So are we supposed to just ignore or forget about the African Slave Trade, or the Arab Slave Trade, or the Trans-Saharan Slave Trade, or the Barbary Slave Trade, or the fact that for 1,000 years before Europeans got involved in the slave trade, Africans enslaved other Africans and sold them to the Arabs, who also enslaved Africans and white Europeans?
One of my favorite speechs from Malcolm X. I can deeply relate to this. When I was about 7 or 8 years old, I used to hate my skin color. I felt like I was too black and ugly and despised my thick hair. I truly wanted to be white and have long straight hair. I used to believe Jesus was white with the blue eyes and wool hair. I was mentally brainwashed and confused. Then, when I watched Malcolm X for the first time, I was amazed. After that day, I started to love my chocolate - skinned self. Now, I fully understand the importance of being black. Thank you Malcolm for showing me the way. May God bless you.
Malcolm X spent too much time in his own hate and not enough time talking about what is important, like two parent families. Asians are more of a minority than Blacks yet they do even better than Whites. And Nigerian immigrants do even better than Asians! It is cultural. This is something Malcom X could never understand.
@Choyboy 300 , I don't doubt that he did. He also spoke about black crime. But he only spoke to a broad audience and in general terms, so, in the end, the black community did not listen. He should have instructed the other black leaders to concentrate on crime and single parenting and leave off talking about 'racist whitey'. Although he was probably the only black leader with the power to do it (even more than MLK Jr.), he never developed a hierarchy of leadership and command to deal with those most important issues.
@Choyboy 300 , he had the power. People have often talked about how, when they first walked into a room where he was, they could feel the charisma, almost like an electric charge, coming from this man. All it would have taken was for him to gather other black leaders around him. But, sadly, he chose not to. The spotlight in the media became more important to him than actually getting a job done.

I wish I could have meet this man and sat down and talk with him
He was definitely one of the best orator's on self preservation.
I love how he would use "you and I" when he would address issues in his speeches to indicate that, in an earlier part of his life, he was guilty of this way of thinking as well before he woke up.✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
I just watched Orlando Bagwells Make It Plain again yesterday. I'm so proud we named our son after this man. He is such a hero.
This is so great. It is very true.
Happy Birthday Brother Minister Malcolm X. I wish I could have lived in a time when I could have met you, but we still love you brother.
Very deep.
1965 Malcolm X was such a wise man. Would've brought so many changes that they didn't want to happen.
THIS IS GROWTH FOR THE MIND FROM THE GREAT MIND OF MALCOLM X
So thankful to have grown up listening to so many positive influences. Malcolm X was one of many. This was a time when Giants walked the Earth.
May Allah subhanna wata ala give you Jan a. We are proud of you

A fabulous dynamic orator. Incomparable really, I haven't heard anyone like him, before or since.
