Itachi. He witnessed the 3rd Great Ninja War at a young age, helped injured survivors, questioned life and jumped off a cliff (luckily using kanoi, please correct me if I misspelled that, to slow and stop himself from actually hitting the ground once he saw the crows), watched one of his teammates die, was forced to kill his intire clan including his parents to protect his brother, made his brother hate him to the point to where he would want to kill Itachi, was slowly dying from an incurable disease, and was killed by his brother who later learned the truth after he died.

I think Gaara has one of the most saddest backstories because he was the reason for his mother's death which didn't suit him well for his family connections and was seen as a devilish monster like Naruto. Him and naruto have very simular problems like being discriminated from playing with the other kids. Gaara had one of the closest people to him kill himself and he was traumatized and had no friends. He tried helping one time but was rejected and made him feel depressed and horrible and was not even his fault for having the 1 tailed beast inside him. His father didn't care about him at all and just wanted to use him as a military weapon so he had no one to care for him except his siblings.

@@MarKosH01 I mean literally he was the highest ranked ninja in the village holding every power yet he didn't do anything during Uzumaki demise,Senju demise,Uchiha demise, Sakumo's suicide etc. I'm more inclined to believe that he only kept danzo as scapegoat just in case if these things get reveal later. I mean how he couldn't see all senjus specifically disappearing in a war and All information leak of sakumo's failed misson. Don't tell me he didn't have influence hold some damn rumours. I think Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi have sad back stories that put them into terrible positions for a long time. The adults around them were really sleeping on the job.
Someone that I think had a very sad story was Itachi. Sorry it is a bit long, but trying to explain why. At 4 his dad brought him to the battlefield which clearly traumatized him. Then his dad put undo pressure on a kid already pushing himself. Complimented him all the time, but never listened to him or acknowledge him as his own person. The compliments were for Fugaku, not Itachi. Itachi was well aware his dad was complimenting himself for having a talented child instead of the child. He then pushed his child into spying on the Village and helping the Clan with the coup. Itachi tried talking to him and again he would not listen. He then isolated him because he did not agree with the Clan's course.
His father allowed his subordinates to attack Itachi at their home and agreed to having the person his son was the closest to spy on him. He sowed discontent between his sons. He knew how close they were but made many decisions that tore away at their bond because he was frustrated he could not control Itachi.
Itachi lost Shisui, the only Clan member that did not shun him. He then was pressed into a corner by Danzo where he had to make decisions that would throw everything he dreamed of for his own future away to protect Sasuke and the Village. He knew the Clan would not stop and that the Leaf leadership had squandered their opportunities out of their personal desires or lack of initiative. The coup was inevitable. He really had no choice. Over a year trying to get them off that track and they just wouldn't budge. Instead they pushed Itachi away.
He then had to kill people he thought were innocent along with the ones seeking war. He lost people he loved that night by his own hand. People talk about him torturing Sasuke well he was experiencing it with him. He carried it to the grave. All the real memories of that night and the ones he created for Sasuke. He carried all that pain, memory, turmoil, regret, and sorrow with him until he died. The person he loved the most in the world hated him. He took on the role of a renegade, but that was not who he was and he technically was not a criminal as he was ordered by his superiors. He knew Danzo was a snake and would just as soon kill him as serve him, but the opportunity never came. If he took out Danzo, Root would go after Sasuke.
Finally he was surrounded by people that would kill him if they could, especially if they knew he was a spy.
A couple bright spots. I'm not sure what Kisame knew or when, but it seems he had put quite a bit of it together before the end and protected Itachi anyway. He was quite a bit older and seemed to have an older brother affection towards Itachi in his final years, especially when Itachi became ill enough he could not hide it. The other bright spot was Naruto. Itachi already realised his mistake with Sasuke before he died. He met with Naruto to make sure someone cared about and would keep trying to reach Sasuke. This seemed to give him some peace of mind right before his match with Sasuke.

Now I won’t say Itachi’s life was good in any way but he killed the clan on his accord so it’s his own fault he is feeling the way he is when he could have just done something diplomaticly with Hiruzen and Jiraiya and with Jiraiya now in the village Danzo would not be in a great position to enforce his thoughts at all so most of his pain was self dealt but Itachi does have a bad life and it started bad but just like Kushina it got better
@@austynsmith8742 Jiraiya wasn't around when the Clan Massacre happened he was looking for 'the chosen one,' and trying to save/keep tabs on Orochimaru. I mean he did kidnap a 1000 or more people, many children while he was still at the Leaf.
Itachi's life never got better, unless waiting around while your kid brother gets strong enough to kill you is an improvement. He may have developed a bond with Kisame, but he was not a fan of his other comrades nor invested in the Akatsuki's pursuits. The stress from that alone was likely soul crushing.
People think Itachi had choices. Reminds me of when people were attacking the pilot that landed the plane on the Hudson claiming he could have made it back to the airport. This was based on their attempts in a simulator. Problem is they went into the simulators knowing what was going to happen. When they delayed their actions by a few seconds to process information none of them made it to the airport.
Did not try diplomatic channels? Not sure we were watching the same show. For well over a year Shisui and Itachi, then Itachi worked on both sides to repair the rift and avert a coup. It just got the point where the leaders squandered the opportunities they were afforded to avert the coup and did not or would not. It came down to if Itachi didn't take the mission then the Leaf would have preemptively attacked and he would not have been able to protect Sasuke or keep him in a relatively safe environment Sasuke would have been vengeful towards the Leaf as well and may have ended up in the darkness with no o e trying to bring him back. Danzo would have had Root and his other mercenaries hunting the brothers down. Itachi tried to get his father to see reason for over a year many, many times. Fugaku would not pull the Clan back from the brink. Itachi bought Hiruzen time to talk to Fugaku and he never did. None of the adults were willing/able to pull the two groups away from where they were heading. It wasn't just Danzo that backed Itachi into a corner it was Fugaku, Hiruzen, Obito and many of his Clan, especially Fugaku's subordinates. Obito (and Danzo + his operatives) was (were) stoking discontent within the Clan and agitating the Uchiha towards a battle with the Leaf. In his own way Shisui did push him as well when he told Itachi to protect the Village and the Uchiha NAME. Even Shisui knew that the Clan's destruction was a possible course to prevent world war, otherwise he would have made him promise to protect the Village and the Clan.
