But perhaps you should be worried. Those here legally won't be safe when Trump's administration will be targeting ALL immigrants, regardless of whether they are here legally, or not. There's even the possibility that US citizens, born here, whose parents and grandparents are all considered US citizens, could end up deported to a country they don't have any ancestry in. Puerto Ricans could be deported to Mexico, simply because they speak Spanish and are a little too brown for Trump's liking. It doesn't matter what kind of paperwork you have, to prove your legal status or citizenship, if ICE denies it's authenticity, or claims your documents were forged or stolen. I've seen 2 cases where Italian-American US citizens have been deported to Argentina and Mexico, because ICE claimed their birth certificates were either fake or belong to someone else.

To my understanding, the U.S. cannot render someone stateless. Removing U.S. citizenship requires that the individual have another, and that’s not always the case. Upon accepting U.S. citizenship, some ppl either relinquish or otherwise forfeit their previous citizenship, leaving them as U.S. nationals only. How would de-nationalization work in such cases?

Being born in America grants U.S. citizenship by birthright, but this policy should be reevaluated in cases where both parents entered the country illegally. Granting automatic citizenship under these circumstances undermines the rule of law and incentivizes illegal immigration. Citizenship should reflect a commitment to the nation’s legal and societal framework, not serve as a loophole for circumventing immigration laws. Revising this policy would uphold fairness, ensure respect for legal processes, and maintain the integrity of the nation’s borders.

Why don’t Puerto Ricas never realize the Island is a US territory. Puerto Rico isn’t its own country. Y’all are fine.

@@Aperson8394 Unless ICE insists they are really Mexicans, and not Puerto Ricans, and contests the validity of their birth certificates, claiming they are either forgeries or stolen.

@ Are you saying all Mexicans are illegal? That’s what your argument implies. I doubt they would be so presumptuous as you are. Especially when legal documentation would be required.
Anyone with basic US citizenship education would be aware of Us states/territories.

@@Aperson8394 Your words may have been spoken before, in Germany, by German citizens that did not believe that all the Jews could or would be rounded up, sent to concentration camps, and gassed. Certainly there were laws against that sort of thing, right? And courts that would never let Hitler do that, right? And legal documentation, and due process, and all that, to prevent stuff like that from occurring, right?
BTW, I personally know of TWO Italian-Americans, born in the US, that were deported to Mexico and Argentina, after Immigration disputed the validity and authenticity of their birth certificates and other documents. The federal government even fought with both Mexico and Argentina, while these two were held in detention centers, to force those two countries to accept people that were not from there, never had been there, didn't have any family there, and didn't speak a word of Spanish.
ANYONE, of any age, any race, any national origin, citizen or not, born here or not, can potentially end up being deported to somewhere else, and you won't get to pick what country they send you to, if it happens to you. And due process, documents, courts, or anything may not help you.

Look at Tennessee. There is a case where they did not acknowledge a 77 year old man born in Canada to two American citizens, as a citizen. They refused his real ID license. The local news did a report on it. Look it up and watch it.
