I knew she had cancer a long time ago but didn't know she had to fight pneumonia for 3 years. Pneumonia recurring 7~8 times for 3 years? My god. I never thought she was arrogant but she confesses she was, which is hard to admit especially on-air, What an incredible lady. God bless her.
It was evident to me during her epic performance of "You Raise Me Up" that she was not well. And the Begin Again" performances were angelic though reserved for her. I hope her medical problems are all behind her. She is simply the greatest female vocalist on the planet in my opinion.
After watching this interview, I could see why I was so touched by her performances on Begin Again Korea than ever before, even though she was not in good shape to fully use her vocal ability at that time. She put aside her ambition and pride, and humbled herself to reach out to people in need of comfort and spiritual support.. She is the one trying to practice the love and humbleness that Jesus showed when he washed the feet of his disciples and I really respect her way of life.
I have been a Sohyang fan for more than 4 years, always amazed by her magnificent skills and the emotional impact she brings to each one of her performances. I knew she is a person of faith and chooses to live her life with humility and purpose. However, I also observed the competitiveness in her and believed that to be part of the motivation for her (and anyone for that matter) to excel beyond herself. Although I've read about Sohyang's own trepidation about ambition, this is the first time I heard her talk about how she recognized pride as a trap that prevented her from becoming more emphatic with people around her. Such a plain and accurate statement - "People who only have experience of success are obsessed with their own success." It's rather amazing how she took hardship as an opportunity to learn about facing her own vulnerability and gain insight into building deeper connection with others. This interview gave me the full illustration of Sohyang's evolution in singing, however fabulous and skillful consistently, from her different eras, roughly divided into "I Am A Singer 2" (a phenom full of fresh ambition and confidence), "Immortal Song 2" (a legend in the making with memorable and powerful performances), "King of Masked Singer" (a contemplative diva showing her own sense of vulnerability), and "Begin Again Korea" (an artist immersed in connecting with her audience). I know I feel encouraged and inspired listening to Sohyang's music and personal growth.
Awesome! I already read translation under video in Korean but I appreciate your great effort for us international fans to make it with English subtitles
I love her interviews even though I can't understand a word she says, but I feel everything in what she says, what an amazingly brilliantly ultra talented gift from GOD 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.
This makes me love her even more.... Not many people really tell their inner thoughts like this to the public...
