the Hammer idea saved me. I almost stripped my screws. After cleaning it runs like a champ now! Thank you so freaking much. I had to take the whole throttle body though but w.e. it works.
I think this method skips a step which could help with the idle issue. I just did this job on my JDM 2004 Honda Civic-Ferio - basically the same car with a CVT. I took off the entire throttle body and cleaned it out. I have about 124,000 km on there and I don't have any corrosion in my coolant passage but did have the dirt and grime in the IAC passage. Cleaned out everything and now it idles better, does not almost stall when the AC cycles on anymore. I'd recommend cleaning the throttle body along with this.
Wow, coming back to this 4 years later at 221,000km and I just did that job again 3 weeks ago. I don't know why this Honda gets hate from people for reliability. Mine had been pretty much bullet proof. My only issue are suspension related and that's due to the shitty roads here
This looks easy on your car. I have a 99 civic and my IAC is in the same spot but facing the engine. I did swap it out, but it was hands down the worse job I've done on my car. Getting the 2 hoses off and back on was horrible and ruined my whole day. I got so pissed trying to remove those hoses I just cut them and literally ripped them out of my car and threw them down the street. My blood was absolutely boiling after doing this. Next time I'm taking it to a shop, I am not doing this again.
This is now on my to do list. Tried sea foam and a tap of a wrench today. The wrench tap confirmed it as it did make a difference. Sea foam made a small difference as well, but it’s just really sticky in there.
Some reason my issue came back. My car jerks, gets less mpgs, and burns a ton of oil 👎🏼... once it gets warmer, I’m going to make more vids with my 01 civic ex. Never Stop Wrenching
I’ve got the exact same issue, but for some reason, when I have my turn signals on the idle goes up and down. Originally thought it was a problem with the alternator and battery but I had those both replace brand new and it’s not so I’m going to try this.
Why do engineers use bolts for everything then certain things there like OH WAIT lets use a phillip head screw for this. LIKE try again. We need sockets for everything
HELLO AMIGO ! I NEED TO CHANGE THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. MY CAR IS A 2004 HONDA CIVIC WITH ENGINE 1.7L 4_cyl SOHC ( MFI ) . I WANR IT ORIGINAL PART NUMBER . THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND ANSWER !
So I am guessing the problem got solved? Maybe next time you can video what the problem looks like so people can see it and then come back so we can see the diff. Cheers
i have had same problems ,also air conditioning causing car to stall or falter when idling , I found the best way to clean the valve was to remove the whole throttle body ,three bolts one nut, and remove the plugs and pipes , once out scribe a mark on the valves motor and body as they are adjustable, the two screws holding the motor body on are tamper proof so cur a slot in them with a hacksaw , removed screws with a flat blade screw driver ,you will see when removed the spindle has a fin sticking out at the end ,as you will probably find that the shaft does not move make a note of its position. next spray some throttle cleaner spray in the rectangular slot above the butterfly valve and start turning the shaft, after several sprays you should be able to spin the shaft freely one all the spray has evaporated an wiped dry you can check by blowing through round hole on lower face below valve and rotating shaft to test it restricts and allows air through , no put fin in the place it was when motor removed, carefully replace motor line up scribe marks and tighten screws re assemble ,and hopefully your problems are solved, hope you find this helpful
Gerb Productions have you tried tightening down the fast idle valve? My car kinda starts misfiring it seems when warming up, and if I drive once it like a quarter way up the temp gauge, when I come to a stop or close to a stop it starts feeling like it’s gunna stall it’ll just dip down and right back up and you can feel it thru the whole car the jerking from it. I’m not sure if it’s a misfire tho or just need to clean IAC and tighten fast idle valve, or replace the plugs and coil packs.
@@LJT9393 did you ever figure out the problem you were having I am having a similar problem to what you are having? I have already changed my plugs and packs. But no difference was made.
yoursoul24 I actually don’t fully know what it was, although my grandpa recommended that I use some fuel injector cleaner, so I got a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner and put it in when I filled up my gas, and it’s gone away and hasn’t came back. I’ve used injector cleaner one more time since then as well. So if I had to guess I’d say it would be the fuel injectors. The injector cleaner is like $10-$15 for the Lucas stuff. You can get a big bottle of it, it also STP injector cleaner is another good brand. Hope it helps. If not then maybe you need to clean or replace your EGR valve, or try tightening down your fast idle valve.
the electric control valve is what gets gunked up so you didn't fix the problem with what you demonstrated. in fact you accomplished tricking yourself and your viewers

Throttle body cleaning is always good advice. On every vehicle. Resetting the ecu as well.
yuuup you are correct take the whole body off and clean intake 2 saves a whole lot pain.

lol. bro, just use vice grips for the metal clamps, then use them to wiggle the hoses off. just make sure not to rip the hoses.
Love this comment! Its my usual reality after watching some 10min-fixit videos too. Something always doesnt go to plan
Dawg that is an easy ass job 😂

Gerb Productions ya, mine was too far gone for just a simple cleaning. Time to order a new one on payday.
okay. but did it fix your problem?
The bottom hose, is that coolant also. I’m trying to figure out what is the bottom hose is for.
Both hoses are for cooling
Hi , when the you start the engine and it is on idle the throttle is closed from where the air comes to system ?
thanks for the video! should this Honda work at idle +/- at 700 rpm?
Dude got the black n mild on the dash lol nice vide will be doing this the next nice day I get.
Now I smoke cohiba’s here and there lol. Thanks for the support bro. I love my little 01 civic 👌🏼

So I don't have to bleed the coolant after doing that?
Are you gonna upload more videos of fixing this problem in the future? Or is it fixed if so what did u do? #hondagang
Why do engineers use bolts for everything then certain things there like OH WAIT lets use a phillip head screw for this. LIKE try again. We need sockets for everything
I thought the same thing smh! Once I did get them out I replaced them with Allen head
Just tried some seafoam,so far I feel a difference ! Not a salesman btw 😆 but if the rpms drop again I'll be doing this next !
Definitely look into it man... Could be a sensor as well, o2 sensor. Hope you get her fixed
What is the link for that intake? Seems decently nicely fitting, for my shitbox civic
I actually don’t have the link man, but you can find a similar one on eBay.
@@TheGerbsteve thanks
And you could put a worthless super loud coffee can on the exhaust pipe also. That should get you at least one more laugh per gallon.
I think it is a k&n cold air intake

Do you need to top off coolant after doing this??
If you lose any coolant, then I’d add some before start up, otherwise, not necessary
Did you notice any difference from adding the intake?
Ehhh, mainly sound, but did get some mpgs with header, test pipe, and intake
So I am guessing the problem got solved? Maybe next time you can video what the problem looks like so people can see it and then come back so we can see the diff. Cheers
Awesome vid, very well explained, just a little niggle, would of been nice to hear how it sounded, before and after, cheers

I’m having the same issue right now. I will attempt that and hopefully, it will fix my problem
My 02 civic is doing the same thing. What part of ct you’re from? Can you fix my car for me? I’d pay you of course! Lol
I'm located in Glastonbury area. Dm me on instagram @gerb_productions ...Might be able to set something up
Hey did that fix ur idle issue? Im having the same problem with my daughters car
Nope, thought this would, but it's back. It's like the car wants to stall out as soon as i roll to a stop in neutral
Gerb Productions there's a spring in there that's stuck. u need to replace that bitch lol
@@DiodeMilliampere replace the whole valve or spring itself?
@@TheGerbsteve Hi! how can you can solved the idle problem? i have the same
@@TheGerbsteve Its more likely 02 sensors. The first one above the cat.
You did whole video but at the end you didn’t say if it fix the problem or not. That would be good to say that part.
Good video bro!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Could It being dirty cause a misfire
Potentially, yes. Mine is still idling weird

Nice vid.
Do your vtec solenoid too
Nigga put "+10hp" on the thumbnail 😂😂😂
You like that lol
Gracias saludos dese Atlanta GA
I know one of those screws is stuck and may strip.
Bro so fucking helpful thank you so much
You’re welcome, thanks for the support 🙏🏻
Sometimes o get tored of fixing the car.
Likewise man, but it keeps the mind busy
Supposed to use throttle body & intake cleaner
I stripped the screws 😑
#hondagang bro
You already know 😎
RING NOSE PLIERS!! Try them. :-)
Sweeeeeet!!
I wish our 8th gens had that much space to work with. Something as simple as putting on a strut bar is a pain!
Couldn’t agree with you more... it’s not motivating to work on the 8th sometimes, mainly because space
Don't even say if it fixed the issue....
It didn’t
