Such statements coming from a professional coach especially one who participated in the World Cup or any tournament should be held accountable. They should never be let off like that for the sake of sport's credibility. Coming from a random person with no knowledge about football is one thing but totally another coming from a football coach.

People think that winding Argentina up is a good tactic bc if they go off the rails then they get red cards, but what the fail to realize that if they have some calmer players or staff members they can control that anger to the point that it is just enough to serve them as an advantage. What a lack of knowledge of Argentinian soccer culture, there is a term called “garra” that explains this and they use that as motivation to dribble past players. They are taught to use “broca” or “spite/frustration” as a motivator and fuel for dribbling. Like in most South American teams, every player must have some ability to dribble one-on-one.
Never provoke Argentina and never go into a match super cheery with Brazil. You need to oppose the cultural tones that each country approaches their futbol with!!!

Dutch scored their goals at the 101st minute of stoppage time in regular time. If there is any conspiracy, the referee gave the Dutch to many chances and all they have to do is win the penalty shootout, automatically not a premeditated game.

There were more than 5 or 6 occasions when referees turned blind eye without even checking VAR..The most telling one being italian referee daniele orsatto granting argentina a fake penalty in the semi final so early in the match that gave a psychological blow to croatia who otherwise would have steamrolled argentina just like in 2018...in the quarterfinal spanish referee gave a free penalty for acuna dive and didnt consult var..in same match messi handled ball and no card as if he is allowed to even walk with the football...gakpo was clearly fouled in the penalty box but lahoz didnt even bothered to check var... that specific clip on gakpo foul is not even available online...in the final koman and france had a big counter attack going with french outnumbering argentines in their half and mbaape was left unmarked but somehow referee stopped play for a silly foul on koman without allowing advantage, later bizzarely he confessed the mistake...in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final they had to take the game to penalty shooutouts as they know aregentina has a strong keeper..a calculated risk that paid off...

Van Gaal is 100% right in regards to several refereeing choices (no yellow for Messi's voluntary hand ball, no red for Paredes intentionally kicking ball at Nederlands bench), not to mention the team was given penalties in all knockout games (all of Argentina's first goals). that doesn't mean another team should have won, or would've deserved it more, it simply means FIFA always has an agenda, and this time it played in ARG favor, of course to a large degree deservedly, the issue here is the system is not clean.
