Sounds absolutely incredible. I love my Awe Touring exhuast on my civic si. I've been looking into possibly getting the FL5 and this is the only exhaust I would consider
Hard telling which is loudest... they both sound the same due to audio compression of the video cam. I expect the track version is a good bit louder overall.
It's because they're not much different from outside of the car -- not because of any compression. Our Touring Edition resonators don't feature any traditional packing material and are literally a straight-through design (looking inside resembles the same as the inside of a straight pipe). The difference lies inside of the cabin.
@@dowbowski Correct, it is why the interior segment for the Touring Edition (@1:05) has significantly less ambient sound than the Track Edition (@3:03).
@@dowbowski A downpipe is completely optional and your call. Our kit includes a full 3" integrated frontpipe to mate to the factory DP, just for your own knowledge. Replacing the DP increases the overall volume significantly.
Good morning! Sounds great! Just curious, you state dyno-proven max gains of 14 hp and 13 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels with the stock downpipe. Was this using the AWE Touring Edition, the Track Edition or both Editions? Cheers!
Hi, Scott. We do all of our testing with our Touring Editions given their design is a straight-through route, just like the Track Edition counterpart. The performance aspect of each configuration is the same.👍
What is that flutter sound at the drop of the revs? I have both awe and apexi. Really only hear that flutter on awe...like air flow is hitting something inside the muffler?
Not a civic-specific effect, most motors make an inhale sound at the end of decel, and it’s heard more because our exhausts have such a true straight-through flowing design. Minimal congestion means you hear inhale and exhale of the motor much more than one would with traditionally packed mufflers/resonators.
@@awetuning interesting. I don't recall hearing it so much on my fk8 when it was awe track version. I have touring on the fl5 and just sounds like something is fluttering almost like something is loose. I torqued the clamps to 60ft lbs...maybe I should torque it more
Hey AWE, I really enjoy your exhaust suites in general. I should have gotten it on my ZD8 BRZ when I had it. My question, you’re saying there is no difference between the two from the outside? I’ve heard owners share the Track has some unexpected burbles, whereas the Touring doesn’t. Are you able to shed any light on that? I’m definitely picking one up soon regardless, just stuck between the two offerings :)
That's more akin to the tone and volume -- Touring is a bit more refined as the 180 Tech kills the nasty dead bass frequencies, but the volume will be very similar to the Track Edition since the 180 Tech resonator doesn't have any packing material within it. They both can burble, just depends on the amount of input from the throttle and the temperature (the Touring Edition has barked quite a bit when driving in my experience when shifting aggressively, etc). With that said, given the Track Edition is a straight section, any barks would make their way out unscathed whereas they may get gobbled up by the 180 Tech resonator on the Touring Edition. Go Touring 100% - it's amazing and such a fantastic system when on the highway and anywhere else in the rev range.
It's only slightly deeper from the outside, but only because 180 Technology isn't there to eat those bassy frequencies. If it ends up being too much for ya, you can convert to the Toruing Edition later down the road with ease.
Absolutely love the rumble sound!! I have 1 question, how does it work with the active valve with both thw touring edition and track edition? Thats kinda deal breaker for me of buying it as i would like to keep the active valve and there is not much option out there that keep the active valve. Also, how can i get it in Australia? Thank you
Hey, Vince. The valve was removed because it's only there for backpressure when in the high end of the rev range. Since our exhausts are 3", backpressure isn't an issue, so there was no need for a valve -- especially since it can't be controlled by the driver -- there's no need for it.
Were there any sound measurements performed on the Track version? As anyone who hits the track regularly knows, many tracks have sound limits strictly enforced (as low as 86dB at some tracks). I'd want to make sure I can stay within those limits when shelling out for an aftermarket exhaust.
This is the exhaust I have on my car (actually that's my car in this video) Absolutely love it!
Does the active valve exist in this system? Or is it just open at all times. Does it leave any check engine light on the dash?
@@dissolves9461 No valve (not needed) no Check engine light with AWE. That is a guarantee from the company
0hi Jason, could you please share your wheels spec please. Is that 18' TE?
