I will have to try this. I had wondered and thought I would experiment with it. The constant music is very distracting and not needed though. Thanks for the video!

I’ve watched quite a few videos about QAYG on the longarm, but I love your method of resolving the raw edge issue! Thank you 😊

I did this on my sewing machine when using scraps to make mats for the SPCA. I think this is a great idea. I am going to do this on my longarm. Would love to see with contrast theead just for demonstration. Thank you.

I would be interested to know how the quilting looks on the back.

Sandy Allen, It's a wonderful concept, and I do appreciate Leanne sharing this, but...I tried this method today and was very disappointed with how the back of the quilt looked. I ended up ripping out the first entire "block" (messy and very time consuming, to say the least) and added a completed quilt top to work on instead.

I think it would be wise to use a very busy backing when using this method. Maybe match the bobbin thread color to the back, for better blending. And also, I think a little economy planning of the stitch path would prevent a lot of “scribbling” on the back. (I haven’t tried it yet, tho.) I was thinking this would be a great way to make a picnic or car quilt, to experiment on; then could refine the technique after, or even as you go. 🌷
