Hope y'all are enjoying this jam packed video!! Just a note to clarify some terminology/style used. The images we captured throughout the day with multiple cameras attached could be printed and placed in a stereo viewer, but for the video I displayed them as a wiggling loop. Carlos in particular shot Ektachrome, which when developed can be placed directly into a 3D slide viewer (seen in the video). Technically the way I displayed them isn’t “3D” but it was the most fun way to exhibit the photos and concept! At any rate, there are a lot of cool ideas in this video and I’m beyond thankful to all who contributed and attended! If you want to see more videos exploring this topic, I’m definitely interested. Plus, I cannot wait to do more events like this, thanks to B&H Creators for collaborating; so hyped about all the amazing work that was created!
I saw the future of instant&traditional photography. People all over the internet are doing the art and enjoying with films in ways that old Polaroid-age people didn't even imagine. Thanks for the mind-blowing video.
Glad to be a part of this b&h event! It was def fun and watching this video shows proof of this! Loved how many people had their own segment and especially Carlos bit was endearing. Very kind hearted dude. Crispy footage Natt! Proud of you Ben!! You already know ~ kudos to Lauren for helping coordinating too!
I loved what everyone brought to this day and I agree all the little segments were so fun to break out. Carlos really brought it and I deeply appreciate his passion for this medium! Thank you x100000 for bringing your creativity to this magnificent location Joany!! You know how much it meant to me that you were there 🗣
I have a Stereo Realist 35mm that my uncle gave me years ago, and my daughter was just asking about it the other day, right before this went up. Now I have an excuse to play with it!
Ben I need to stress that this video introduced me to the concept of stereo slide photography, it’s given me a crippling addiction to ektachrome and the opportunity to take shots at my best friends wedding, thank you so much
So grateful and honored to be a part of this insanely good episode. I had an absolute blast that day creating with so many awesome peeps. Huuuuge shout out to the guy that made it all happen, Big Ben Fraternale!!!
Honestly, the Nishika despite its terrible glass (well.... plastic glass) produces some crazy results. I remember my first test roll being crap, but I got the hang of composition a bit more on my second roll(thanks to all the helpful advice online). Getting the most out of the 3D effect really does involve composing based on the foreground/backround elements because that is what can really create that 3d Pop once you take it into editing.
Totally does!! Wish it was easier to show it like that on UA-cam in some way. But, alas, this is just an intro and hopefully people will go out and explore more on their own!
My parents got married in the mid-50s and their wedding photos were 3D slides ... I have a leather cover box with a viewer ... it's the only object that I wanted from my parent's estate!!! I am a huge 3D fan ... wish lenticuler (sp) was easy!!!
This was fire!!! Such a creative idea! I would love a followup video where you go over editing the scans in post to achieve the 3D effect. PS - Pictureman Bob’s camera strap was so dang cool! 😩
I got my first Polaroid a few days ago! This channel has immediately become one of my favourites to learn with, now I just need to figure out how to make my colors right haha
Crazy brilliant idea! I recently bought a Nimslo 3D camera, and I was thinking if it was possible to replicate that effect with Polaroids. And you did it in a fun and credible way!
After watched this, I've got and an idea to put instax on my medium format camera, double expose it with blue and red. Hope it works. I always want to make 3D pictures since I was kid.
My comment on your last video "Duuude! By combining the multiple exposure and the use of a red and a cyan light, you can make "in-polaroid" 3D photos!". Uncanny!
Haha crazy we’d already shot this and people started talking with me about 3D Polaroids as we were planning this day. We have a hive mind, this community!!
Thanks for episode on stereoscopic... I'm a professional stereoscopic photographer and would like to contact Carlos, one of your guests. So glad he was there to show what analog stereo photography and a proper viewer represents as an art form. Thankful if you can prolvide his contact info. Peter
Awesome video, the Nishika looks so fun and annoying to work with, haha 😄 Can anyone explain the appeal of that camera and similar models before the age of gifs? Then you would just get a row of similar images, right? Does a viewer exist for it like with the stereo camera?
Yes, a simple stereo viewer exists for the stereoscopic cameras. And yes the 4 in a row pics used to be just that, 4 in a row, unless you made them into a video/movie.
Aside from stereo viewers, which allowed you to view two images in simulated 3D, there were also lenticular prints which were very trendy for a time. These prints appear 3D without the use of glasses and the Nishika/Nimslo cameras were able to capture the images for it.
Awesome video! I really need to have a Zoom chat with you. I have to hand it to you, you really have done wonders with the channel. Action is definitely louder than words and I've always wanted to start my own channel (since about 2016) but just never got round to it. Anyway, Im off to use my I-1, OS+ and Now+ on tripods :p
"People were really dumb." “Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.”
@@InAnInstant First, no one thought that the train was going to hit them watching Lumiere Bros. documentaries; they were startled by the effect the same way people are startled by 3D movies today without thinking Leatherface's chainsaw is actually going to carve through their faces. You only believe that's true to inflate your ego. Second, as if to prove my point that you stand on the shoulders of giants and pretend you're flying, your attitudes about race were handed to you by the previous generation. Everyone is a product of their time and had you been born a century ago, you'd have adopted whatever views on race were prevalent and safe. And if you don't think so, tell me what you think about White people. I always thought you were a putz, and now I know for sure.
The Nishika was a piece of junk, a ripoff of the Nimslo four lens stereo lenticular. The Nishika was even sold using a pyramid marketing scheme. Your intro skipped over the 1950's boom, nice that later you discovered the Realist format slides after doing the silly polaroid gif activity. A little more knowledge of stereo would have avoided taping together cameras without vertically aligning the lenes. Knowing the stereo photography 30 to 1 rule (one unit space between lenses for every 30 units to the subject) would have helped produce much better results.

It was so inspiring to be around all these folks bringing their heat, thank you mate!!
Such a fun creative day to be a part of! Everyone brought their A game and created some incredible art!
Literally my favorite person ever
Super dope location!
Agreed, shout out to Boreum Studios for hosting us!

Well now I'm going to have to find two identical point and shoots to tape together, this is sick
I just wanna stick two 20x24 cameras together and see what happens.

Carlos you slayed this!! The heart of the episode, meant a lot to me what you contributed!
This video is a banger! The educational element plus the energy and vibes are so top tier! Ordering film immediately
Couldn’t have done it without you Sara!! Thank you for bringin’ it!! 💙❤️💙❤️
So cool !
Loads of fun to watch 🙂 Thank you all 🙂
Thank YOU!!
so cool. i was actually wanting to try this out to see if it‘s actually possible with instant film =) Now i don‘t have to think anymore, thank you
Haha go ahead and try it anyway!!
@@InAnInstant max actually did what i was thinking about! so amazing =) I‘ll definitely give it a try
Best In An Instant to date? Quite possibly. This was very Big 4 B.
The more folks in these videos, the merrier, and episodes like this will absolutely always be all-time favs!!
Now I want an instant camera that produces 3d hologram photos, like the cards we had when we were kids.
Living life in stereo!!
Wow - I don’t recall ever holding a smile for 17 minutes and 27 seconds. What a glorious experience!
This is making me beam!! I get a smile any time I think about this day 🤩

This is too much fun you had there. Like, a dangerous amount. Totally in the reds... I couldn't... I can't... I'm so jealous... Amazeballs video!
Haha man we had wayyyyy too much fun. What a group of legends ❤️
16:05 this is the most 3D part of the video, I was actually scared that Ben was WALKING RIGHT AT ME
There is sort of an aggression to that shot that caused me alarm in editing 😂😂
@@InAnInstant it's the train all over again
woohoo!
This looked like so much fun, for real
This is seriously an amazing recap, Ben! So much fun. 🔥
Appreciate you Chloe!!!
Ben has reached cult leader status. Somebody pass me the Kool-Aid!
Ben you truly made me look and sound so good in editing, what an honor to be involved 😎
It was no work at all, you’re a genius my guy!! Love u ❤️
i just have to say, i am OBSESSED with your Intro!
WIP! Thank you! that was one of the first things I worked on in 2019 when I was revving up the channel and it still makes me happy.

I love that Ethan, keep at it!!
Ben is so good at managing the crowd. That’s my takeout from this.
I'm suddenly wishing someone would make a new modern Nishika with better optics.
God this looks like so much fun!
Hi Ben!
You could do a video about double exposure shots, how to make them with instant camera..
Anyway, great stuff so far, great channel!
I had one of those Nishika n8000s- it is so fun to shoot gif images with! As always, thanks for great content!
Aaron! Might be time to make some stereo adapters for the gooooooose 😂 thank you bud!

Hi Peter, Carlos can be found at @carlosbeccera.art on Instagram
Thank you but he did 't show up on insta at that address
You could probably take two color Polaroids with red and blue filters and then layer the transparencies over each other
I'm surprised you didn't talk about making anaglyphs with StereoPhoto Maker.
There’s plenty left to cover! Only scratched the surface in this video. More to come.

@@InAnInstant Did you see the Qoocam Ego kickstarter? I put the sample pics through StereoPhotoMaker and they look excellent as red/cyan anaglyphs
Why not just double expose with red and blue filters? Then 3d glasses could work on a polaroid like in the thumbnail
Hi! We did that in this video (that’s what produced the image in the thumbnail)
