When I ran across this tape over a year ago, it was while I was looking for something else. I didn't remember that I had it. It is truly lighting captured in a bottle. The thing is, Clay would talk like this with anyone. He loved discussing pop culture, cartoons, horror movies, genre shows and the like.
@@pleasestandby4496 He was the most fun, energizing person to hang around with, and hands-down the best storyteller I ever knew. He observed everything to the minutest detail and spat it back out like the deranged cartoonist he was. One of the many stories of his I wish I had filmed him telling involved a rude waiter, observed through a window, discovering Clay's non-tip (despite the bill being marked "MUST PAY TIP!"). He evoked Lon Chaney, Jr. as the Wolf Man to give you the reaction shot. I'm still laughing twenty years later.

That was Don Harden, who was just an acquaintance of Clay's going back to the late 1970s when they worked as artists in different departments at Six Flags. Clay worked with airbrush t-shirts and Don worked with caricatures. The airbrush guys were closer to Clay and they have many great stories to tell.
RIP, Clay. Still hurts SO much that such a talented man left us so young. Thanks for sharing this.
Wow, thanks for uploading this! It’s great to hear old interviews with Croker.
Clay, how great to hear your voice again.
