  • *No, I cannot upload the whole movie because I do not want my account deleted. However, if you would like to request clips, just send me a pm.*
This is a clip from the 1992 rare version of The Turn of the Screw. Set in the 1960's, this modern take on TOTS is by far one of the most creative in my opinion. Though not without faults, it remains the only version (to my knowledge) to utilize the frame device from the original story (putting its own spin on it).
My purpose in including this clip is to educate the masses on the different versions of the James' story. Please look for future vids from me in the future. I plan to do a lot with this channel now that I have the motivation to do so.
Unfortunately this adaptation has not yet made it to dvd but you can find it easily on ebay or amazon.com from third party sellers. Perhaps if enough people buy it, it'll get released to dvd.

There's a "Shining" quality to that scene.

@DJas118 I totally agree with you. Hollywood thinks it has found a better way to scare by chopping the scenes, but only ruins what could have been a decent movie. The 1961 version is great. Why does Hollywood think they have to improve upon technique that already worked so well 50 years ago is beyond me.

When your a kid this movie does effectively creep you out. Me and my sister watched it when we were about 8 or 9

The music, the dramatic appearance, the editing: T_T. Although it did make me like Miss Jessel more. I think she did regret her actions.

This is the version with Patsy Kinsett (spelling), right? I saw this once several years ago and I loved it!!! I thought it was the scariest adaptation, ever.
I would love to find this on DVD...

In the book it's very different. That ghost is creepy and evil.

Hmm. While this doesn't seem like a bad version, there are too many cutaway shots for this to be effectively scary for me. Like, they showed the ghost and then cut to a close-up of the governess (?), ghost- governess, ghost-governess, wash, rinse, repeat. It just made it seem choppy. Great music, though. I still need to see all of these movies, but so far the first one appears to be the best. You know me. I love the classics. ;)

At 0:18 was that a rocket or a phallic symbol that was drawn?
