    EA should get the Royal Engineers to sort out the river bank! If we can use our armed forces for an emergency like COVID then why not flooding??? About time for government with BALLS 😅

    With the EA obviously ignoring the ongoing problem of the flooding around Henrys area, would this have anything to do with the new builds upstream in Lincoln at Swanpool?
    If it floods downstream it doesn't flood upstream at Swanpool?
    And hey presto a highly likely flooding issue is removed and the poor old farmer downstream gets flooded and ruined. Works out well for the council tax take.
    Or, I could be completely wrong.
    There is a reason why Swanpool has never been built on as it is/was a natural flood plain.

    Wardy, I am so sorry for Henry's, and no doubt many others, problems with flooding. You can see just how upset he is and I would imagine it's totally soul destroying. Is there an online petition that viewers can sign to try and inject some life into the EA?

    Another great update Andrew, Good to see you getting away for a break. Interesting to see the beans and how the different drills have made a difference, I guess this is all part of the process when trying new crops. I like the idea of a mechanical weeder and I am sure it will be something that can be developed. Garfords farm machinery make some fantastic weeders, for weeding between plants aswell as between the rows. Great to see Henry, keep up the good work regarding the flooding. Thanks Andrew, looking forward to Wednesday update.

    The EA need john price to sort that river out, was working by the bridge few weeks ago and trees and plants are coming back naturaly but some say the EA are going to charge him for restoring it, guess whst the houses near by didnt flood this year🤔

    Looks like the bean trails are very weather dependent and soil type Weeder again maybe soil type dependant but good that it can be adjusted for inter row cultivation but then I’d prefer the sugar beet inter row machine. Enjoy your break in wales

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  3 місяці тому

      Cheers Bob. As I said though re the beans in the vid, they are no more weather dependent than wheat or barley. Huge acreage of those have been lost this year due to rain straight after drilling.

    What is the point of Henry drilling winter bird seed in land that floods in winter? Will it feed ducks?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  3 місяці тому

      It only floods when the river bank collapses which is due to lack of maintenance from the EA. It’s happened twice in 5 years, he does t get a penny in compensation so to take it out of food production and put it into stewardship means he’ll get income in those years.

    This appears a one sided argument on flooding on one farm. As a country we can not afford to keep protecting every field. We are going to have to loose some to flooding. It is a shame for Henry but that's life. People are loosing there houses due to costal erosion they do not get compensation. Like it or not we are going to get more water with climate change.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  3 місяці тому +6

      Yes they are loosing their houses which is terrible but we need to eat to survive and 1/3 of Lincs sits below sea level yet that area provides 12% of total food for the UK and 27% of total veg for the UK. Accepting that area to flood is not in the nations best interests because more food would need to be imported, produced to much lower standards putting more strain on an already over stretched NHS. I don’t agree with saying let low land areas flood when they produce so much food. The Dutch don’t.

      It’s so difficult I’ll agree. I try to avoid talking politics because some people have very strong views and you end up in a row! I don’t know yet. Labours farming policy looks crap but until the last year the conservatives have sold us down the river. But now we have a really supportive Defra team, the best for years. Tim Farron was very very impressive at the Nfu conf where he spoke without notes for 10 mins on stage about his vision for future of farming so Lib Dem’s might not be a bad shout but then is that a vote for Labour, indirectly. I do apologise that comment was meant for the Labour Party advert. I really enjoy your videos coming from a old farming family in Kent it is good to keep up with modern farming methods

      Accepted!
      Somehow YT has a knack of putting up an inappropriate advert to my videos, if it’s not Labour it’s Red Tractor!! 🤦‍♂️☹️

    Hmmm🧐 that Machine sounds very clever but, doesn't seem to be pulling alot of the weeds you checked?... Hope you get some sunshine on your break both of you & dogs, had some lovely hols in Wales. 😊

      The weeder didn’t do any good with us but I think on sandier soils and smaller weeds it would.
      Better day in Wales today!
