Beautiful, but sad lyrics of past memories overshadowed by time and space of two deeply caring persons who were separated by mountains at 1:55 and ocean(s) at 2:18. The imagery of phone calls between 0:39 - 0:50 is indicative of his caring concern of a longtime connection to a dear memory of an evening walk at 0:59 on a well-lighted path in a park after a light rain, 'when the evening was warm and free'. Time goes on and ends with her sunset at 3:15 and his sunset at 3:20. Again Doug portrays the evocative beauty of the woman with engaging eyes and his anticipation as he 'would call asking lonely to find you there' at 0:26 as if lonely were a person making the call for him. Just Neil, cleverly replacing an adjective, lonely, with a personal pronoun, lonely...and following with his reason for the intermittent calls, 'I would call asking only to know' at 0:37. Profound! Thank you, Doug, for portraying connections of deep meaning for many of us in a world of oftentimes indifference or self-gratification. ✨

What a song from a legend singer of all times, his music, his vocals, his lyrics and his melodies will never die....I have been listening to him since early 1970s when the vinyl and record players were in fashion and now it is 2021 and the vinyl and record players are again playing since few years.....and.....Neil Diamond is still there, his soothing voice makes us feel beautiful. True story - I was listening to this very song in my car a few weeks ago and thought at the time this could easily receive the "Doug treatment". And sure enough! Yes, we have been having a wild and woolly week, looking the same for the coming week. Quite a few houses losing their roofs. I too very much appreciate Donita with her amazing ability to dissect and spot the smallest of inclusions I seek to include in my videos. Our dam, some 7-9 metres from our house was reaching critical levels, had to connect a pump to lower it. Ran for a couple of hours this afternoon, same again tomorrow and the following day, my guess. Take care.
