  • On July 15, 2010 the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the National Endowment for Democracy co-hosted the conference, "Fifteen Years Later: Forward or Backward in the Balkans?," which reevaluated the state of truth-telling and fact-finding in the region, as well as American and European Union engagement. Among the speakers was Emir Suljagić, a survivor of the 1995 Srebrenica genocide. In this brief interview, he offers reflections for our online audience about why it is important that the Museum address contemporary genocide. He also addresses what lessons survivors of contemporary genocides might learn from survivors of the Holocaust.
