      Same here. A close friend who died of cancer at 44 . Sung by the wonderful cadgwith singers. Persevere, listen regularly and it'll lose the pain and replace with the beauty of it 😊

    It’s my dream to one day raise the St Piran’s in a Cornwall recognised within the UK, singing this song all the while 😊

    I am from England but my great grandmother is from Cornwall. I am from Devon which is Cornwall's cousin. But I believe Cornwall and Devon still share so much together as we were from the ancient tribe of Dumnonia. I consider Cornwall as its own country but under the UK the same as Wales.
    I wish Cornwall and Devon could reunite once again. I've tried to learn Cornish but it's hard to learn when you don't live in Cornwall.

      it's hard to learn even in Cornwall, the grammar is very difficult to wrap one's head around, that might be self-evident. Dumnonia is the Roman/Latin name. my favourite outside depiction of Cornwall is a 12th century map which shows the southwestern peninsula going off the edge of the paper, the single word written next to it just reads "abomine", translated: "unknown"

    Hi, amazing video, you've got to love our homeland. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to tell me where the rocks are that appear at 1.32 please? Thanks

      Vaughan Try Thanks for the message Vaughan. The rocks are at Godrevey which is on the North Coast of Cornwall close to Godrevey Lighthouse.

    It is a lovely and beautiful song. However, Trelawney is our anthem, it was against the forced introduction of written English in the prayer book and our fight against that. Against a step in our assimilation.

    This should be the Cornish anthem. It's a celebration of the county. Chuck that awful militaristic anachronism that is Trelawney into the bin of history.

    • @gramursowanfaborden5820
      @gramursowanfaborden5820 3 роки тому +2

      i like Trelawny. yes it has dated connotations and questionable accuracy, but that hasn't dissuaded us in other instances. i think it's the epitome of Cornish attitude to march all the way to London and then call the King's standing army cowards.

    • @WaitingforGodot
      @WaitingforGodot 3 роки тому

      @@gramursowanfaborden5820 we'll have to disagree on that. I just find the divisive militarism unnecessary. There's also the implied exclusion of women. In recent weeks I've seen examples elsewhere of aggressive nationalism from some people. I live in Cornwall, my Cornish roots go back centuries but what's important to me is the distinctive beauty not a mythical event a long time ago.

    • @gramursowanfaborden5820
      @gramursowanfaborden5820 3 роки тому

      @@WaitingforGodot that "aggressive nationalism" is an appropriate reaction to centuries of imperialism and cultural assimilation. Cornwall's distinctive beauty is in it's culture, it's customs, it's history, not just the bleddy rocks. mythical events are part of Cornwall just as much as the scenery, one and all. Cornwall My Home is quite specific to west Penwith anyway, someone from Looe or St Agnes isn't going to associate anywhere near as much with this as someone from St Just is. Trelawny is equally appropriate for the whole of the Kernow.

      @@WaitingforGodot well i just got back from the funeral of a very highly respected Cornishman and we sung both Cornwall My Home and Trelawny along with the choir, both sung with the same heart and resolve, both songs have become an inalienable part of Cornish culture and custom, i don't think anyone can disagree with that.
