Thank you for taking the time to present a well laid out and superbly archived history of these WW2 operations. You've added a great deal towards the understanding of this overlooked area of WW2 history.
I thought I was pretty familiar with the Pacific War, but I learned something new watching this video. Despite the robo voice anytime I learn something new I have to give a thumbs up. Anytime I enjoy learning something new I have to subscribe. My uncle fought in New Guinea with MacArthur and another with Stilwell in China. Never hear a lot about these campaigns. Good job.
I just discovered these videos yesterday and have already watched a few of them. I have a lot of interest in the early ( US, Aus ) portions of the war, esp in the south pacific. Have found these videos entertaining and informative. they are helping me learn more on the subject. There are few videos on you tube on this subject. so, thank you Vector Historia for making and posting these!
my grandfather worked as an army engineer on costal defences in Northern Australia and the Dutch East Indies, when we cleared out stuff from his estate after his passing we found ordinance maps for much of the area from eastern Java, through Bali to Timor and western Papua and further north in to southern Sulawesi and Kalimantan which included known radar coverage of both allied and Japan radar (both air and sea) as well as maximum range for known Japanese bomber and escort aircraft, along with that there were details on fortification work, I believe most of this was passed on to the Australian War Museum. He never talked much about his war experiences so I can't help any further.
Osprey Publishing has some good titles on this theatre - Java Sea, 1942 for example. There’s plenty written on the Japanese conquest of Malaya and Singapore, Osprey again have some titles on this. (I’m in Australia, so I’ve been particularly interested in reading about WW2 in the South Pacific and SE Asia.)

Sire, this is good video, and and detail in narrative. I must add, the local at Bali is really readily to revolt againts Dutch so no wonder if they were deserted at the first light of battle.
@I Kadek Calum Leys for those that first start reading about WWII with the Japanese, a very good overall intro is the one volume work by Castello, "The Pacific War". It also pieces in important conferences that determined the Allied priorities, especially by Churchhill and Roosevelt. It's rather long pre history can be discarded for the start. It may be a little bit incomplete in some big battles, but it sure tells you who was fighting with whom and when and where. The loss of the East Indies and the Malay Peninsula were particularly disheartening. And it covers enough detail to figure out what you need to research next.
I liked it. This was a well done video and seems well researched. The maps looked good and the animation was fine. The robot narrator was actually much better than other ones I have heard and while there were pronunciation issues they weren't that bad. Also, bravo on covering this pretty well unknown period of WWII!

Interesting but the computer generated narrative is appalling. The pronunciation of many place names, person's names, and grammatical errors are absolutely awful.
I pretty much hate computer-generated voices. But some people are self-conscious about their ability to speak publicly or even on video.others may have a difficult accent for their audience to be able to understand. This is in some cases the only option. I will readily admit it's kind of distracts from an otherwise good explanation of the battle. The ability to generate these graphics is determined by the software they have access to and their skill level with it. Fundamentally his content was accurate as far as I can remember. I think that's really the point of the video.just my opinion not trying to start a debate or argument. I will say this when the first Macintosh computer came out and I discovered it could translate text to speech I had a lot of fun! Sadly even the Macintosh had trouble with pronunciation of words.the last time I used the feature was on a Mac mini with leopard OS running a Motorola 6800 series processor.
I came back after watching your new video, Prelude to The Philippines Campaign , narration was great. Please ask RMcD/Ross if they will help you with this one.
The robot voice threw me off at first but this was a surprisingly good break down with plenty of detail and nice animation. I don't feel confident enough to comment on historical accuracy so I'll leave it at that.
Great Video, good presentation... So many complaints about the voice, your missing the point, who cares what it sounds like, its the Information that is conveyed that's important not how a voice is generated. From my perspective the ABDA fleet and US Navy were hardly a fighting force at this time. I don't know why Doorman didn't want to fight, perhaps because he as among the last of the Dutch assets but the loss of Bali was a significant defeat. Again and again we see a lack of strategy, a lack of insight, and a lack of aggressiveness combined with terrible torpedoes make the naval opposition to Japan a joke. No wonder the Japanese thought the West couldn't fight. They wouldn't.

I personally believe that Midway was NOT the decisive battle. The battle of the Coral Sea was far more important and along with this battle was far more important. Imagine if the Japanese were more successful in damaging the American carriers (sinking both the american carriers) reducing American carrier strength by 40 percent. Furthur reducing allied naval strength, and keeping Australian troops from reinforcing anyone. Think about it.
The computer voice is not that bad. Just people that can't think with another language than their own. You could Even use your original language and good subtitles.

Seems to me that the faulty malfunctioning American torpedoes were a big reason for the defeat.
The exploders didn't work properly. A glancing shot worked, which they were trained as a bad idea.
