I saw Neutral Milk Hotel live in London recently. The same week, I also got a Yamaha MT8X 8-track cassette deck. I started recording this song just to test it out, without intending to release it or anything, but I got carried away and turned it into a full-blown cover. It's very lofi, very distorted, and all the tracks were recorded hotter than hell for a bit of extra fuzz. And it has banjos in.
This is also proof-of-concept for an album of acoustic originals I want to record this summer (no, seriously). I also have a bunch of new synthy songs I need to upload at some point ;)
Huge thanks to @josefkenny on Twitter who helped me fix an issue with the tape machine that nearly jeopardised the whole track!

I still prefer a dedicated recording device to my interface and computer. could just be because I used my 4-track recoeded to deth. If I could get mine fixed I wo I ld stop using my interface.

I love it I think the production was great I really want to get an 8 track cassette player but I wonder how I would hook it up any one now the minimum amount I would need to get an 8 track fully functional?

how do you get the fuzzed guitar tone?
probably an acoustic guitar, a mic in front and that mic connected to some distortion setting, its how i got it with bandlab. connect your mic to your phone, make your own distortion setting, boom, super lofi
