Ralph Macchio Classical & Blues [Crossroads 1986] [+TABS]

- Ah, this is a classic one! The movie is Crossroads, from 1986 starring Ralph Macchio and has a Steve Vai (as the devil) in the ending if I recall correctly. I transcribed this awesome superposition of classical tunes (Mozart, etc) and blues for you viewing and learning pleasure. Please note that in Paganini's Caprice, I transcribed as standard tuning but due to the bass F note in the end of the sequence, Its probably tuned a halftone above, in F (which I DO NOT recommend doing because of additional tension in your guitar and other nasty stuff that could happen, you could damage your guitar neck for instance)

Of anyone pretending to be a musician in film, this kid was the best at faking I’ve ever seen
It's because is Steve Vai Hands
Trivia, he have learn finger position of notes before filming
@Hackfuey So? Being 25 makes you magically good at guitar?
@@remnant24 hahaha I thought just the same
@Joce C him and Jamie Lee Curtis in freaky Friday did very well.
Mr miyagi taught him everything
ahahahahahahha dat damn old man
😁
hahahahahahahahaha 😂😂
😂👍
Hahahahahahahah niceee
"Remember Daniel san. Tabs on, tabs off"
I have alot of nostalgia for this movie, its such a nice self contained story about a humble young dude discovering the gritty lifestyle of the blues and in the end helping an old man from his lifelong debt by using his monstrous classical skills to defeat basically a videogame final boss at the end in most epic way, good stuff.
I believe it’s the genius guitar wizard Steve Vai actually playing each note for our ears. Actor Ralph M. does a masterful job of faking plausible finger and hand positions, and movements, at exactly the right times. Both wizards in their own way.
Steve Vai and Ry Cooder
Arlen Roth was his tutor for the film and Bill Kanengiser played the classical parts.
It's William Kanengiser playing. Ive had lessons with him.
What about Ry cooler ?
@@stephanyodaniel7970 yes roy did the slide parts for sure
Fantastic. Can't believe it's taken so long for somebody to do this.
This will take me a few years to master!
@@robd1329 Yeah, the blues stuff is Ry Cooder, I think. He has such a cool vibe. It's tough to replicate. I haven't the technique for the classical stuff - who does! lol
This inspired me to play MORE guitar. Greatest movie for musicians.
I love How Ms Narcisso starts giggling when he hits the blues part.
Been wanting to play the last tune for decades since I saw the movie in the early 90s. Thank you sir.
This is so awesome to find, so many videos focus on the final duel, no one ever took time to focus on the awesome parts during the beginning and middle. Well done....now for me to try practice and duplicate some of this.
Made the day for thousands of us that never ever would have gotten thru these without your time and effort’s. Tasty and always fun to play.
I've been looking for this for years, what a surprise to find this now. Thanks a lot !
BRO SAME! 🤣
The same
Yes!

This was the video that got me into classical guitar! Thanks for posting the tabs! I will definitely tackle it some time.
I’ve watched this movie a million times lol. I can quote every line in it lol. Great video btw 👍🏼👍🏼👏👏
Bill kannegiesser Is the actual guitar player for all the classical pieces and the nylon blues stuff. Ry Cooder on all the slide guitar, and of course not to forget Vai, who played the pseudo Paganini 5th caprice.
My favorite movie of all-time. Epic. RIP Joe Seneca, you are missed.
Those Miyagi licks are very reminiscent of the blues of Reseda.
Thanks for this! You are a hero of the internet.
Great video man, I’m gonna practice these for no reason now lol just like the complicated level of guitar playing here and is also a great movie as well
Wonderful, thank you - takes me back to my childhood!
This movie was actually one of the reasons I picked up a guitar back in the day. 🎸
Same here, this movie was a big part of me playing.....hell yeah
Thank you. This film is burned into my memory. Amazing breakdown.
Still one of my favorite and best eighties movies ever !
Thank you for the excellent job creating the notation. I actually copied the arpeggios/Paganini piece from VHS to cassette in 1990 and played it in my car countless times.
i´ve spending a lesson or tabs of this movie part in particular so long, actually thank you for the tabs bro
This movie Made my decision to be a guitarist
Me too
Me three
Me four...kinda. It made my decision to be a blues guitarist.
@@samgreer8274 x4
Me 5, but I turned into a bassist. Lol
Thanks for the tab on that blues riff. Been wondering about that one for awhile.
because of this kid.. I always end RAT this way.. its quite satisfying and always leaves a smile on who(m?)ever happens to hear me play hh
“Play the note, don’t play the note , repeat this for all the music sheets” xD
Awesome arrangement man! Great job.
This movie never gets old.
I started playing not long before watching this movie with my uncle and grandparents in the 90s, I genuinely thought he was playing everything and he pushed me put a lot of work in to get as good as him, lol.
And it worked! You where as good as him!
Svaka čast , majstore !!!👏👏👏
Oh my God! I never thought that day would come!! Thank you so much!! 🥳👍💪🎸
FUAAAA MAAAANNN ESTO LO ESPERABA HACE 2 AÑOS😍💥
Wow thank you brother never thought anybody would transcript the tabs like that

You, sir, are a hero.
Lightnin' boy. Classic movie!

Awesome video dude thanks
Thanks For this, I've been waiting to play this for 19 years.
This will be very useful to me, Thanks.
Hace años vi esta película....
Gran cine el de los 80...y buen momento para volverla a ver!!!
Cómo se llama ésta película?
Ralph machio nailed the guitar playing thats for sure👍👍👍
Amazing job! Thanks for sharing
and now he selling cars in cobra kai..
We want moooooreeeeee!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the transcription. I recommend using a capo on the 1st fret for the caprice part. Much easier than retuning.
Ahhhh....THAT was the note!
Now, I can finally play it authentically correct, after all of these years...
I remember learning this (the end version) in the dual. Spent 50 hours straight on it.
Thanks for this 😎👍
You're so awesome for this! ❤ Can you please do more songs from Crossroads?
I really could have used this video years ago, but I already figured these parts by ear and I'm glad I was right on target, great video though.
I love this movie since the very first day I saw, long time ago. ☺️
This video is a crossroad :). Thank you
Thanks for this ❤️
MUCHAS GRACIAS!! por compartirlo gran trabajo.
Hace muchos años que busco la canción del minuto 1:10

Thanks for this. Always thought the licks in this movie were it! Such perfect blues. Would love more Ry Cooder's work in this movie transcribed!
I've been putting them up on my channel Eric...got 4 of Ry's tunes up so far.
@@JeremyJames_studio That's awesome-thanks!
@@ericglock6932 Cheers Eric- putting together a quick lesson the tune at the crossroads today 👍
Thank you for this
Great!!! Luv it!!!
fantastic, thank you
Thank you very much!
Classic!
Thanks a lot sir!
Omg bro,thanks :D
Thank you so much! New subscriber.
Thanks my friend.
Thank you !
Your welcome! If you have another famous pop culture guitar stuff let me know!
thankyou many times over -
Muchas gracias
Awesome!
THANK YOU!!!
Phenomenal back and forth in the movie
Excelente, thanks!
👏👏👏 good job !!
I actually like this fragment of Paganini's 5th caprice much more than the way it is now commonly interpreted on classical guitar - pushing the tempo to the limit and losing the music in the process. The version here is much more musical and allows to appreciate the piece rather than the player's technique.
Excellent 👍
Do you know where the intro came from?
Awesome!!
Legendary!!!!!😎
The bit where he's dualling with Vai with the guitar riffs was brilliant, I think I will watch this again the wknd, there's a new guitar based movie out which is supposed to be brilliant called- 'Cloud' watch that too
in reality Steve via was playing aginst himself Machio can't play the guitar
When is that coming out? Is it going to be at the movies or on Netflix or what?
@@tony69em I watch it on Kodi mate 👍
@@noname1st139 so it's not on a regular tv channel? Damn... Lol I don't even know what kodi is.

i expected the Cream song, but oh well...props to Ralph for either Learning how to play, or at least learning how to Fake it 'realistically'...
