I didn't know Mitchell's was no longer in business. I guess the good ole days of cheap imports have been over for awhile now. I myself stopped collecting several years ago. But God I miss those days. I would always look in books and get some limited information on each firearm I got. But that was about it. I'm loving these in depth history lessons that I get from this channel. Sadly my retention of information isn't what it used to be,so I guess I'll just revisit often. Thanks.

Looks a bit too brand new for my taste. Yet all the included accessories are really cool.
I had to piece all my stuff together. Cleaning kit from this dealer, ammo pouch from another one, and so on. Still missing a sling, though.
An nice additional detail is that Yugoslavia not only built the German Kar98 style bayonet, with the edge at the bottom of the blade when mounted (cutting downward), but also the correct Czechoslovakian variant (edge on top for cutting upward) for their M24/52-Č rifles.

Nothing to do with the administration. Its time my man. Older you get and the more surplus you see come in and then sell out, you'll see prices go up and up. When it comes to imports, the last major change was in 2005 when the so-called 'barrel ban' went into effect. Now infllation definitely plays a role too, but that's nearly a globel problem.

Thank you for the video and sharing your perspective. I have an early 1950's M48 - 4-digit serial number and an error on the date in the crest ("29X1943" instead of "29XI1943"). I suppose they eventually found the error and fixed it. That mine has the error makes me think it's a very early M48. I bought mine from a sporting goods store in 2023, but it was in a Mitchell's box and was full of cosmoline - I don't think it was ever fired after it left Yugoslavia. No other goodies in the box.

I bought a MM K98 from a gun show for 299$ years ago for just the gun no accessories. It was a 1944 DOU marked late war K98 with Russian Capture X's. The bolt is in the white and it is all matching except for the front barrel band. The stock and metal appear to be refinished when compared to authentic bring back K98's. Im not sure if these guns were refinished post war or by Michelle's as the internet claims either way they make great shooters.

I have one of these MM M48s. On mine the stock looks so light because MM sanded the stock just enough to remove some of the stamps in the wood. I have a half a dozen of these M48s (A, B, BO, etc.) and the stocks are typically dark. The only one I have that is light like this is my MM. Still a nice rifle but you can see when comparing it to the unmolested rifles that the butt plate and bolt have been pretty highly polished. The wood was not sanded enough to make any of the hardware stand proud but just enough that it blurred the stamps so that they cannot be read. It is a very pretty rifle and I have gotten a lot of complements on it, but I don't consider it to be in original condition due to the sanding of the stock.
