Is Plumbing a Recession Proof Career

- The great recession is here, are you prepared? How many of you have a job that is fully protected from inflation and a recession. Layoffs are happening across major industries but there are a few who are completely protected.
If you are in construction or a skilled trade then guess what? You are in one of the best positions possible. Those of us in a skilled trade, specifically a service position are poised to come through this recession more successful than most others. Keep that money train flowing and find ways to invest in different markets while others run!!

Here in Los Angeles me and my dad run a small landscape service business and business has stayed about the same. In my area gas is $6.20 so we've had to spend more on gas but it's just part for the course
I invested my first $6k into my Roth December of last year and as of now I'm down $1k so that really stings 😅
Thanks for the video man!
Awesome business to be apart of. Gas prices increase so we increase our service prices and all those costs get passed to the customer.
Nice jump on the investing as well. DCA and you'll be fine, 30 years from now you'll be retired on a beach!!
The recession does affect plumbers , it’s a wrap for new construction plumbers.. you can get by as a service plumber but most calls are for emergencies, unless you have water pouring through your ceiling or a sewer back up, people won’t spend money on things they feel can wait
I have to disagree with this. There will be a slowdown in new home construction and some people will start to pull back on unnecessary projects but the lack of actual plumbers we have will just decrease the workload of those who are in the field already. As an owner/worker I have not noticed a slowdown yet, if anything I am busier than before because we still have too few plumbers in this county. Service calls will always need to be completed such as water heaters, sump pumps, boilers, sewers, backflow testing fire suppression systems etc etc. More than enough work out there and this recession will barely affect us.
You're awesome Nate. Appreciate your videos! Definitely considering plumbing more and more.
Hell yeah man go for it!!!
Just got hired as an apprentice at $20/hour with zero experience, they teach from the ground up. They have their own school to teach me and everything. My question is, how long did it take you to feel comfortable doing plumbing and making decisions? I have zero background in anything like this.
Congrats on recently getting hired!! Great question. It took me roughly 4 months of training to be comfortable going on my own, and that was starting from zero plumbing experience. I will say I was very nervous the first month on my own lol but I eventually got over it.
@@PlumberNate awesome thanks man! I’m glad to hear it didn’t take you that long lol
I’m want to take pre apprenticeship course but I’m worried right now
What are you worried about??
Always got to have the multiple income streams. I invested some in crypto mostly just to be involved in it. I also have an online supplement business that I promote online and with co-op advertising. Daily hustle though is in HVAC sales. We do a bit of plumbing with water heater and boiler changeouts, but main money makers are heat pumps, split systems, rooftop units, and service.
Sounds like you got yourself on the right path bro. Multiple income streams is the true way to build real long term wealth. I want to learn more HVAC myself. By the way what cryptos were you investing into? and did you get into NFTs at all?
@@PlumberNate the big ones like BTC, ETH, Doge, LTC, and a few others. I didn’t mess with NFTs at all.
Am a Highschool student and am not going to college going to become a plumber
Smart choice!!
how you feel about RV technician
I think that would be a great job to get into. Very niche opportunity that could also allow you to expand on your own. Becoming a diesel mechanic in my opinion would help with that career path as well and they make big bank!!
@@PlumberNate great point..but i wont be working on the engines and stuff more like the AC/refrigeration and plumbing side of the Rv.
@@twinturbo1995 Nice!! Great stuff to learn about and not alot of people are doing that kind of stuff so I think those are great directions to go for ya!!
Finally applied at rooter rooter today they have an apprenticeship program I’m hoping they get back to me soon it says you don’t need experience. Do you think I should reach out to them if I don’t hear anything in a week or should I wait ?
That's dope!! Reaching out and calling a job after submitting an application is always a great thing to do. This will show you are serious, and when you act serious they will take you serious! Best of luck
@@PlumberNate thanks man I’ll let ya know how it goes
