I bought this product a year ago and I am extremely pleased with it. The first thing that you must realise that this has got to be learned to play just like any other instrument and less is definitely more but I think it is one of the best on the market for the price
Yeah fair point fella. I know there are times you could just die for a few harmonies on a chorus as a solo act. Great video anyway, really enjoyed watching it.
I had my first gig with the vocalists 3 last night. Loved it...very nice to access a harmony at times; it really thickens our sound.
We have a two piece band with an acoustic and percussion. The percussionists is still developing as a harmony singer.
For our situation, this pedal has helped a ton for three reasons:
1) It thickens our sound tastefully.
2) It gives our "developing" singer a note to hear. Eventually, we will decrease the volume of the harmony part until he does not need it anymore.
3) It helps me sing more accurately. The auto-correction sounds like a chorus when your off key, So I use it (at home) to focus on my trouble spots.
My only advice: spend some time dialing in the harmonies you want for each song. Not all of the settings sound well with any song. I generally use one harmony at a time, either the part just above or below the melody. I also finds changing the "male/female" setting helpful.
@143romexapril Hi there. We'd love to help you out. Give us a call at (800) 222-4700 or shoot an e-mail over to sales(at)sweetwater(dot)com and we'll help you out right away.
That sounds like something that I left in the toilet this morning.
Sounded Micky Mouse (ish)...At times is sounded ok...then it would get squirly...Like it didn't know what to do with the harmony!!...But maybe that is just me!
Is the HARMONY button only a 2 tap process to get the harmony on and off or can I press and hold for harmony "on" and release to turn harmoney "off"?
this guy can actually sing very very well. check out his digitech jamman vids.
"just a little i hope you dont notice" lol never at all. Absolutely natural
Do you have to use the backing vocals on it, or can you run it with just efects on the vox like reverb, compression, etc?
I just dug mine out after years of sitting. Can't find the power supply, so im going to order it and hope it works.
Ive looked at the TC-Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G XT too. Looks pretty good and a bit cheaper.
too much talking
Anyone know can I, instead of plugging guitar directly into the processor can i mic my guitar instead and get the same benefit?
it's this can make a sound like a cyborg ???
Sounds like you’re in a band with the Darlicks lol Cool effect for the right kind of stuff (Kraftwerk etc..) but in an acoustic setting it’s jarring me.
what is that song's name, it is awsome!! i wrote the lyrics but there is no match.
What was the song he was singing?
Man this thing is awesome those female harmonies are awesome!
Matt is Great.. And he has the BEST JOB EVER!! Would LOVE to be able to get involved with somthing like what he does..
Did you eat Phil Collins?
Which is the song^s name of the last song you play?
Just got the Vocalist Live3 and it won't track with my guitar. It track fairly well when I don't play guitar but when I start using my guitar the harmonies are all over the place. The harmonies start going in and out of tune when I start strumming my guitar. I think it is defective!! Has anyone else ever experienced this??
can someone please link me to a beginner lesson in what I need to buy for vocals. I play guitar (a bit...mainly just strum chords) and I sing over them(a little). Do i need a PA speaker? Can I use my guitar amp? Etc. I love these harmonizer pedals but I don't know the basics of vocals amplification. I've messed around on my PC but I'm looking for something more jam friendly. Not live shows or recording, just jamming with a few friends.
Just terrible.........As good of idea as it might be, it sucks. The first harmony I heard , I about fell off my chair it was so bad. Not knocking the product. Hard to make a robot human I suspect. Hey , the guy sang nice, that's good.
I have this unit and it works better on certain songs and not so well otters. This dude sounds like a chipmunk though.
come on lets be honest here, its a nice bit of kit indeed but if I saw someone using it in a cafe bar / pub etc I d feel a bit conned by the trickery. I know that seems harsh and lacking understanding but its one step away from backing tracks with harmonies on. I think you would have to use it very very sparingly to keep your street cred and so I m inclined to think I ll pass over it for now. great vid though. What does anyone else honestly think. Would you feel a tad cheated hearing it?
Sing please. not talk.
To many bla bla
From 5:15 on the song sounds Awesome, good job!!
man... what the guitar you're using???
:/ want the same... i'm singer and guitarist also.. actually using the yamaha f380, have it for 5 years but it mostly finished now... will have to by a new guitar.. really your's sound.. where can i get a luthier guitar for not too expensive... :(
Hello! How does the backings responds to the chords with 5 chords distortion? Does they get the same definition of harmony of natural chords? About the INPUT button GAIN MIC input side , what`s the difference in practice and which level do you indicate? And those buttons Setup and Harmony Patch, does it serve to do what? Thanks a lot!
Q- lets say you want to do 7 Bridges Road. Can you bypass the guitar to get just vocals? In other words, still play guitar but it not be heard and only the vocals be heard.....
I just bought this Vocalist live 3 but i was disapponited the the harmonies sometimes out of tune in Patch 1, even the lead singer is not out of tune can you help me bout this. Many thanks
Technical Question:
Does this unit always play two harmonies?
Can it be set to play only one harmony, not two?
Further, can it be set to double up on the lead vocal and also have a harmony?
Im pretty sure the vocalist live 5 has those settings youre asking for. Check it out
Hi, Can anyone help to decide between digitech voicelive 3, tc helicon voicelive play and the digitech voicelive harmony fx?
Thnks

SweetwaterSound ok do you have skype, im from Argentina, in what time i could call?
Just curious, which did u choose and why?
I agree and disagree! On the one hand using it as a harmony tool will add colour to a performance. Ive played in both bands and as a solo act and its nice to have the harmonies there that obviously are not possible as a solo artist. I wouldnt feel cheated if I heard the odd harmony now and again the same as with a loop pedal. The bit I would feel cheated about is the "pitch correction" function!! I personally wouldnt use this. Learn the right notes, dont let technology work it out for you!
How well would this work with a hard rock/classic rock band where you aren't always necessarily playing the entire chord form?
The guitar got better sounding with the mix of things but the harmonizer has some alvin and the chipmunks going on.
A very fair and pertinent comment. You are right..at least YOU are generating the vocals live. I would also like to add that when I made the original comment I had never seen anyone use a harmoniser live. Now having seen a few good solo acts use them to good effect I am indeed a convert! yeah. Mr Sceptic sees the light. It still takes talent and musicianship to use them well and boy they add so much on choruses and the odd line. I did nt feel cheated and I m getting one!! Again, great vid dude!
Just remember to turn off the harmonize button at the end of a song so you don't sound like an alien from outer space when you start talking to the audience!
I'd used the VL2 for years and may buy this newer version. Your "trickery" comment really intrigues me, as 80% of my competition for tourism gigs utilizes prerecorded backing tracks. That's glorified karaoke, except with just one performer instead of a bunch of patrons and a signup sheet. At least, I'M generating the vocal parts emulated by this Digitech product. It's all "live" and it's "me," so to speak. BIG difference. There's more integrity with a harmonize than Band In A Can.
Give Sweetwater music a call and they will help you out. They don't try to sell you gear, they try to help you get the right stuff for where you are musically. They know their stuff, too. Excellent store, or should I say, musical community. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or top notch pro, they can help you. They are THE BEST source for anything you want for music, best service, knowledge and warranty, too. Give em' a call and they'll hook you up.
hi can you please tell me whats the difference between live3 and live 4.(functions) before i purchase one. thanks
Matt is very talented, and very well versed in this product line. I use this pedal three nights a week and will say it sounds very good when used tastefully. This video honestly doesn't do this product justice. It really does sound more natural than this.
No one seems to ever say in any of the reviews, can this make a voice that is bad sound decent? If you answer ill buy one!
Very good demo. I just ordered a Live 5.
Matt you are amazing at music butt I went with the TC Helicon H1 it's so easy to use.
how ever all the stuff you do sounds great if I was younger and had all the time in the world to learn I might have gone with Digitech.
I want to hear someone who can't sing use one of these... You know like me so I know if I should buy one lol
I have two and it is like raising the dead from the members of my group that are no longer with me. Now I ahve to look into the Jamman pedals to fill in the gaps. Thanks!
Hi. It can usted with bases guitarra ?
stop the freakin strings from ringing free my friend!
Can you use this with a keyboard yamaha psr 910 or korg sp250
Just bought one of these. Made performing a BAZILLION times more fun!! Crowds like it too, but how fun it is is more important, especially if you like verb and delays on your voice.
way too much talking and not enough demo !
@Loading17 Seagull, Seagull, Seagull......
sounds to robot'ish to my taste :-(
Does this also work if you play the bass?
this is fuckin awsome
i got one yeah!
Soryy but it sounds too fake to me. Great review though. I would totally buy one if it sounded better. It's a great concept
I'd have to agree. Automated harmonies don't work. There's no movement in the harmony. Sounds synthetic. I'm more interested in the reverb fx + guitar fx.
Too much guitar !!
Yes....more cowbell!!!
Is that as good as it can manage?...yikes
dude from pirates of the carribean!
more unperfection in the timing of the voices and it would sound more real. you could go as letting your own voice delay and play a devicevoice some milliseconds before it. my suggestion as an option.
horrible digital harmonies.
his guitar sounds really bad. too much piezo, big time.
Now, I don't know... it still sounds really artificial. I also usually dislike solo artists using it the most obvious way... it just sounds plain stupid for polyphonic stuff...
I would like it fir there could be a different timbre on the harmony voices.
