    Wow, thank you so much for breaking these simple points down. I never know what I want to do with my hair before washing it. I try to figure it out after the wash😂. So this is a revelation for me. I will say that my hair after the third washday is way easier to manage. I have very fine, naturally high porous hair and I finally know how to keep my hair from drying out too fast from the wash to set process. Still haven’t mastered the wash n go, so I just do braid outs. Plus I may need a cut to really rock a cute wash n go. But I’m loving this. Thank you Black Girl Curls❤❤❤

    Hello I have been on the challenge and it is going great! My wash and goes are looking good . I have been using uncle funkys daughter and innersense gel with my wash and goes. My style last 7 days. My hair is very moisturized for most of the days. I have gray hair too. Thanks for the info on taking care of the hair.

    Hey I just wanted to say I appreciate what you are doing as to simplifying the natural hair process. As a lot of people find it overwhelming. I work with a trichologist clinic and an Aveda Salon Creative Director stylist to manage my hair.
    My hair type: ultra-dry, naturally high porosity, ultra-fine, 4c curl pattern. I have a sensitive easily inflamed scalp. I have bleached blond highlights done by the stylist.
    Here are the products that the trichologists recommended for my hair and scalp type for optimal health: shampoo, conditioner, leave-in lotion-like detangler and leave-in heavy cream conditioner, scalp water-based gel and scalp water-based mist. Clinic Method: shampoo weekly, deep condition weekly, apply leave-ins daily, and air-dry in twists or 2 or three french braids. No oils, no butters, no stylers and no wash and gos or any style with the ends out. No dye but I'm disobedient. Lol!
    Here are what Aveda has recommended for my hair and type: Protein and Olaplex. Olaplex no.3 once a week due to the bleach/dye. Otherwise once every 3/4 weeks. Protein as needed and as per the brand directions. Salon Method: shampoo, condition, apply treatments, use stylers such as gels, foams and curl creams and diffuse. Salon cuts curly or straight. I prefer straight at least once or twice a year....depending on my ends.
    Neither the trichologists or the Aveda Salon detangle wet/at the shampoo bowl...probably because my hair is ultra-fine and most fragile while wet.
    I swim, exercise outdoors and do a manual job and live in a polluted urban city with very hard water in a temperate humid climate. Therefore my additional products are a co-wash for lots of swimming and exercise during the week, a chelating and clarifying shampoo once every 4 to 6 weeks and anti-cholrine swimmer shampoo.
    My average wash day is one hour every 7-10 days. It's a bit longer if I have to do a pre-poo with a store-bought product for tangles and dryness, or a protein treatment or Olaplex. I've been natural since 2009 and stopped using oils butter and grease as recommended by the trichologists in 2019. Most weeks I don't use any styler...I just style with my leave in. I'm not that bothered about definition and hold. I'm more interested in health because I can easily suffer with hair loss.

    Are leave in conditioners harmful?

    • @BlackGirlCurls
      @BlackGirlCurls  Рік тому +5

      No, leave-in conditioners are not harmful. They are low hold to no hold stylers that give their hair pliability when setting and styling. Be sure to sign up to our email list, link in the bio to receive a copy of our Wash Your Damn Hair Challenge digital download to learn more.

    These videos are so helpful! I think I know what the issue is with my hair: I’ve only been using moisturizing shampoos and my wash and go only looks good for one or two days max and it’s so discouraging. I don’t use oils or butters either. My conditioning skills could use some work too lol, I detangle as best I can. I’ll have to find a good all purpose shampoo, hopefully that helps me

    Why do you need two different gels? What does a base gel do vs. what does a topper gel do?

    • @BlackGirlCurls
      @BlackGirlCurls  Рік тому +2

      Base gels are typically humectant helping the hair to absorb moisture while the toppers are typically anti-humectant.
