Agreed! I'm 33 and I love the looks on this channel. I think it's more "how to look elegant and timeless" rather than specifically after 40. Such great inspiration! You can look gorgeous at any age.
I know it must be a great deal of work to put all the style suggestions together, but I want to thank you for that effort. I look forward to your presentations and I am constantly copying and pasting your images to refer to for GREAT classic looks!
I'm sitting here as the sun comes up over another day in quarantine. Nothing to do and nowhere to go but it doesn't matter because it's a very humid 105 degrees outside and the heat makes me feel sick. I pity-eat my way through the morning watching you and dreaming of the day I can go to a cafe or restaurant or book store, hug a friend and look magnificently classy doing it. Thank you for the inspiration, Gemma, I love your videos. -K
I just love your classic, elegant, timeless style. As a short, and slightly plump, rectangle-shape, I completely avoided the very-long, oversized blazers, etc. I think a classic-fit, tailored, figure-skimming (not squeezing) look works great on everyone.
I had a pair of nude pumps in the 80s that I loved, but wore out eventually. It wasn’t until recently that I could find this color again, I literally searched for decades. Nothing is as leg-lengthening and flattering. I wish I could replicate the comfort of those 80s shoes, also.
Don’t do that! Maybe go through it and keep everything that is classic and in the colors you like, then gradually add more classic pieces that you love, and as you can afford them. Pre-loved is a great way to go.
Admittedly I've been buying more loose fitting dresses over the last year. Guilty pleasure and now since I've put on a few extra pounds due to the lock down; I'm glad I did! LOL! I still have my black stilettos...you're right they are timeless. Thanks for another lovely video Gemma!! Hugs!
Great advice Gemma!!! I have a blazer, tweet jacket, trench jacket for several years in my wardrobe, and they are still in fashion!! I am in my late 70s, and love your advice!! Brilliant looking at your lovely styles these days, “O to be young”
You are so right. These outfits are elegant and simple with just the right vibe and you yourself are just gorgeous. Thanks for such a great video. I sometimes overdo and this is a good reminder for me.
So happy with your channel! I turned 50 this summer. As I get older my skin (very light all my life) becomes more pale, so about a year ago I decided to wear less black because I felt that I looked somewhat 'sick' in it. Red is not an option eigther, because of my Rosacea. Started out with navy trousers, jackets and shoes, but little inspiration on tops and blouses. I seem to prefer white, although that also makes me look even more pale. Guess I just got stuck in the traditional 'navy style'. With this video you gave me a lot of ideas what to wear. I will make me a 'fall fashion mood board' and then I will decide what pieces to buy. As I live in the Netherlands not all stores you mention in your videos are available here, but I will find my 'fashion way' for this fall and winter.
Hello, distant relative, from a part-Dutch American. I have similar skin, super-pale, with some rosacea. I recommend mega-sunscreen, no soap, and azelaic acid for the rosacea, plus silk pillowcases, they all help. Like you, I love white blouses and navy, so when I wear them together, I often add a scarf with those colors, plus some other flattering colors, in it. For me, those are light blues, pinks, light greens, because I have a cool-undertone. The Dutch are always the best non-native writers and speakers of English, it’s impressive! I wonder if it’s 100% superior education, or some %from the similarity of the two languages. Dutch and English are more closely related than most other European languages, except perhaps Norweigian/Swedish/Danish, which linguists say is the same language. Cheers from San Francisco😀
Great reminders! for me my go to is a little black dress worn with either cream or camel jacket . Camel in winter A black wool coat a camel one and a trench are my mainstays I bought the Burberry cream trench 4 years ago. Last a lifetime.i also agree neat jewellery is so refined excellent ideas here thanks again Gemma i
I love classic pieces and a navy blazer is part of my uniform when the weather allows for it. Right now we are experiencing many days in the 90's and so it's all about keeping cool but still looking put together. Terrific video as always.
This is one of the best video and this is my style. These outfits makes you look like a million dollars and that will always be classic. I think every should watch this video I will give a A+. Scarves will change the look and so chic.
A beautiful and very wonderful presentation. I wish success and progress in your wonderful work. Health and safety to you. My thanks, appreciation and respect.💕💜💕
Slowly edit. Consider having an outdated dress made into a skirt. A too bright color or patterned shirt can become a scarf or bag. A non fitting belt can be expanded with chain, or used to strap and secure your computer bag, and make a saddle bag look. Thinking outside the box can still be classic.
I have just recently discovered your channel and become a subscriber. I just love the information and help you are passing on and will most definitely use your tips in the future. Thank you so much!
I've been enjoying your videos for awhile now and had no idea you were from England. I assumed you were from Australia because of your accent and I can't tell the difference. I've been trying to up-grade my wardrobe to a more classy, elegant, sophisticated and classic wardrobe. However, I guess I'm just not a classy lady because I don't feel right. I feel and look boring. I've added accessories but somehow it doesn't feel boho enough. Still working on the perfect balance - I'm a work in progress!!! Great tips and great video.
Once you find how to put your signature on your personal, classic style you will feel wonderful - not boring! Maybe try some paper bag pants with a silk blouse and boho scarf, or a light touch of boho jewelry? Don't ditch all your boho clothes, but very lightly mix them in with the classics. If you play around with it, you will eventually find the right balance, and find your comfort level with the classics!!
Yes, it's all about finding the right personal style. Which lines suit you best depends on your body type and essence. See information at UA-camr Elyssa (Kibbe Image ID). Maybe you can think of different, soft, natural materials and textures? Perhaps a long cardigan with a more loose fit or a nice jumper/sweater with batwing sleeves?
Greetings! Thank you very much for all your advices and tips! You won't believe that it's helping me a lot!😌 I really appreciate your talent and time to share w/ all of us your tips!😊❤ live it! God Bless you!😊 Thank you!
Hello! Good advices 😊. May I suggest one thing that I think will make you look much younger, well, you and everyone. What if you let your eyebrows go thicker? It will look more natural and actual too. I'm doing that myself 😉.
Ok I'm a 13 year old watching this beautiful video and planning my wardrobe and then I come over the name "over 40".......jk I still love it and I subscribed .
So now I begin my search for the perfect camel coat! It's a very hot summer here in the southern USA, so I'm hoping to find it on sale about now - LOVE the examples you gave - thx Gemma!
I’m rarely comfortable in shoes, either. I’ve heard great things about the stylish comfort brand Calla shoes, and the prices are fair. I got carried away over the holidays, but when the bank account allows, I’m going to buy a pair.
Hi Gemma, you got me thinking about blazers because I love them. But I do not like double breasted blazers. Now I need to find the perfect button up white shirt. Love this channel!!
Love the pink blazer!
I’m 29 and I’ve always adored this style. It’s elegant, feminine, timeless... It has it all, in my opinion.

This is my favourite look too ( except for ripped jeans)

I rather like being 60, classic style feels just right. I do miss my youthful waist, though, it up and vanished.
You are so right. These outfits are elegant and simple with just the right vibe and you yourself are just gorgeous. Thanks for such a great video. I sometimes overdo and this is a good reminder for me.

Good advice about the pencil skirt length! I invested in nude courts and wear them so much
My absolute favourites!
The beige trench coat is another item I've still have to get! I'm sure I can find a good one at Burlington coat factory in the US!
I got a very nice one, at a very reasonable price, I think it was about $110 US, on sale, from the London Fog (US) website, hope that helps.

Oh yes great time to search you might find an absolute bargain. Hope you find a gorgeous one
Very good video. You setbhigh expectations
