Morning Andrew, great update we run a major 6 meter topper like the one you tried. And they are very good apart from if you want to cut different heights then is difficult and time consuming to adjust compared to a trailed topper where you adjust clips or pins.
I can think of a few things you put your hand on and it turns wet!! Mower looks impressive with the cut and mulch blade system and galv body! It almost felt like saturday night 30 yrs ago with paul daniels majic show with the moisture meter demonstration! Thanks Andrew.
What a cracking update! Love it! Lots going on, didn’t know Revesby was growing chickpeas?!? No expert but that’s a smashing mower. Combine’s looking absolutely beautiful too! I’ll head over to BBC Radio Lincolnshire to listen to the farming programme now!
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard I’m your number one fan, but I do need my beauty sleep… or so the present Mrs Davis tells me. In fact, she tells me I should sleep more.
I don't think any party will want to get land back into production in the future but I do see farmers and public wanting to plant land in the future, so you're spot on Andrew. This lot don't give a toss, that's for sure. Unless I'm getting duped? Please tell me if I am. Love to you all.
I would say most of the farmers that are going into SFI systems just after the money . And when the the system finishes after 3 years just roundup it all ..Than plough it in . Job done. Not all farmers are has evoimental has you . Andrew .
Thanks Andrew, another good update. Good to see you cultivating and preparing the headlands. The combine looks good for its age, will be good to see you harvesting. How is Henry doing and what did he do with the land that was flooded?
Cracking update again Andrew, nice to see everything coming together getting ready for harvest, where can we get our hands on some off the sugar sticks because when we order them for our supplier we just get the tate & Lyle ones, I’d much rather buy them from you?
Any problems with water coming up subsoiler track once travelling over cultivating, mower looks good but can't companies not makes equipment so that tops have slopes or flush so no place's for trash built up
Hi, do you always terminate your cover crops with the rolls and then disc them in, have you ever sprayed them off, if so do you find you get better results from working in a green cover rather than a dead sprayed off cover? Always enjoy your videos and the fact you'll try different crops and methods
We don’t have cover crops very often. We put these in on all the tricky soils we couldn’t get planted with crops in the spring because it was too wet. Spraying would have left them standing up, we wanted them flat so the solo could chop them up.
Is there anyway to hear about how the chickpeas grown at Revesby goes? Is it a trial/ in its first year? Very interested to know how it goes now I’m in Canada and it’s a large crop out here
... Too slow, too much fuel...Cambridge roller... as they were known years back are the most underestimated of implements. When used at the right time on most soil types they are very useful.
About your tractors I thinnk I would buy another John deere on tracks especially having a small window on cultivation. Be more useful . And just hire a small tractor for grass toping .
Big change of policy slipped in there Andrew, Why the U turn on baling straw? I thought that Blackgrass control was top of your agenda, are you buying a baler to have control over where its been etc or chancing cleaning down contractors kit before it starts?
I’m going to talk about it properly on Sunday. There could be a shortage nationally and we have 1/3 of the farm not growing anything so need to to maximise income. Baler will be blown down night before with compressor, not leaf blower and I’ll ask which field it’s come from, I know all the ones locally which have blackgrass.

You’re right, we don’t but there could be a straw shortage this year so we need to support our livestock friends. Also, we have 1/3 of the farm not growing crops so we need to get extra income. I’ve a local bailing contractor who is doing it and blowing down the baker before coming and we’ll check it over before starting.
The grass cutter mechanic was very knowledgeable, interesting to hear his commentary
Good round up of activities, interesting to see the chickpeas. 👍
Yes see you Sunday till then take care .
👍😊😊
Very good update Andrew, can't wait till Sunday.
Great video as usual, interested in seeing how beans go...

Thanks for the video
Great update, some good soil management being done. 👌
Thanks to the weather, I’m afraid the carbon footprint will have to go out the window this year!

Good update young man. The weather is due to improve so hopefully you get going
Great update.
Great video that moisture was high, bring on the sun ☀
Thanks for another great update

😂 I think you’re right but It’s the weed seed return which would worry me.
excellent. autumn is fast approaching
Hi wardy nice video im down the hill in Sturton by stow keep up the good work in these hard times
Great pub there, or it used to be!
Thanks Andrew, another good update. Good to see you cultivating and preparing the headlands.
The combine looks good for its age, will be good to see you harvesting. How is Henry doing and what did he do with the land that was flooded?
I’m going over to his in a few days for an update from him.
Looking forward to seeing that, thanks Andrew.
Crikey that field is seriously going to need some hard frosts, to break up those big clods.
It’s going into winter wheat in Oct, hopefully!!
Your in a catch two situation. Wait for some dryer weather. So you don't have to dry it .or risk in loosing some of the crop .
We are, but Sundays looking good.
You haven't got a fuzzy camera lens Andrew, it was dust on your manitou windscreen !!
😂😂😂🤦♂️
Hope you don’t get any heavy rain or high winds because that barley looks well necked over and the heads could drop off
Yes, it’s a worry.
Hi Andrew great video are you tempted to bale any straw this harvest
Yes, I mention it at the end and I’ll talk about it on Sunday.?
Cracking update again Andrew, nice to see everything coming together getting ready for harvest, where can we get our hands on some off the sugar sticks because when we order them for our supplier we just get the tate & Lyle ones, I’d much rather buy them from you?
I’m the only one who has the long thin sticks but most catering suppliers can get their hands on the square silver spoon ones.
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard I’ll look into that thank you
Did you try topping the cover crop with the Major topper while you had it?
It had all been rolled flat by the time the topper arrived!

@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Thankyou!
Another great update Andrew but is it my eyes or is your camera a bit fuzzy at times?
I hope not, I’m always cleaning the Len’s, nearly every time I record.
Have u tried no Till and Crimper
No, look good though
Will Revesby estate be combining your capulet beans?
No, Farols are coming with their JD demo apparently!
Quick question can you walk on that oilseed rape or do you sink in or use crawling boards when attending the cooling fans
Yes we can, we sink in up to our ankles, lower calf, no more.
Great video, quick question is the John Deere 6R 215 yours?
No, Farols demo, it’s gone back now.
Could the grass cutter be used instead of rolling flat the cover crop fields?
It could but would be a lot slower, use more fuel and so cost more / acre.
... Too slow, too much fuel...Cambridge roller... as they were known years back are the most underestimated of implements. When used at the right time on most soil types they are very useful.
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWardditto...
Is it possible the oats were in the cover crop seed Andrew?
Not sure, could be but we have been finding more oats than blackgrass the last 2 or 3 years.
About your tractors I thinnk I would buy another John deere on tracks especially having a small window on cultivation. Be more useful . And just hire a small tractor for grass toping .
We really need wheels to go on a grain trailer and other jobs, I don’t think we could justify the extra cost of tracks

I thought you didn’t like bailing because of the chance of weeds being brought from other farms so I’m just wondering what changed your mind
