So where is the transfer device when transferring blood from a syringe to an ETS? The way it's shown here it's not only dangerous for the phlebotomist (great chance of getting stuck by contaminated needle) but is also outdated. Any blood being transferred from a syringe to an ETS MUST be used with a transfer device. And another thing why is the Phlebotomist pressing down on the needle? if the vein was anchored properly, pressing down the needle will feel like the vein is being torn to the patient. And lastly tubes are never labelled before but after the sample was taken and in the presence of the patient. I am a certified and soon to be licensed phlebotomist and I was not taught to do any of those dangerous acts, this video just gave me high blood pressure.
First to comment, speak with your supervis or the person in charge.Place the area under running water for few minutes. Do blood tests and continue with follow up.
enjoy watching the video, however; did anyone else notice that during the biohazard/clean up portion, the worker had on open toe shoes?, ughhh-totally not appropriate when drawing blood from a patient.
Thank you. Your teaching was direct and easy to learn.
