How to use the battery HVAC with Optimized Idle in a Freightliner Cascadia

I’m in a 2024 only the fan runs on optimize idle. All night I’m sweating and the I get 1 hour of cold air when the engine cranks and then it’s back to sweating. I’ve had it before in my 2021 and it would restart all night making sure it held the temp it was set at. This system is trash and my button has the word park in the middle of the temp controller in the bunk.

True so true, and the only way I found to over ride the engine down is by releasing the tractor break

@@maddog7465 I took a chock block, and put it in front of my steering wheel tire. Then release the tractor break and it keep the engine going

Dang, Im in a 2024. No power button, so IDK how to turn on the setting. The way it is now, if the truck is off, so is the HVAC. Was twrrible in the summer where the outside temp would be 85, so it wouldnt activate interior confort, but the sun would bake the truck to like 100 inside, so Id spend the day getting up and turning the truck on every 5 mins.
Would I hold down the AC button instead to activate this?

@brandonpeacenlove4375 I never did find out how to solve the issue, but luckily I'm not working in that truck anymore.
In my current truck, if I turn on the cruise control while the parking brake is set, I can raise the Idle by a couple hundred RPMs and keep the truck on. I'm in an older manual Cascadia though, so IDK if it works for the AMTs or newer trucks...

This video helps me tremendously thank you for posting this video. I had nothing but negative comments about this system until I watch this video. My experience with this battery hvac goes like this I’m waking up in the middle of the night sweating because it’s extremely hot. I’ll turn on the truck and sit there and wait just to cool off. It’s summer time temperature are in 117 degrees doing my reset I can’t nap for long because I would wake up like I just got out the pool hot hot. With idle on I don’t have to get up. The cab doesn’t feel like a sauna room anymore.

This is mostly for AC, If you want heat you have to turn the key all the way to the left to accessory position and turn on your Espar Heater

If the truck has the DD 15 engine, then it's probably because Optimized Idle is disabled in the parameter settings. Not all fleets allow this to be used.
