Previous owners had dogs and didn't keep cleaned up. That maybe where your tick problem could start. You could try putting down some food grade diatomaceous earth. At least close to the house. Or where the kids hang out. The yard looks very nice. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌺
I enjoy a break in the routine myself. Especially when it’s outside stuff. The Florida girl in me never gets tired of seeing the trees and the plants. Always brings back good memories.
Bizarre comments today. Doug you have triggered the peanut gallery again. In the south seeing a tractor on the road is completely normal for the reasons you explained. I cant believe how quickly both properties are coming along!
Tractors and combines are common anywhere farm field are not to mention mowing implements all along roadways for maintenance purposes. Normal life, slow down and pass when safe. 👍
We live in rural North Carolina. If you Don't see a tractor on the road, than the farmers are behind on the fields! Very common to see them in places on the interstate. I've had one friend killed & another seriously injured because both of the drivers (on their phones) texting! Both accidents were straight aways, very clear views up to 2 miles ahead. We have tractor🚜 signs everywhere. Even in town. Without a farm You would NOT have food. I used to mow 10 acre fields for my dad when I was 12 yrs old. That's how a lot of us learn how to drive around here. (In the fields) It's a good, hard life but meaningful. ❤
Hi Doug. You stated that you have an issue with ticks. I know you don't like using chemicals, neither do I as I feed the birds and don't want to spray anything on the yard that will kill the beneficial insects for the birds. One place I lived I couldn't walk from the truck to the house without finding a tick crawling up my leg. An old timer down the road brought me 2 of his chickens and said they would take care of the problem. In 2 weeks I could sit out in the yard a read the paper with no ticks at all. After picking the yard clean they started staying at the far end of the yard near the woods where they could find more insects. Just a thought.
What a fun video! If I didn't know better, I'd have thought you were on a country road right here in northcentral PA! I expected to see farm equipment and Amish buggies any moment! Thanks for taking us along on the ride on this beautiful Saturday! Blessings!
I just watched a video for 20 minutes watching a wonderful man mow and clear his property when that is exactly what I should be doing! And, I enjoyed every second watching. Love you all!
WARNING! Never use the front loader without a counterweight on the back. You need your box blade or something pretty heavy to balance the machine. Next thing is when you have a heavy load on the front loader keep it as close to the ground as possible while moving. Compact tractors will turnover so quick on nearly flat ground it you run a tire off in a pothole, and your load is unbalanced. I have over 10k hours operating a compact tractors and I'm just informing you of the dangers to be aware of. Also always wear your seat belt. There have been several tractor rollovers near me in just the past 5 years. 2 were fatalities. Both were not following the safety items I just mentioned. Stay safe brother, great channel you have!
Thanks for taking us on the tractor ride. As others said, when you think of FL all you hear is big cities & crowded with people. You live in such a beautiful RURAL area. Tractors & farm equipment on the roads & highway are common here in Kansas. In some areas, farmers have the right away to
For ticks in my part of the country the best thing is guineas! They can eat up to 4,000 insects/ticks per day. Also, chickens/ducks/turkeys, etc. I don't know what is allowed in your area...you could build a coop and get a couple of chickens. Just a suggestion :)
I see someone is in need of a tractor canopy. I went to a golf cart place and bought a golf cart top and fastened it to the top of the ROPS. Works great!
I don't know what other people think, but, that was so much fun!! Getting to see the beautiful scenery along the way, reminded me of ya'lls bike rides and it's one of the reasons why, my husband and I, love and enjoy our job so much. Because we get to travel to all kinds of different places, seeing nature's beauty everywhere we go. But the only downside to our job is, not having time to explore the areas we go to, (our trips are always straight there and straight back) and that's why ya'lls exploring/metal detecting videos, are special to me.😊 Both of ya'lls yards are going to look and feel a lot more open, and make a lot more sense too, than the jungles they looked like they were, at the beginning. May you and your family continue to be blessed, accomplishing and achieving ya'lls dreams of a better and brighter future. With Much Love and Bunches of Hugs to you both and the kiddos!!! ❤❤❤❤
I watch a homestead channel on you tube, Sow the land, Jason has a hat that is an umbrella he wears it when he feeds his animals and it's raining, at first I thought Doug had one.😊
The ride to your property was absolutely beautiful. I used to live in Jacksonville Florida and loved the area and the weather. Amazed how you could drive the Massey-Ferguson right over the little trees and shrub. Property looks great.
Guys, please know that, as a loyal viewer, everything I say is from my heart. If I ever adresse something is just out of concern or care for you guys. Just like a friend, I like to give advice. I recommend you invest in a really big excavator or a tractor whatever you think is more useful for these difficult tasks (you can use it in nature disasters, dragging a car) so your current ones would last you decades. I believe of keep pushing these small equipments over the limit, it might start to over heat, the hydraulic pump might fail, God forbid accident like overturning..etc. Best of luck Have a good day.
Their equipment might not be perfect for every job, but they do not need larger equipment. They don't have enough work for the heavier machinery to justify the investment. Even used equipment is outrageously expensive. It just wouldn't make financial sense. I do get what you're saying though. If they needed something bigger, I think they would rather rent the machine they required. 🙂
Doug….you 1000% need a landscape trailer. They come in handy for many reasons. You could load large items from hardware stores on it in addition to hauling the mower. It’s worth the investment. We use ours all the time. And yes, I live in a rural area so I’m useful to tractors in the road.
I enjoyed the ride to the mobile home as you took us along. I was enjoying the countryside! Goes to show that when you make a big purchase, like the tractor, it usually pays for itself in no time!
My parents were framers and often worked small parcels short distances from the homestead. They needed to move tractors seeder and combines on road ways frequently even needing to use highways sometimes. They would have someone following the machinery with a car or truck flashing their emergency lights so drivers would know that there was a slow moving vehicle in front of them. They only had one accident and it was probably a distracted driver that ran into the back of the car following the tractor. This was a field tractor not a compact tractor. The car was totalled but a car is designed to protect the driver of the vehicle your tractor is not designed for that. My mother was in the car when that happened and she was shaken but not injured. The car that ran into them had an adult with a few kids in it but everyone was okay. If the car had run into the tractor the people in the car would have had more damage because tractors don’t have a crumple zone to reduce impact. On your small tractor an impact may throw you right of the tractor causing you a lot of injuries. It’s better to sacrifice the car than your body. I’m just trying to offer some advice to help you stay safe I hope no offence is taken.
Fun video to watch. Reminded me of clearing land and cutting grass and weeds on our new property in South Louisiana with a tractor-mower when I was a kid. It will look like a park when you're finished, green and lush. Be careful of ticks, they spread disease. Nice of the cat to visit and make an appearance on camera. 😊
That was a fun diversion from drywall and such. Please include us in your yard work projects and even the burn pile. A good bonfire is always fun. Everything there is so green and lush. The lawn looks nicely cut, this property has progressed beautifully. Your neighbors should be happy with the improvements. Take care and well wishes til next time.❤❤
Such a cool video!!! Thanks for taking us on your driving adventure. What beautiful views; it resembles South Carolina, where I live. The property just gets better and better.
Doug, the mobile home looked so pretty when you pulled in I almost didn’t recognize it! I do remember when you painted and skirted it but I’d never seen it from that angle. It’s come such a long way. Whatever y’all decide to do with it, the persons involved are going to love it!💕
You and your wonderful family do such amazing things together. Love your videos and seeing you accomplish so much together. A family that works together, stays together.
When I lived in Orlando, I explored a few rural areas, such as Cross Creek and Zephyrhills. Zephyrhills's topography felt similar to that of the Kentucky bluegrass region. When people think of Florida, they think about the large cities. The state has fantastic rural areas.
@@pinkmosquito22 Yea, definitely avoid it, especially these days! I think I was only there a couple times, one of them was a field trip to the Bronx Zoo when I was in middle school, haha...and I hated that trip, btw!
The termites will move to the healthy trees after they are finished with the decayed tree. It would be best to burn the tree to get rid of the termites.
If calico is doing her job, there's very little mice around there. >>;=) I liked that driving video, that was cool! It looks quiet and peaceful around there; it'd be a nice area to live, but I guess part of why y'all chose that area. Cool to see the property coming together; it's a lot softer/lusher than it looked when y'all first showed us the place, the sort of yard you don't mind going around in bare feetpaws.
Doug, you accomplished a lot! The grass is so nice and green too. In North Florida where my BIL lives It's farming country and it's country paved roads and so common to see tractors on the roads. They have the orange triangle sign on back of the tractor. The farmers are respectful and move over when possible. You did great!
Oh Doug you did a great job, and thanks again for sharing this video, and that cat that Ashley lifted up was so cute and looked happy to be noticed. Have a great weekend and have some good rest. Sending love and hugs, bye!! 🥰😘💜💜💜💜💜
This brought back memories for me! I am 73 years old and growing up my dad was a Massey Ferguson dealer. We were taught to dislike John Deere green and love MF red! That’s a pretty red tractor for sure!
I am new and have been binge watching. One thing I noticed you had the duck in the yard when you first moved there. If that duck is still around that is why the house property has fewer ticks than the mobile home property. They are excellent tick control.

Property cleanup is hard work but it's so rewarding to see the end result. Especially when the grass is all grown back in! 😊
OMG I can see why y'all like the area, it's so beautiful. It's not crowded. I love it!
I enjoy a break in the routine myself. Especially when it’s outside stuff. The Florida girl in me never gets tired of seeing the trees and the plants. Always brings back good memories.

Where we live in West Virginia you see tractors on the road going from field to field.
In southern Missouri, you also bring your dog along for the ride! 😂🤣
Tractors and combines are common anywhere farm field are not to mention mowing implements all along roadways for maintenance purposes. Normal life, slow down and pass when safe. 👍
Not just the south, when I lived in Mich. We would see tracters on the road all the time😂
Rural Northern California too..
... and of course, the cat steals the show at the end.
Beautiful property. And fun to see your area. Quite often there are tractors driving on the road or shoulder where I live.

My only question, is there anything Doug cannot do when whipping a property into shape???😂 Much admiration for your persistence and excellent work…

What pretty land/scenery on the way to your mobile home!!

Seeing the black mobile home from a distance really makes one appreciate what a great choice of color that is contrasting the surroundings.
Truly a beautiful area. Nice track of property! I love using the tractor!
yard clean up looks fun , excited to see what you do with it
Guinea hens are really good at eating ticks and they are semi wild and independent. Great natural control.
That property is beautiful!🐾🐩🌻🌴
Wow Doug!!! You've got that tractor thing down! Great job! Your properties are so beautiful.

Illegal here in Australia, safe journeys
I looked it up about driving tractors on roads in Australia and found this: "If you have a Class C license which is essentially a car license, then you’re clear to drive tractors on any road in Australia - even ones towing implements."
So it's not illegal, you just need to have a regular car license.
@@diyfferentand they need to be road registered. We had a Massey 135 for transporting our boats from home to the beach.
