What the rivalry came down to: Chris Bliss = medium juggling skills, superb music interpretation skills Jason Garfield = superb juggling skills, crap music interpretation skills
Chris Bliss's routine (act) is about the entertainment, not the complexity or technical skills of the performer. Two different magicians can take the same trick and 'perform' it flawlessly. And yet one might be much more 'entertaining' because of the performer's presentation.
Garfield wasn't showing how his routine was better, he was showing how Bliss' routine wasn't hard at all to perform. He doesn't like when people claim that Bliss' routine is amazing and complicated when it is simple, yet crowd pleasing.
Sounds like sour grapes on garfield's part. when you listen to him speaking during competitions he is full of himself, and bliss getting attention is too much for him to bare.
You're exactly right... I think the whole fight started when people went all "Ooh, he's the best juggler in the world". Of course he's not, not even close but then again nobody's going to disagree that this is a nice routine :)
I'm sad to see that Penn Jillette called Garfield's rather embarassingly stiff and unmusical display "making fun of", since it wasn't funny, except inasmuch as you laugh at Garfield's utter lack of feel for music, rhythm and showmanship.
@sciencerolla do you actually know, that you are better than him? perhaps chris bliss can juggle 10 balls like jason but just perform 3 balls because it isn't exhausting and still impressive for the audience. Never thought of?
Yeah, I like how people are all, "Jason your just jealous," and I'm all "Jason isn't jealous, he's proving a point." Except they don't have such good: Spelling, Grammar and, Punctuation. =D
he ought to realise that there are better jugglers out there than him. People who have normal full time jobs and could still put some manners on him despite his limitless hours of practice.
Whoa! Here is how it is! Liberace was NOT the best piano player BUT he was the best entertainer. Jason is technically fantastic but he is NOT the entertainer Bliss is. Some people can dance better than others and some can dance longer. Jason is fantastic but let the numbers speak for themselves. Liberace went for the TV antenna folks and not for the tuxedo folks. He knew what he was doing and we all know the results. Jason, you are fantastic but Bliss is a damn good juggler by almost anyone's standards but yours. Best of luck buddy.
@birdstamper14 You obviously have no idea what talking about.. Jason garfield is one of the greatest jugglers in the world, and pushes the limits of juggling in general. Know what your talking about before you open your mouth.
I remember this rivalry from a few years ago. I saw the Chris Bliss video first and loved it. Garfield's diss to me seems exactly like a super fast shredder type guitarist bagging out an old slow hand like Eric Clapton or BB king. Yes the faster guys may be more technical but doesn't mean they are better. Comes down to taste. I loved the grace that Chris brought to a classic Beatles song, he was obviously a fan of the song and gave it the respect it deserved. Garfield just came across as arrogant and sour because he feels he is technically better, and why isn't he getting the praise. Sour grapes!
It’s a bit different. Because juggling is totally objective and is a sport, but also can be performed. Instead of it being like comparing two guitar players. It’d be closer to comparing a great guitar player to a great guitar hero player.

3 balls goes better with music. And its easier to watch.

yeah, the music is from The Beatles... not exactly bliss' "own music"
If you're going to comment on someone else's grammar, although i agree it was ironic in the situation, at least pay attention to your own!
@GreatDelfador actually, yes, we do know that he cannot juggle that many balls. you are about 4 years and a dollar short, sir. thanks for playing LOL

are your incorrect spelling, grammar and punctuations intentional ?
ture to that jason is so much better
Are yours?
Yeah Chris Bliss sucks compared to Jason Garfield. Even I'm better than him.
