If you configure local authentication as I did in the video and there is no username you won't be able to log into the console or vty lines as the device will keep asking for a username that doesn't exist. You are not required to use the method "local" you could just use a server, for example Radius and authenticate to that, as long as the Radius service is up and reachable you will be able to log in…..I almost forgot, specifically, when you first issue the aaa new-model command a default authentication is applied to all but the console so if you are configuring the device from a line other than console you will get locked out of the device.
Wow, I had never notice that mistake, it should say enable password is unencrypted", not sure how I got off on that talk as I talk about it being less secure. For everyone watching this...Enable password is unencrypted clear text. Enable Secret is encrypted, not in clear text. Thank you!!
