Let's get one thing clear here. To use any 3.8 wheel with a removable hex, to have a zero offset you have no choice but to buy the very expensive alloy 17mm hex adapters. (If you can find them in stock) You cannot purchase a zero 8x32 offset in plastic which is totally unfair to every single customer. My Trencher LP's 3.8 are too wide on my Tekno MT410 but simply changing to a zero offset is far more difficult (and expensive) than it should be. Sort it out !

yep! this was a blatant money making idea. I prefer one piece wheels without the extra weight of the changeable hex. guess I'll have to go to another company for tires now. thanks PL.

yep, only found this out after i bought a set for my arrma talion, i stupidly assumed proline would of supplied zero adapters along with the wide offset, at the very least they should sell zero offset in plastic separately, i have herd the plastic proline adapters apparently strip out pretty easily, but in saying that ive completely worn out countless tyres on 1/8th trucks using fully plastic wheels without stripping hexes, would of been nice to at lease try zero offset in plastic instead of having to bend over and buy the extremely over priced alloy adapters straight of the bat, wont be buying anymore proline stuff if thats how they are going to do business.

also, just ran these tyres for the 5th time and this will be the 3rd tyre to unglue from the wheel, I'm running a talion on 4s and yet 3 of the 4 pre mounted tyres have fallen off, good job gluing the tyres proline.

Making the hex removable and with width and size options was brilliant! I'm excited to see more belted tires coming as well.

To bad the 17mm adapters are super weak and the aluminum adapters are crazy expensive.

i wonder why they did that? wouldn't be to force people into a choice of either discarding the entire wheel or bending over and spending 100 BUX on 4 extremely over priced pieces of aluminum.

I had to replace the mt4-g3 tires because of hex stripping. I got the trenchers. Pretty impressive.
The mt4 has become a pain in the ass for part support.
I will probably get a traxxas maxx or xmaxx next.

I have the Pro-Line Badlands 3.8 MTD Raid 8x32 Wheels 17mm MT F/R along with the Pro-Line 8x32 to 17mm 1/2 Offset Aluminum Hex Adapters. I noticed that after I installed all 32 screws, there are humps around each screw. I probably tightened them to much. Backing them out won't cause the tiny hump to go away. Did I cause any possible damage and would the plastic on the wheel crack?

    • @ProLineRacingYT
      @ProLineRacingYT  4 роки тому +1

      Hi @Ray Donovan,
Here is a response direct from our R&D team:
A very small bump on the inner diameter is normal but it will get bigger if the screw is over-tightened. The wheel should be fine though. We have not experienced any wheel failures due to over-tightening.
We hope this answers your question,
Thanks for your interest and support!

Put a set on my big rock, roled the car and the insert had buckled. Lucky the modelshop is sending another set out hopefully it was just a fluke.
Running 14mm hex with 7mm nylock nut, maybe the nut head should be bigger I feel the hex insert bent around the head of the nut.

    • @unkulwilly

I've been into the hobby grade part of RC for three decades. 30 years ago some oem wheels were three piece and used screws around the hubs to hold them together. aftermarket wheel manufacturers like PL were pushing the use of one piece wheels as they were lighter and stronger than the multi piece wheels. I can't for the life of me understand why they came up with this gimmick now and more so can't understand why they didn't make it an option and still provide their one piece wheels. all the older style wheels have been marked "discontinued" on their site. I have never stripped the hex on my wheels, not on stock or aftermarket ones.

The plastic centers suck. Break one every single time I take my car out within 5 minutes. Hopefully the aluminum ones don't have any issues.

    • @dandyer8351

Shame im on the fence about getting these now. Thought it was a good idea been removable. The centre hexs are cheap enough to replace, better than wasteing a whole wheel id of thought.

All it takes is using the wrong type of nut once. The nut backs off, the wheel spins and the hex inside of the wheel will round out.

The removable hubs are a CRAP design! They’re cheap and the only “upgrade” are the aluminum adapters that are $65/pair! So spend $130 on a set of wheels/tires that are guaranteed to break under light use…and then spend another $120 to keep from breaking them! I will not buy another proline product. Luckily I have my backup set. I get the idea behind it, good idea but just doesn’t work on 4s cars.
