For anyone who is stuck on the Vertex color mask part (16:03), the Shortcut for "set vertex color," Shift + K, has been changed to CTRL + K in Blender 4.0.
Thank you for sharing this!
It's Ctrl + X in Blender 4.1 and 4.2 !
When you just have to make a Blender tutorial at 2am but don't want to wake your family.
The tutorials wait for no one XD
bruh. this is one of the best tutorials on blender anywhere.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the comment :)
I love your storytelling voice!! Usually, I get annoyed in tutorials but you nailed it
Oh i love the deep whispers as someones telling me a secret.
I guess "The Secrets of Glass Texturing" could work as a title :)
@@lewisanimation ill be watching this tutorial, can this be used to get imperfections to lets say shiny plastic?
@@vonown3d Absolutely, you can pretty much add imperfections to any material this way! You just change the glass material at the start to the shiny plastic material you want to use, then layer the imperfections on top!
😂
as someone who is on love with white noise and rain sounds (can't live without them lol), this man's voice was a perfect match for the type of sounds i like
"why are we whispering?"
ASMR + Blender tutorial 😁
@@victoriagdalevich3164 the only problem is, this is not an asmr video. It is quite frusturating.
Honestly best tutorial I've seen so far.
Pace is fast but not overwhelming, every second isn't wasted, all options are presented next to each other smoothly. Your work is nicely organized too. Not to mention the lovely delivery with your soothing voice. Love it.
Really glad you like it! Thank you so much :) Plenty more content on the way!
This is the most informative and engaging blender tutorials that I've watched! (I've watched hundreds)
This is the tutorial that I finally understood how shading really works in Blender. You should do more video tutorials like this. You have a natural way of explaining things clearly. Thanks very much!
That's so good to hear! Really glad it helps and there's plenty more content on the way :)
After 3 years of using Blender, there is no doubt in my mind, yours is the best tutorial I have come across so far.
Thank you so much that really means a lot :)
Probably the best tutorial on glass on YT.... absolutely outstanding....
Thank you! I'm really glad you like it :)
You got a calming voice, sounds like whispering which makes this somewhat mysterious but I like it.
Fits perfectly for your explanations and they are very clear and easy to understand.
Great job
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
One of the biggest takeaways I've gotten from this is how to layer properly. Honestly, I had always thought it was the other way around. Super helpful
Happy to hear it! :)
MASTERCLASS!!!!
Thank you!
We need more of this type of videos, keep going man, really like the videos.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
Watched first 5 minutes and I think it will be a nice tutorial. I like how you explained the masking process in a clean way with animations to back the words. Subscribed and will be watching more of it later, thanks!
Amazing! Really glad it's helpful and welcome to the channel :)
Many times I see comments in tutorials like "this is the best turorial I have seen", but often feel its an overstatement. This is not the case. Fair to say one of the best I have seen, I came to learn about how to make a realistic glass shader, but I feel I found one of the best if not the best intermediate tutorial about blender shading that I have seen. The masks part its amazing, the overall quality and the amount of useful tips and well presented information. Simply amazing. Thanks so much for this gift.
Thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate it :) Really glad you found it helpful
Excellent! Not too sure about the breathless commentary, but the message gets through.
wow, this was PERFECT. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you!
Thank you so much! :)
I've been using blender for years but I had never seen such a clear explanation of nodes and masks! keep going 👍🏻
Thank you so much I really appreciate the comment :) Plenty more content on the way!
That was one of the best Blender tutorials I've watched yet! The structure and how you use the chapters in the timeline of the video are just perfect! Keep it up, I'm looking forward to seeing more tutorials of that quality! :)
Thank you so much it means a lot! More tutorials on the way :)
Thank you for an excellent tutorial! I learned a lot. I’m happy I found your channel and looking forward to seeing what you will create next! 🔥🙏
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the channel! :)
How the heck is this for free?
This is by far the best shading tutorial I have seen so far. And I am only at 4:48. It's insane that you explain things like why we don't see some patches in the mask but on the glass AND you show it in an animated scene. Holy moly.
Thank you so much for that!
Thank you very much! Really glad you like the tutorial :)
SO DIDACTIC! AND FOR FREE!!! AWESOME!!! ❤ EXCELLENT CLASS! (Best Tutorial Ever)
Thank you so much I really appreciate your comment :) Glad it was helpful!
I am literally watching parts of this tutorial where I understand everything 100% from before, but it's still like ASMR due to your voice.
What a Gem, I love how you breakdown each and every node and the purpose of it including the alternatives. I think you need to post more videos with this kind of format and I bet you'll reach 1M sub in no time
If I may request for future tutorial, could you please create more organic objects such as how to make Food, Plants, Animal or Human to look realistic. I think that is one niche that not many blender creators are aware of. Thanks in advance Lewis
Best mystery whispering voice !! :) *shhhh, only glass with imperfections now*
Perfect! I've been struggling with my glass textures and this tutorial is wonderful!
Really glad it helps! :)
This is ever so helpful and everything in one place too!
this form of expression comes only when you've reached a god level in knowledge of your craft.....you're excellent at what you do.....
I appreciate this comment :) Thank you very much!
I watched this early in the morning. Perfect!
most intuitive blender instruction ever
Thank you :)
Bro your voice... I mean I am at that stage where I hate watching UA-cam tutorials (seen too many). But something about your voice and presentation style made my brain feel like wait a sec.. this is good. Keep it up.
This is solid gold, many thanks! Love the way you organise nodes, v logical.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful :)
THIS IS GOLDEN!!!!!
Thank you! :)
So grateful for this tutorial!
I'm a professional still life retoucher, and layers and organization is so important to my workflow. This really helped me nail down a way to be organized within my nodes setups that parallel my retouching workflow. Thank you so much.
I'm really glad this was helpful :)
You sir are a legend. This tutorial is at exactly the right pace with the right sense of humour. A lot has been learnt. Tip of thy hat 🎩
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed it!
The real blender whisperer... Well done 👍💛
Thank you!
One *VERY* important thing to not forget is to set the *_glossy bounces_* high enough too. Because the light will bounce around within the glass, until the glossy bounce limit is reached, and will result in black artifacts in especially borders and bevels, when looked at from a shallow angle.
It took me ages to figure out where those black artifacts came from, as I had transmission bounces high enough, but those don't count towards inner material reflections.
Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this, it'll be very helpful to a lot of people :)
well, that's excellent advice, my render becomes 5x better after I change glossy from 0 to 20 :D
Это действительно лучший урок! Фантастический!
Man this is Quality. Great Video!
Amazing thank you so much :)
Woaw, just splendid how you explained all this and showed a proper workflow for organizing node shaders!
Glad it was helpful! :)
I haven’t even finished watching yet but, i’m absolutely blown away by the quality of this tutorial. Your voice is incredible, and so are your Blender skills! Consider me a subscriber.

No problem! Glad you like it :)
Aboslutley the best explenation of texture node setups I've ever seen ! Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful! :)
I am not sure as to the reason for the whispering, but the sibilance is hypnotic. Held me captive. Nice job, clear and concise. Manu thanks.
Thank you for this. I slowed it down and was able to add fingerprints to my glass bottle. This is the first time I have ever really had any understanding of nodes. In fact I put some grunge on the cork of the bottle using the mix shader. Subscribed.
Really happy the video helps! Welcome to the channel :)
A beautiful way of teaching 3dz.
Thank you!
What the hell, THIS IS THE BEST TUTUORIAL ever !!!!
Glad it was helpful! :D
@@lewisanimation please do the same with metal ! (or maybe it is exactly the same workflow ?)
@@SalymGuer Exactly! It's the same workflow :) Just make the material at the start metal instead of glass
@@lewisanimation listen man, i don't care what kind of tutorial you will make, i'll watch it okay ? XD
@@SalymGuer XD I hope my future videos live up to expectations :)
