This has to be quite possibly the best movie I've ever seen in IMAX. Absolutely fantastic story line and cinematography. Never a dull moment. I already can't wait for part 3.
@mattlawson714 Oh, the sound track from Hanz Zimmer is awesome and in IMAX it just doesnt get any better. I have some of the sounds stuck in my head like when Paul rode the Sandworm and a few others. It's that good. ᑐ ᑌ ᑎ ᕮ is a masterpiece by Denis Villanueva for sure.
What I like about this scene is that the Sandworm seems to understand that something is forcibly prying open its scale, and makes an active attempt to try and get rid of it by making a wild swing to the other side and slamming through several dunes, before giving up and spinning so that scale is up and away from exposure to the sands on either side. Compare that to the original movie, where it simply accepts the fact that something wrong happened to its scale and doesn't make even a token attempt at removing the obstruction.
I said “that’s what she said” and then the whole theater laughed again and they all stood up and clapped and the president came down and gave me an award and handshake.
what worm. i dont actually see any worm. only sand movement. they should learn from monster movie where ut actually show the monster and not just the darkness horror background
@hendman4083 only when going through underground aquifers - they are meant to allow the worm to drain water from damp sand without having to open the mouth So the analogy is because you can breathe through your mouth shouldn't you be fine with a hair dryer pointing down your throat
This film is a visual and auditory masterpiece. If it does not sweep the Oscars next year for every technical category and win Best Picture, I’m going to be writing some letters to people of import.
I've watched this movie 3 times in the cinema at this point. Not a single movie has ever brought the amount of goosebumps and excitement as this one. It's just as good even on the third watch. Best movie I've ever seen. Hence why I've seen it 3 times in a matter of 3-4 weeks.
What a masterpiece of moviemaking! Sparse dialogue because the drama is overwhelming and the visuals do the talking. Now this truly does justice to the Dune novels. Nothing cheesy in this clip!
Last week I was in the Cinema and watched Dune 2...I was so impressed, so overwhelmed by the Masterpiece that unfolded in front of my ears, eyes, that I go again this Saturday and watch it once more! There is still so much to discover... This thing you have to watch several times! Everything is epic in this movie, pictures, storyline, music!!!! My favorite movie in a long time! ❤👌👌👌
Great edit, the extra background track during the Worm luring prep cutting away to complete silence as the camera focused on Chani's shocked/ concerned face when the giant worm emerges was 🔥
I’ve been reading the books since the 60’s and have seen all the movies and tv series. This is the only movie that shows what conquering and riding a sandworm must be like. Absolutely fantastic!
As the son of a Bene Gesserit, he was most likely going through their mantra. Fear is the mind killer. Have you read the book yet? Still such a masterpiece, even after having read it 5 times.
Just to clarify, there won't be a part 3. Part 3 will actually be the 2nd movie….. Dune Messiah Because of immense universe of the books there has to be 2 parts (movies) for each book. Another thing for you guys who haven't read the books…… Paul isn't the main character of the story. His son Leto II will be the main character
looking forward to where they go with the original source material. I came to Dune through the Lynch Film, then Villeneuve's first film. Subsequently watched the Children of Dune & Messiah available on Prime and have thoroughly enjoyed all versions. I'm now reading through the books and they are magnificent, probably the most enjoyable medium of all to experience the Dune Universe as they contain so much more.
Looking forward to the movie. Only thing that bothers me: dude has spent years on Arrakis at this point and has a complexion that would render him invisible against a glacier lol.
It is incredible with those scenes that many of us have been able to deduce that the sandworm rotates to try to close the scales that open in its skin with the hooks.
Everyone thinks they're the Bees Knees until a Giant Worm pop outs the ground. Those Sardaukar soldiers must have been thinking "I wasn't supposed to be here today!!!!" or "We didn't train for this!". I still want to see a scene that demonstrates how the hell they get the palanquin onto the Worm with the Reverend Mother inside. I'm thinking suspending the palanquin between two mounds on rope. Feel free to describe your theory....
The worms are impressive but what is their method of propulsion? The sand must be fired out of its anus at high velocity like a jet ski. The worm must weigh up to about 50,000 tons so the power output required could be as much as 1000 megawatt at that speed, which seems extremely high for a biological organism.
Have not seen the new version yet but the maker hook in the old version looked exactly as described in the book. Enough for the sand to bother the tender insides of the worm. In like the thumpers better in the old version.

The hooks are a key feature to the scene, as they make the worm rise to the surface when Paul pulls the scaly plate open exposing the skin between.
Evolution would not have resulted in a design in which the plates would be able to open facing the travel direction.......
