What's it like living in the USA? Well, for starters, it's HUGE so it offers something for EVERYONE! As the 3rd largest country, there is so much beautiful nature from Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone National Park to Niagara Falls to all of Utah and Alaska!
There are TONS of world-class international cities and states too like Los Angeles and San Francisco in California, Miami and Orlando in Florida, Houston, Dallas and Austin in Texas, and Boston, Atlanta, Washington DC, and of course, New York!
BUT, while the United States is one of the BEST countries to live in for 2022, with INCREDIBLE diversity, it isn't perfect! While there are many similarities to Canada, Europe, and other English Speaking places, there are also quite a few differences, so hopefully this list helps new immigrants!
If America has the BEST economy in the world, and is home to SO MANY of the best places to live, why shouldn't you move to the USA?!
Thanks for watching From Here to There! This is one of my top ten videos where we explain things about the world, it's history, and geography, starting with the different states, cities, and towns in the United States. Find out the worst and best places to live in 2020!

As a European, I can't realize what it's like to have to pay for ur higher education tuition till you're around 50 and be afraid of going to hospital because of it's too expensive...this country is very inhuman
it USED to be worth it. the American college experience and the education here used to be the best in the world. everything yall saw in the movies really does happen here 😂 and yes its very fun. and not just that the education also always delivered and you'd get the best education you could ever get on Earth here in America. those days are long gone though 🧍higher education institutions in America are now focused on how many genders there are and if men can become women. meanwhile quite literally everyone else is focused on things that actually matter
@americaisnumber117american detected
@alfonso77550 Well you are being very ungrateful. I literally had to apply to one of the cheapest colleges in my area and since my dad is a professor there, I literally get 80% off and it's STILL quite expensive. And I'm not even paying rent yet.
@alfonso77550Uhh, if somebody is an EU citizen then landing unemployed could be one of the last things happening to such a person. 27 countries with more joining in 2024, and you think economies of all these nations wont be able to cater to all the people? Tell me this was not a joke. 😂
In Europe you can earn 2000-2500 Euro with an education and 5 years of work experience. Sorry but in US man earns 5000 after tax on that level
I was born a US Citizen to an immigrant family, I went back with them to Eastern Europe for college. Currently evaluating the possibility of moving back after 5 years and frankly the lack of walkable cities is something I'd have to readjust to and that's my biggest issue
I lived in Brazil for 25 years after migrating to USA I hate this car dependency and how far things are.
@@emmanuellmiqueletti7029 True
As a latvian ive gone to far places, that being the States, Britain, Ireland, France and Belgium and quite frankly the states looks admirable, where are you from considering much of eastern europe is just commie blocs
it's bigger issue than you think, once you tried the walkable safer cities of Europe you will not like the american driving everywhere. I know I've been through it. Moving back to Europe soon ;-)
There is also a lack of paid vacation time here, which means it's more difficult to travel to other countries. In some European countries, they get over a whole month of paid time off. Here, you are lucky if you get a week. I imagine this also contributes to the depression. All we do is work until we are too old to. And then most U.S. citizens live in poverty in their golden years until they die.
America is too consumerist and capitalist.
I don't hate capitalism and consumerism, I'm just saying we ran that into the ground.
It's because companies are too greedy and burn out their workers which results in less worker productivity.
I didn't know they get a month off...I also heard the UK doing a 4 day work week...The US is in talks about that but you know how the US is we probably waiting on robots by 2035/2050 to take our jobs...but I have to agree we so burned out from working and most Americans is all we think about is money money money, greedy as you was saying @klem_box47
As an American living in Europe, you hit the nail on the head.
Check the Wikipedia article for "List of minimum annual leave by country" and look what the US gets compared to the rest of the world. It amazes me that Americans tolerate this.
Id join a mafia at this point just to have the opportunity to leave this hellhole🤷♂️

As a European, I am most concerned about the political division of the people in America. If political divisions disrupt security and economy of USA, whole world is in trouble. You don't need to have same political opinion, but don't paralyze your wonderful country because of that please. God bless America. Greetings from Sarajevo, Bosnia. ♥️

Well, yeah, same here in Finland. It's really hard to go anywhere unless you, a family member or a friend owns a car. Unless you live in a city.
Like my home town, there's six times a bus goes to a city in a day. Only three times you can take a train. Owning a car is a vital thing, and still EU wants to get rid of those.

I'm also from Finland and I agree with everything. Gas is already over 2€ per liter and only going up while the left wants to just increase. Our government sees increasing our already ridiculous taxes even more or taking even more debt as a solution to everything... the average Joe doesn't have any money to spare after very basic living expenses, our low wages and extreme taxes even for the lower income classes. Then add the need for a car, extremely expensive gas etc. etc. it sucks...

Sorry to hear that. If its any consolation, nowhere in the world is perfect and we live in very messed up times. The fact that so many people chose to move to USA (or at least attempt to) regardless of the so many downsides tells you how the rest of the world is doing. Stay safe and well.
@@steffan1804 "so many people chose to move to the USA " that's in general what Americans respond to when their country is criticized. Immigrants move to the USA mainly to make money and finally face all the issues cited in this video. We talk about it, in general, among ourselves ( immigrants) so as not to offend those who have never been elsewhere and are too sensitive to take into consideration criticisms that could be constructive. Criticism does not mean that everything is bad. But most people in the US have a hard time understanding the nuance. Here everything is perceived as good or bad. There is no middle ground.
None of them convinces me to not move to the USA. Imma pack my stuff, let's go to the USA!
I'd recommend the following cities: (Phoenix, Arizona), (Omaha, Nebraska), (Boise, Idaho), (Lincoln, Nebraska), (Denver, Colorado), (Salt Lake City, Utah), (Colorado Springs, Colorado), (Buffalo, New York), (Tampa, Florida), (St. Petersburg, Florida), (Sacramento, California), (Tucson, Arizona), (El Paso, Texas), (Austin, Texas), (Dallas, Texas), (Flagstaff, Arizona if you don't mind the small town vibe.), (Charleston, South Carolina), and SO MUCH MORE!

Childcare is also pretty expensive in the USA. I live in Ireland, my parents once spent €3000 on me and my brother for a summer camp just to keep us busy while we didn't have school and they still had to go to work. €3000 is a lot, but my mum has a friend who lives with her husband and two daughters in Philadelphia and just this year herself and her husband paid for the exact same thing for their two daughters.... BUT IT COSTED $10000!!! Compared to €3000!

I would say the most difficult for us Europeans would be the Healthcare System problem. For example here in France, you almost don't pay anything for your health, the government does, and it's the same in a lot of european countries
You pay for it in taxes, nothing is free
@@Qrec12 yes it's true, and it is also true that our taxes are much heavier than in the US (but i suppose that depends on the state, for example i have heard that taxes in Rhode Island are really heavy). But if you compare at the end of the day it is less expensive, and it is also more equal, because everyone can access the service regardless of your wealth
@@Qrec12
Yes. We pay it by taxes, but that means that when we get to a hospital we don't have to worry about how we are going to pay for the care! So we don't need to just "tough it out" like many Americans do, as they cannot pay the hospital bill.
@@camilleimbert5484 Taxes in South Dakota, Arizona, Washington, Texas, and Florida are very light, considering they have NO state income tax, and the median household income is high.
My husband is from Germany. Health care is also among one of the things he was horrified by. The cost of health insurance is morbidly high here and if you actually have to use it, you have to pay even more. It is common to find multiple bills in the mail after a hospital visit thousands of dollars or more. And that is WITH health insurance. Most U.S. citizens are in debt up to their eyeball with medical bills they will likely never be able to pay. This fact, among other things is why the U.S is a rather dismal 1st world country. We can do better, we have the wealth for it. But our two party political system is extremely crippling. Especially with only one partially functioning political party that is stll interested in improving the country. The other has sunk into a void of fascism, fear and theatrics. If it continues like this, things will not end well for the U.S. We are hoisted on our own petard.

These facts are true somehow. I was born in Europe, and have travelled to a lot of countries. All I can say is that,
1. Even a ghetto life in the US seems like a well off person in another place regardless.
2. The US is luxurious. Other countries' giant retailers cannot be compared to one of ours like walmart, considering the affordability.
3. I can also say that there is hunger literally, out there. One can barely afford a kid's meal fast food.
4. There are too many languages and culture to learn before you fit in. Plus, areas where the middle class can afford to live is as boring as heck.
5. Main reasons why I wouldn't leave here is the entertainment and liveliness.
6. If a good country like UK, also English speaking like us have exceeded the amount of US lottery winnings being 50k participants, then there's no place like home❤

I'm eastern european and I watch a ton of political content from US, both left and right. I'm amazed on how partisan and divided people are there, not to mention unwillingness to jump from one group to another if the agenda is more in line with your believes. Here in europe, we tend to vote different parties from election to election.
That’s what the mainstream media shows mostly people who work don’t care about politics
you mean here in Europe there are like 10 different political parties and they would often make alliances with each other and sometimes if a party loses they would tell which other party their voters should vote for. Also Its when Americans think that having freedom is a good culture because it makes no fucking sense i mean the Brits have Tee, fancy hats and fancy houses as part of their culture and it makes sense while germans have Beer and sausages as their culture which also makes sense but Americans have Democracy, Capitalism and Freedom as their culture which is weird, becuase these are political ideologies and Goverment systems why is that part of American Culture i would never understand that ''Capitalism'' or ''Freedom'' is part of your culture it doesent make any sense especially since you are not the freeist nation on earth lol.
It’s bc one side is extremist - I mean would YOU want to live under Trumps healthcare plan? It’s extreme. The right wings whole economic agenda is extreme. Even European right wingers wouldn’t dare touch universal healthcare
I come to USA in 2018 to do my master's I didn't identify with this country. The corporative jobs are so unstable. Cities are very spread. When I was single i got rejected on dating apps just because i was an immigrant. I'm glad just to save some money and go back to my home country.

1. Need cars? If you read accurate history and economics then you see why you need a car. Nobody walks more than a mile in Europe for shopping when most live close to town centers.
2. Obesity is being addressed and more Americans are eating healthy foods.
3. Depression varies but it is equally the same in Europe.
4. The healthcare system is broken so it is very true. But it cannot be solved by socialism.
5. The high cost of living is true. That is why people are having less children.
6. Good jobs are going away. That is why people are having less children.
7. The high crime rate is exaggerated but it is not consisted in all areas.
8. The US education system is broken but it will not be fixed by socialism, BLM, woke people, LGBT, Islam, or any religion.
9. Most educated and mature Americans never would say the USA is the best country.
10. Yes, it is a divided country.
11. Immigration is designed to be difficult, just like all nations around the world. You do not want low-life people to immigrate to the USA like the USA does not have enough domestic low-life people to begin with.
Please explain why healthcare cannot be solved with socialism, when countries that rank the highest in The Lancets healthcare ranking have universal healthcare?
And the same thing with education? Why isn't it fixed with socialism?
And needing a car and using a car daily are two different things! I have a car for the times that I need one, but I use it only if I need it. Otherwise I walk, cycle or use public transport. In the US I would need to use a car every day as the urban planning is all about cars!

As someone who was born to Mexican immigrants in the US and lived here for my whole life, it's not surprising to bring out the dark truths about the US. I have traveled to at least 20 countries and learning their habits comparing to the US is definitely mind blowing. Saying Americans are closed-minded is very true, especially me living in Texas, I really don't get the point why they are like that. Me as a college student now, even looking for professional jobs scare me because there's a good chance I wont get hired, even though I'd have a bachelor's degree, and this also applies to my friends. This video was spot on, got everything right and proving a point towards each problem and I appreciate your effort on this.
Speaking of dark truth, my jaw dropped as I learn, mega genocide of indigenous Native Americans, and their population in Continents of America 500 yrs ago was around 15 millions, while European population in Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native Americans population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering 'TWO BILLIONS'! A sad truth. 😔
I agree, about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return to rightful owners indigenous Native American people.
True, notorious global cardinal crimes Anglo West has committed, and benefited a great deals, such as Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why is notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask?
@@imlovely6522 100% agree with this, the schools teaching US history making it look like everything was perfect. Native Americans have been discriminated against for a long time, their land being stolen from colonization went against everything the government promised and then tried to pay them big amounts as a way to apologize, the scar is already there and too impactful. Building Mount Rushmore is one of the most terrible things Native Americans have faced, white men defacing a very sacred mountain to the natives, apparently it represents “freedom” or whatever American trait they’re trying to represent. But yeah it is a sad truth.
Truth is Slavery, Colonialism and Colonization are evil things done and benefited by evildoers. 🤔
Moreover, this, the land, is their, one and only, ASSESS. The beloved motherland their ancestors forebears had lived through thick and thin, endured through hardships of all sorts for so long. With their main ASSESS being taken away from them, their IDENTITY, their DIGNITY, their POPULATION and most of all, their FUTURE are all but gone. That's a sad truth indeed.
The truth of the matter is that indigenous Native People would forever be the subject of scapegoat, and victimized by the Colonizers of their lands, as long as they occupy those vast rich bountiful lands in order to justify their occupation. In other words, the Colonizers are 'Living in Denial', aka, 'Living in Sin'.

I live in the Netherlands but ive been to France countless of times and ive also been to the US
Reasons not:
- people are super rude.
- driving is horrible, small roads and drivers don’t care what happens to each other.
- poor. France is really poor and people live in small homes that is the only place they can afford.
- apart from coastal cities like Nice, Cannes and Marseille and the capital Paris, theres not a lot of job opportunities.
- French people dont like foreigners unless youre their customer.
- Lot of homelessness and people pickpocketing.
- high taxes (not as high as the Netherlands tho)
- lot of people smoke and think its rude when you say something if the smoke is in your face

I would say Americans know more about Asian countries than Latin American countries.

İs there any reasons to not to move to Canada?
Yup! Check out my video on it!
Stay in America
Yes. Cold, passive aggressive residents, lack of good paying jobs, god awful internet, expensive car insurance, the cities are nearly isolated, and the immigration process is almost, if not as difficult as America immigration.
this is very trueee- an american who has sadly never left due to poverty but has a hard desire to.

I hear you, bro. I am born and raised here and am working on a way out.
I think the US is way better than europe and this by õeopke from European countries and this is why alots of people in Europa wants to move to the US cause there's alot of issues we face and admit it and we try to make it better meanwhile in Europe they just ignore it and say that everything is perfect and before you start attacking me take a few moments of your time and do some researchers
Anglo Saxon countries like USA , Canada , Australia and New Zealand are actually way more progressive than most European countries. Only Germany , Switzerland , Netherlands , Austria and Nordic are a rivals of these Anglo Saxon countries in term of standard of living and progressiveness.
@@evooevoo6062 do you actually compare the US and canada to the balkans?
the only difference between America and Europe is that you guys have universal health care but in canada and most of countries in Europe except the developed ones aka (Germany, France, the Uk) it's so slow and suck and you can find that on UA-cam and any other network and eurpean countries are suoer expensive though some countries The salary rate is very The salary rate is very low for how expensive life is meanwhile in the US we don't have universal health care and that suck so bad but there's a invention it's insurance most of Americans have it and we don't have to pay anything if we go to the hospital and it's suoer quick and peoole who can't afford having an insurance they manage by government programmes and Charities and if you go the hosoital they can't say no to you it's illegal and the guns proolem it's suck but the media is overeating sometimes they make us feel like people just shoot other people in the street while mostly the streets are quite and safe and lovely actually if you like to walk in night with all these trees around you which is a one of the pros of living in the US we have alot of trees in the cities and around the houses they're basically everywhere and it's in the total of eurpe no Exceptions it's hard to get a decent job while it's easy here to get it and that's why every year alot's of euroeans from pretty Advanced countries in Europe move to the US (our new Neighbors just moved from Germany a few months ago) my dear friend the US is not perfect just like europe so i think The standard of living in the United States is higher than all countries in Europe and equal to that of Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia. Now with remote work, I wonder how much more unhealthy we will get. I've noticed a lot people gain some weight since the lockdowns happened.
Mostly true. Politics are the worst - politicians just create conflicts and drama without getting anything done to improve the lives of people.
There are many different food choices in American though - you can definitely eat tasty and healthy food if you choose to.
Hi! Spanish here, And although I haven’t live at the US most of these reasons are things I expected. However I wanted to point out that the “Division” point is probably not very remarkable since many countries can relate to that. Here you cannot have a politics or economics conversation without the other person judging you for who do you vote and potentially getting angry because of it. This is the case without a 2 parties political parties (we have 4 mayor plus the regional ones, which are a lot) and I have heard fellow Europeans or immigrants from Latin America complaining about the same thing.
I mean your point is probably right but in most cases the country of origin would have a similar problem so it wouldn’t really matter.
You'd be suprised how much a 2 party system amplifies it
Tbh, immigrating to the US is a bit over rated.
We’ve been waiting for this one

To be honest this country has gone down the toilet since so many years ago I don't know if I want to live here any longer than I have to this video proved my point really well that's why I'm definitely going to move to a different country either Canada the UK even Germany cuz I actually have German heritage.
10. I am a car guy.
9. Why should I care about someone being fat? Also I come from a country with one of the highest suicide rates and massive problem with alcoholism and drug addiction where kids get on drugs from 10 or bellow.
8. My political views are fine with that.
7. The land in usa is 3-4 times cheaper than in my country, also houses are cheaper better and have better infrastructure.
6. I can live in my car if it's legal in the US.
5. I'll just get a gun.
4. I am grown and I will not have kids until I can afford them.
3. The US has beautiful nature and honestly don't want to go to a place where I have no right of self defense or freedom of speech.
2. I am team yellow.
1. Yup I will spend the next years to become extraordinary person in science and get an immigrant visa.
See you the land of the free in the next years. I'll go back here when I succeed.
@@OneDomidion The reality is that there are only 2 countries in the world which have constitutional freedom of speech and right to self defense at the same time otherwise if there is no constitutional right to self-defense against a criminal (which can be the government) the Freedom of Speech will not be protected and the media will be controlled by the government so those 2 countries are Switzerland and USA (I don't know if you know but News media in Europe is regulated and controlled more than in US by A lot). Also in Europe they are planning to ban restoration or serious repairs of vehicles older than 15 years old, meaning if my old sports car will require engine rebuild, engine replacement or welding the Government will require the car to be Scraped. To get to Switzerland is still more difficult than to get to USA and there is a lot of local laws that I don't agree with. I am left with no options, I follow my passion towards cars and racing in the USA OR live a boring life as a truck driver or a construction worker In EU. So I love guns, freedom, cars and I don't trust the government, what country would you recommend?
@@OneDomidion Let's see, first 10 years of my life I lived in Lithuania and now I live in UK for 8 years... also I was going on a summer vacation to Lithuania Also sometimes on Christmas and new year. Lithuania Has fucked economy and 40% tax where land costs Too much, like a land near a city with 300,000 people costs like a land in US near a 4 million people city, also government doesn't want to sell the land also all normal houses not in a village costs absurd amount of money also Lithuania has been leading the suicide leaderboard for a long time. also there a some problems with drugs and alcoholism, also many people live in poverty. I know I sound like I am an American who never left his hometown but That's because my political views fit nearly perfectly with Texas. I am planning to move to Lithuania since I have no way of succeeding in UK economy. And probably work for a few years to somehow qualify for an EB-3 visa and then at some point I will get to the US.(Also I remember I was on a vacation to Turkey once) Also in UK they started to place Face recognition cameras all around, Soo as a guy who doesn't trust the government I will leave this country.
Also there isn't any other highly developed country with that much racial diversty in the world. And the ones that are close to the US in that regard are also similar to the US on most of those reasons. Most of the caucasian part of the country is still a lot better than any western european country perhaps on par with only Australia or Switzerland also asians are doing great in America
And after the end of 2023 can we add two more reason which is Israel and Ukraine? Who knew America could afford to support other countries except it’s own?
How high is my chance to immigrate to the US from Germany? It kinda should increase my chances I think or am I wrong?
Move to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is utopia compared to the developed world.
Why the hell would you leave the EU for the US? Especially Germany is a significantly better place to live!
As an American, Germany is a much better place than here just stay there.
Stay where you are. Use your 1 month of vacation to visit the US.

You are totally right. It takes me more than 3 years to obtain the permanent residency and it has been 10 years since I came to this country. But I am still lucky compared to the average immigrants because I have advanced degree. The gun violence is always the case. You have to investigate the safety carefully before you move to a new location.
Gun violence is not usually an issue in most areas in the U.S. The problems are in the very big cities in the U.S. because a very rampant democrat governors encouraging lawlessness...This is from a native Californian who is in one of those states. An armed society is a free society...

Based on your no. 1 in the list, since it sucks so much to live here, it sounds like the US's tough immigration laws are actually doing prospective immigrants a favor.
Gosh am I happy to be from Europe and to live in Europe:
we've got here in Europe UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE (best one in the world)
a much better and cheaper education system
lower taxes and much more affordable to live (in THE MOST PLACES)
people are kind and open minded
BY FAR not such a big division because of politics
MUCH BETTER security system (no gun violence)
and much more, the USA is literally fucked hahahaha
Im from Europe too (The Netherlands),
1: not the best healthcare in the world, we rank in the top tho
2: some school systems within Europe (Finland, Denmark etc.) are better, others arent (Italy, Slovakia, Greece etc.)
3: our taxes arent lower, dont know where you got that from.
4: depending on the country and state, this is somewhat true. Dutch and French people are not kind and too direct while lots of Americans are likely to help. They are individualistic😅.
5: indeed, not as divided as Americans
6: Security as in violence, yes. Europe is definitely more secure. Security as in protection from our oen government, definitely not
@Melvil DE CASTRO idk if youve ever veen to Europe, or the Netherlands for that matter, but this is bot true. Yes, you have the typical cities like Barcelona, London, Paris, Amsterdam etc. But this is only the big cities. In the smaller cities (200-500k), there typically is a center with really small buildings and 500m from each side, there is already an end. Dont glorify Europe because its not all that beautiful. People, especially in the east and south, are really poor and cost of living is high, theres a class system unheard of and people are generally unhappy about their life, especially during covid. Theres authoritarianism and if you are not happy with your government, in soke countries here you’ll get thrown in jail
@@ScatPack123 Europe is still much better than the USA, many americans who did a gap year in Europe, never returned after to the US, because they realized that life in most parts of Europe is better

I'd vouch to put weather on this list. I mean, in a lot of the country 10 degrees winter temperature and 90 degrees summer temperature is what most of the country has to deal with.
Could definitely be one, but as there are a HUGE variety of climates in this giant country, I'd argue you could always move somewhere with a climate you like. Not the case with most countries and many of the "best" countries get a lot colder/darker than our cold parts haha

A lot of them was totally cool and got great sense of humor, also auto-ironically. The only thing that I couldn’t understand was kind of approach of their governmental agencies towards them.
