that's so sad Growing up I always thought I couldn't wait to leave my home town Now that I was forced to leave, I would give anything to settle there again. Some things you just can't get back. It's a beautiful line in so many ways.
@Kel Rowland What's wrong with that? I think you're overthinking it.. Also, life is meaningless, ain't it? What's the meaning of life, Kel? Everyone probably has a different answer. If you ask me, it's to spread happiness to one another. I hope you have a good weekend stranger. I'm glad this song found me tonight. Can't believe I never listened to this girl before.
Nice to hear someone sing about the reality of small town life. Everything now seems to paint this picture perfect country life of beer, lifted trucks, and cut off jeans. When in reality, this is often what really goes on in the smaller, middle and lower class places around. While it's not all doom and gloom in these places, it is still nice to hear someone sing about the more realistic aspects and just real life in general instead of making life just seem like a constant party.
Kacey, For a young 25 year old, its amazing how you can reflect on something that can touch the hearts of many Americans at every age. Outstanding quality in writing words with huge meanings. You deserve all wonderful things the music world has to offer. Great job as always!
I agree...she's wise beyond her years, has been working hard to pull off this debut album, and it's a near-perfect commentary on her generations lives and expectations and realities.
Coming back to this around 9 years after first hearing this. This hits so much harder now with me growing older and feeling like being the only person that left(or escaped) the rural nowheres, while most of the folks I knew seemed to stay and possibly repeat the cycle. Still sounds just as amazing as it did thr first time.
I actually think of it the opposite. I was so happy to escape that safety net and mundane simple life back then but. I think there's something beautiful about people who are living a really content, peaceful, simple rural life. After living in a hustle urban culture for so long and trying to keep up, it feels like a lot of people have lost their purpose. Idk it's kinda a nostalgic feeling for the simplicity of my childhood and I think fondly on that. Some people are just experiencing as adults too :)
She has a great gift for marrying appealing melody with very honest lyrics. Her songs draw you in and don't let go. Easily one of the most talented song writers of her generation.

no it isn't about being a lesbian it's about a woman in love with a man watching him with his lover who isn't her. She's saying she wants to be more like his partner because that way she would be with the man who she's in love with. The idea being that the singer wishes she would have more of the other woman's qualities so the man would find her more appealing and pick her instead. Its seriously a beautiful heartbreaking song about unrequited heterosexual love.
My parents split up when I was 5, all but about 3 people from my graduating class are married engaged with a kid on the way or more than one already, everyone I know goes to church (almost) every week, I have friends who lived or currently live in trailer parks, and everyone who's even attempted to move away has come back around a year later and are now living the same as everyone else where I live, there are people hooked on drugs and overdosing, and there are ones who get drunk and end up as crosses on the highway - including someone in my class less than a year after graduating. Im so glad, I could quietly sit my 'you-know-what" down this evening and turned into CBS,[ givin' up on that boring ProBowl on NBC] only to discover this Beauty. Im not gonna lie, I did not know this kid till now, Soon as I heard Her singing "Follow your arrow" I rushed to wikipedia and youtube to find out more about her. I've just feel in love with her performance in this Grammy, her voice sweet yet strong, her musics..wow. Congratulations Kacey, You're as just adorable as talented.
People are never satisfied. Always want more. Whether it's money, fame, or even love. People leave a small town hoping to fill a void and find something different. When really It was never the place they lived but the need to always want more. Coming from a small town I know. Not until you get older that you realize people are people no matter where you go. And only God can ever fill that void.
she can give a master class on EDUCATIONAL SONGWRITING!!!! cmon!!! best lyrics ever!!!! very CLEVER!!! It's delightful to listen to music and lyrics like these!!!
Not sure why I hadn't run across this til now. Very old school, most before my time and I'm over 50 (not by much.) Still, totally reminds me of my childhood and the expectations and experiences I carried forward from that. Both good and bad. We learn, we grow, we live, and we love. Somewhere in the middle I hope you and I find peace.
wow how did I not know about her before the Grammys?!? Her songs are so honest and beautiful. "if you aint got 2 kids by 21 you're probably gonna die alone, least that's what tradition told you"...so many young women from any background can identify with these lyrics.
Today is Friday, April 17th, 2020 and I only discovered Kasey Musgraves for the first time about an hour and a half ago. THIS is the very first song I heard which immediately led me to binge watching her EVERYTHING! And on this day, she got yet another HUGE FAN! I mean shes ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
Guys there’s so much more to life out there than what’s in your small town. I’m from small town Texas, and moving away from home let me see so many more experiences cultures and things that I never would’ve if I’d stayed. Life’s to precious to be stuck in the same place forever. You owe it to yourself to see the world. Your hometown is great to come back and visit, but it’s not somewhere to stay forever
Such a great song. If I'm not mistaken this is Kacey Musgraves first video. I respect how she let's the song stand on its own by keeping her appearance in the video very understated with the big sunglasses and hair tied back so that we have no idea how drop-dead gorgeous she really is so all we do is listen to the song which is as it should be.
I think Kacey's Follow your Arrow is a marvelous, sensitive and insightful song which needs to be listened to over and over along with her other song Merry Go-round. Truly a talent who sings of life experiences instead of every boyfriend she's dated and broke up with.
Kacey writes perceptive and powerful songs--her music has a message--great voice, lyrics, and melody--great TX artist--she doesn't play TX often---maybe 1-2 times a year, she looks great and wish her great success
If you ain't got two kids by 21, 21までに子どもが二人いなかったら You're probably gonna die alone あなたはきっと孤独に死ぬでしょう Least that's what tradition told you 少なくともそれが、昔から言われてきたこと And it don't matter if you don't believe, それに別にどうでもいい、あなたが信じなくても Come Sunday morning, you best be there 日曜の朝が来て、どうせあなたは In the front row, like you're supposed to 最前列に座るんだから、そう決められているかのように Same hurt in every heart 同じ傷が、全ての心に Same trailer, different park 同じトレイラーが、それぞれの駐車場に Mama's hooked on Mary Kay 母さんはメリー・ケイに夢中 Brother's hooked on Mary Jane 兄さんはメリー・ジェーンに夢中 Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down 父さんは二件先のメリーに夢中 Mary, Mary quite contrary メリー、メリー、どれも全く違う We get bored, so, we get married 私たちは退屈して、だから、結婚する Just like dust, we settle in this town まるで埃みたいに、この街に居座るだけ On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go この壊れた、メリゴーランドの上で、ぐるぐるぐるぐる回って Where it stops nobody knows どこで止まるかなんて誰も知らない And it ain't slowin' down 止まりそうもない This merry go 'round このメリーゴーランドは We think the first time's good enough 私たちは一番初めのものに満足して So, we hold on to high school love. だから、学生時代の恋愛にしがみつく Sayin' we won't end up like our parents そして誓う、決して親のようになったりはしないと Tiny little boxes in a row 小さな小さな箱が、一列に並ぶ Ain't what you want, it's what you know それは欲しいものじゃなくて、知っているもの Just happy in the shoes you're wearin' それで幸せ、自分が履いているその靴だけで Same checks we're always cashin' いつもの小切手を現金に換えて To buy a little more distraction 何かちょっとしたものを買う、ただ気晴らしに 'Cause mama's hooked on Mary Kay だって母さんはメリー・ケイに夢中 Brother's hooked on Mary Jane 兄さんはメリー・ジェーンに夢中 Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down 父さんは二件先のメリーに夢中 Mary, Mary quite contrary メリー、メリー、どれも全く違う We get bored, so, we get married 私たちは退屈して、だから、結婚する Just like dust, we settle in this town まるで埃みたいに、この街に居座るだけ On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go この壊れたメリゴーランドの上で、ぐるぐるぐるぐる回って Where it stops nobody knows どこで止まるかなんて誰も知らない And it ain't slowin' down 止まりそうもない This merry go 'round このメリーゴーランドは Mary, Mary quite contrary メリー、メリー、どれも全く違う We're so bored until we're buried 私たちはひたすら退屈、死ぬまでずっと Just like dust, we settle in this town まるで埃みたいに、この街に居座るだけ On this broken merry go 'round この壊れた、メリゴーランドの上で Merry go 'round メリーゴーランドの上で Jack and Jill went up the hill ジャックとジルは丘を登って Jack burned out on booze and pills ジャックは酒と薬を燃やした And Mary had a little lamb メリーは小さな赤ん坊を抱いて Mary just don't give a damn no more それ以上、不満を言わなくなった
it's so common for people to want to settle down in a small town and yes, it might be quiet and calm, but they don't realize that small towns tend to be suburbs (which looking back at history is a product of racism) It offers no open mindedness or diversity.
@@edenn8452 yup 100% if you're white, straight and cis it's a super loving enviorment, but if you're not or even the slightest bit progressive it's a living h3ll.
@Mickey Merzon ok so lets define "small town" as the equivalent of the suburbs. did you not know that the creation of suburbs was literally because of systematic racism? the first suburb, levittown literally barred black people from living there. suburbs have literally been historically BUILT to be racist and segregate white people from marginalized communities. You need diversity in order to fully internalize what systematic racism means. And keep in mind, just because someone is not overtly racist or prejudiced it does not mean that they don't have subliminal, hidden prejudice towards others. You being nice to a person who happens to be black, gay, etc. doesn't automatically mean you're not racist or homophobic.
Simple, catchy, true song. The story of millions...written & performed by someone who "gets it". Kacey has a long, successful life in the music business ahead of her. Just keep it real sweetheart!
+John Mac @hopeful world yes this song is sad, yet beautiful Kacey can write and compose songs so fine, we can see it in every one of her songs, how she contradicts two different and opposite element and make a great, meaningful song. I feel so blessed that I found her music, it is such a gift
+Jiya Swift Yeah, I discovered her music just recently when I went to see Willie Nelson in concert and she opened for him. I had honestly never heard of her but when I heard her I was just blown away.
Favorite lyric--"It don't matter if don't believe, come Sunday morning, you best be there in the first row, like you're supposed to". Oh, man, can I relate to that lyric being a non-believer in gods. I like how inclusive to all she is in her lyrics. It's like she's got empathy for your every problem.
Mabel Pines And I hope one day more people will see how toxic religion is. I'm sorry to sound sour, but I see nothing amazing about "god(s)". However, I do find entertainment in certain god myths with how people convolute their god(s) into appearing bi-polar. The orchestration by abrahamic god-believers, have their god committing one silly and cruel thing after another to blame and fix something it it's self created. Hilarious.
+Chrystle Ayer Looking at it. It can be toxic. I believe in EVERY thing the bible says. I believe you DONT have to marry girl boy. I also believe you dont have to marry the person you...ehem fuck
Mabel Pines Everything? So you believe people who mix fabrics or cut their hair at them temple should be put to death? That rape victims need to marry their rapists?
"Mama's hooked on Mary Kay. Brother's hooked on Mary Jane. Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down." that is clever lyric writing right there... officially a fan! and I dnt even like country music like that!!! lol
That same line was the first in this song to catch my attention and I had exactly the same thought: the most clever lyric I ever heard. The whole song is a brilliant play on a word.
I love how in her songs she addresses many issues that people are going through in the world instead of only singing about love or heart break. Definitely became a fan!
I just watched the cutest young women singing this song on The Voice 2019. I had never heard the song before and did not Know who Kacy Musgraves was. Not only did the young women (Elliemae) nail it she truly touched my heart and at the same time turned me on to a musician I've have never heard of. But now that I have I can say with absolute certainty I love and I cannot wait to hear more from both. I'm also excited to follow Elliemae's journey on the voice so glad Blake turned.
Lana Del Rey is a really good comparison to Musgraves in this period of her career. Unfortunately, Musgraves seems to have gone all-in on the pop route and lost most of the charm that made her early stuff touching and relatable.
Maybe her return to the grassroots of the music that captured everyones heart about lifes ups and downs will always be there she is so no nonsensical about life very refeshing.
Oh wow, she's from Mineola? I can definitely see her POV for this song! I've been there many times growing up and I can tell you, it is definitely a really small town. I'm proud of her for getting out there and making something of herself! (:
Kaceys music brings me back to my childhood. My moms a huge fan. So when I was little my mom, sisters and I would always drive around and listen to her album. This was one of my favorite songs. It really makes me sad because it was around the time my parents split and my mom moved out. Her music will always have a special place in my heart. 💗
After living in a big city for a while, I couldn’t wait to live in a town again. The peace and quiet was very appealing. I guess it’s a simple case of the grass being greener on the other side.
Hi my name is Miriam and I'm a Mary Kay addict. My rock bottom was when I started using Avon. That's when knew I had to get help. It feels great getting that off my chest.
Miriam Joyal Hi Miriam. Thank you for sharing. The first step towards healing is admitting you have a problem. Just remember this is a safe place where you can talk about your feelings and your problems. As for me, my name is Hank, and I'm addicted to water... and popping bubble wrap.
Update on my addiction. I have finally found a better alternative to my water addiction. Bud Light. I'm afraid I'm still addicted to bubble wrap however. If anything it's gotten worse, especially with the news that they are discontinuing bubble wrap for an unpoppable version. I'm starting to get the shakes. I don't know if I can do this.
+J I think J has an addiction. Being a Debbie Downer and finding everything offensive. Tumblr addiction, if you will. Personally I have a crippling walking addition. I do it everyday. My parents argue with me constantly, saying its bad for me. But at this point I don't care. I'm too lost in the exhilarating life of walking. Pray for me.
Just being honest I didn't know who Kacey was before the Grammy's...wow I'm in love! stunning beauty & amazing talent! Taylor, Carrie, Miranda & Faith must be shaking in their boots! A New Country Princess has been Tiara'd! and she truly sounds like a country artist! ;)
I hadn't heard this song in ages and it reminded me of why I fell in love with Kacey's music. But it also saddens me because at the time, I thought she was going to change the face of Country music and finally destroy the brainless, empty pop trash that permeated the industry. With her latest album, all she did was become another Taylor Swift and sell out so blatantly that it just about breaks my heart. What a shame.
you guys i used to listen to this like everyday when i was younger and i literally spent an hour searching for this song and i finally found it i’m so happy
Until a couple days ago, I hadn't heard this song in several years. For whatever reason it randomly popped up on my page and I'm so happy it did! What a treasure... it's now on my playlist 😃😃
I think small town life is great.. I grew up in a smallish town.. 7-8K people.. Not much more in the surrounding towns. Out in the country. I love the lifestyle. I love the people. I like it being quiet. I like how everything is slow. its not all like this song makes it out to be. I live in south florida now in a place with 180k people. No town. Nothing to do. Everyones drunk all the time. Or on drugs. Gangs. Violence. Murders. People are rude. Mean. everythings so fast. Everyones in a hurry for nothing. I could go on and on..... point is.. I'd rather live in a small country town over this bullshit.
I said smallish. And I grew up outside of town. 5-600 people maybe in what is technically considered the same town it's out of the city limits and has its own name. Idk what to call it.
Hannah Small I grew up in Louisiana and still live here unfortunately. This state is the same everywhere you go, small town or large city. Completely bound by tradition. It makes me depressed.
2020 in the midst of a pandemic a cry for social justice with civil unrest & Kacey’s relatable music without the frills of modern country is a source of peace 💗💗💗
Questioning the cycle of life with 3 chords and the truth equals Country Western Music. Thanks Kacey, you had it from the beginning, and glad you shared your Music !
This will probably go down as one of the best country songs of all time. Beautifully heartbreaking and so relatable with just genuine, raw lyrics. It's really a complex song if you think about it but she pulls it off with such simplicity which is so hard to do. Everyone can relate to this song in some way. We either know people who are afraid to leave their comfort zones and just get stuck and then they look at us as if we're crazy for leaving. Or we ourselves are stuck in that rut and just content with settling and we can't find a way out. Most country songs just glorify small town life but she speaks to the reality of what it can actually be like and it's not always pretty for some, and you have to really respect her for that. Most definitely among the best songwriters of this generation of any genre. She's what makes me still love country music so much even though the genre has drastically changed. She's just herself and that's something that's so hard to find in artists today. Proves country isn't just all about partying, tailgates, and trucks.
I didn't even know this girl existed until I saw her performance at the grammys. I don't generally like country music (I have nothing against it, it just doesn't tend to appeal to me) but I think I'm in love with her a little bit now
Expectations, pressure and the illusion of life. This song is like the painting on the wall we all aspire to. Behind it all there's a mass of paths taken and not taken. Regrets and fears and worries about the future. "It ain't slowin' down" Whoever helped write this song is right on it.
As true as this song is at least for myself I can say the big city is not all that. There's something special about a small town where people actually care.
That's true. When I was in my hometown though, I felt like I had to play a part to fit in. It's quite freeing to be anonymous and not have to always be "on". I don't think I'd like to live in NYC or anything, but a midsized city is miles better in my opinion.
The wordplay in this song is incredible. The first Kacey Musgraves song I ever heard and instantly made me a fan.
BB right up there with Lennon, and Cole Porter as far as Word Play , She Rhymes in phrases

I’d listen to Country if it were more honest like this.
Country music: "Three chords, and the truth."
Damn. That's the truth.
Dreamy Potato Woody Guthrie, right?
The best of it, at least.
That used to be true. Modern top 40 country music is some of the worst music ever. It's borderline propaganda. It's rural bragging.

God this is still one of her best songs. The wordplay is insane and I always resonate with her small town life commentary.
Unbelievably good songwriting
I actually live in the town she grew up in and graduated from. So many people i've seen graduate have just gone the same path as their parents, the town is so unaccepting to diversity and differences, and has very little "economical" growth.
Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I play this song, everything about it, the story and the beat of it just puts me at ease...Love you Kacey!!

Kacey won two Grammys last night... Best country Album and Best Country Song for this amazing song Merry Go Round !!! You go girl
She won 4 in 2019, including General Album of the Year.
Her lyrics are insanely sensible. The intimate plucking on the banjo compels the heart and it doesn't hurt that she's eye candy with a sweet warm soul
A sad song about a broken, dysfunctional family. Unfortunately, there are many families like that today. 😔
wow how did I not know about her before the Grammys?!? Her songs are so honest and beautiful. "if you aint got 2 kids by 21 you're probably gonna die alone, least that's what tradition told you"...so many young women from any background can identify with these lyrics.
I was wondering the same thing and I listen to the country station from time to time. Maybe she's to edgy but I love it.
Me too! She came on at the Grammy's and I was mesmerized. I stopped to watch. I love her now and I'm not a big country music fan.
Omg same!
zooka0619 I found her today...
Men encounter these situations too.
I know. Happened to me about a year and a half ago. Like where did this come from? Just stunning beautiful music.
Great storytelling, deep and sincere. Country music should embrace this real stuff because the feel good party songs are getting old.
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music..
Going back ,it's never the same,
Such a great song.
I have been trying to find a perfect artist like that who writes beautiful songs. finally I found kacey!!
Kacey writes perceptive and powerful songs--her music has a message--great voice, lyrics, and melody--great TX artist--she doesn't play TX often---maybe 1-2 times a year, she looks great and wish her great success
She is going to be playing at the State Fair this year
I know--I plan to be there if possible, she has no more TX dates after that except Austin
Michael Smith
Does anyone else get really nostalgic about the past when hearing this song?
Shadow Madness oh yes
Night Falls that’s me on every song lmao
Im confused, y r u happy?
Yes but it doesn't bring the good times tho......it hurts

tbh this song is a perfect representation of the bad of living in a small town.
it's so common for people to want to settle down in a small town and yes, it might be quiet and calm, but they don't realize that small towns tend to be suburbs (which looking back at history is a product of racism) It offers no open mindedness or diversity.
@@edenn8452 yup 100% if you're white, straight and cis it's a super loving enviorment, but if you're not or even the slightest bit progressive it's a living h3ll.
Really
@@samkitzmiller4302 yeah.
8 years later. Still a very nice song.
Most beautiful song I've heard in years
Vvbbfc onj
Giaccomo Ubaldo Yes, beautiful and kind of sad at the same time.
Agreed. Cant stop playing it. But it also agree it is a little sad.
+John Mac @hopeful world
yes this song is sad, yet beautiful
Kacey can write and compose songs so fine, we can see it in every one of her songs, how she contradicts two different and opposite element and make a great, meaningful song.
I hope one day you will believe :). God is amazing and will help you but you dont have to if you dont want to
Mabel Pines
And I hope one day more people will see how toxic religion is. Hilarious.
Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior cthulhu?
+Chrystle Ayer Looking at it. It can be toxic. I believe in EVERY thing the bible says. I believe you DONT have to marry girl boy. I also believe you dont have to marry the person you...ehem fuck
Mabel Pines Everything? So you believe people who mix fabrics or cut their hair at them temple should be put to death? That rape victims need to marry their rapists?
Her Music really speaks to me. Love it.
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music..
I loved the way she always did something different than expected. The lyrics to this song is exceptionally well-written.
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music..
Ok.
@@kaceymusgraves5683love your music. Best singer, songwriter in years
Wow, I don't think I've heard a song speak to me the way this one does
Ya it really does speak to a lot of people
Lulu Love I can imagine especially if you’re from the country or a small town.
"Mama's hooked on Mary Kay. Brother's hooked on Mary Jane. Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down." that is clever lyric writing right there... officially a fan! and I dnt even like country music like that!!! lol
I TOO AM A NOT BIG COUNTRY FAN, BUT LOVE THIS SONG
Tamuka Investments The real question is did she write it herself though?
That same line was the first in this song to catch my attention and I had exactly the same thought: the most clever lyric I ever heard. The whole song is a brilliant play on a word.
That's how country gets you. Let let one in.....and next thing you know.
+Minxy Moo I doubt it....but if she did she is wise beyond her years.
Ha ha...me too! Her little overalls were adorable too!
Back here after the Golden Grammy night. Listening to this makes me wanna cry
Jonny W after watching grammys i specially came back here.
It reminded me how much i loved this song once.
She won a grammy for this album 2 but didnt get as much recognition for it im so happy this time she is.
Same trailer differant park in case u were wo dering which album it was from.

Knocking middle class American life? Where is it now?
I remember when this song would come on the radio and me and my mom would listen to it on out way to Walmart or somethin' .... the good old days...
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music..
I love the Americana and cinematic qualities of her videos. Kacey Musgraves is the Lana del Rey of country.
She is fantastic
........😎
but... Kacey doesn't sing about drugs, sex, unjustified sadness, or need for a man.
@@dastsototorres She sings about drugs and sex in the chorus of this song...
She has a great point about life. I'm 62 no kids and no husband. No family here that gives me the time of day. God it's hirts your heart
The first time I heard about her is on the Grammy when she won for best country album and now I'm hooked. She's now my favorite country singer.
This woman keeps on giving. I love her perspective.
She's one of my favorites! She's got so much talent! She needs more recognition!
After living in a big city for a while, I couldn’t wait to live in a town again. The peace and quiet was very appealing.
I guess it’s a simple case of the grass being greener on the other side.
Obviously the lyricism is top-tier, but what really makes the song is the tiredness in her voice, the weary acceptance of a bleak life.
she's good at delivering the depression
I don't think everyone sees small town living as "bleak".
As for me, my name is Hank, and I'm addicted to water... and popping bubble wrap.
this totally cracked me up. thanks. :)
Thats Not Funny,She Was Trying To Be Real And You Are Literally Making Fun Her.Ugh,People.Have A Nice Day😑
+J I think J has an addiction.
I rarely listen to country music, But I must say - This is awesome! Greeting from Sweden!
Greetings
Thanks for minecraft XD!!!!!!!!!
Just being honest I didn't know who Kacey was before the Grammy's...wow I'm in love! stunning beauty & amazing talent! Taylor, Carrie, Miranda & Faith must be shaking in their boots! A New Country Princess has been Tiara'd! and she truly sounds like a country artist! ;)
I knew who she was! I'm really proud of her! (: By the way, is Taylor considered a country artist anymore? I mean all of her music is pop..
rodeopac y7
I hadn't heard this song in ages and it reminded me of why I fell in love with Kacey's music. But it also saddens me because at the time, I thought she was going to change the face of Country music and finally destroy the brainless, empty pop trash that permeated the industry. With her latest album, all she did was become another Taylor Swift and sell out so blatantly that it just about breaks my heart. What a shame.
This young lady shows a lot of wisdom in her lyrics for her to be so young when she wrote them.
Best lyricist of our generation, bold statement but I stand by it.
When i want to think of mother and my childhood as a young boy, this teleports me right back i swear. Shed a tear for nostalgia I do...
Don't know if I've heard a song describe small-town life as well as this one. Just incredible.
flawless. god love this child. old soul, she is

There's a melancholy to this song that touches me deeply. I luv this girl, her music, her look, all good. I hope she does very well.
Love this girl's voice. Pulled me through some tough days.
Exactly how I feel about my small town here in the south. Especially the 'don't matter if you believe. On Sunday you best be in that front row'...
When I think I can't take anymore, I listen to Kasey! Good cheap therapy! :)
I applaud her for her honesty
you guys i used to listen to this like everyday when i was younger and i literally spent an hour searching for this song and i finally found it i’m so happy
Omgg same, my sister would play on our pc and i would sing along with it.
Kacey is an underrated genius.
I love all her music but this is probably her most well written song

Until a couple days ago, I hadn't heard this song in several years. For whatever reason it randomly popped up on my page and I'm so happy it did! What a treasure... it's now on my playlist 😃😃
Kacey, thank you a million times for restoring my faith in Nashville.
this song is making me very reflective about life
I wonder how many people actually get the fact that its NOT saying that the small town country life is great.
ALABAMA RTR 7-8k? Lol cute. I grew up in a town of 250.
John12494 It's more arguing tradition for tradition's sake.
2020 in the midst of a pandemic a cry for social justice with civil unrest & Kacey’s relatable music without the frills of modern country is a source of peace 💗💗💗
Hello 👋 Melissa. How are you doing? Hope you are fine
The lyrics in this song are gold
She is so criminally underrated 😢❤
this reminds me of the town where i grew up....I LOVE BUSHNELL ILLINOIS! :D
i miss you guys down there! take care of that little town for me!
This song is a painfully accurate representation of what it’s like to live in a small town, especially if you’ve lived in it your whole life.
Super Talented.
Walks her own path.
Beautiful as well.
Nashville's Rebel Princess.

2024 still listening 😮
Turning 23 and still relate as much as when I was 13.

I don't generally like country music (I have nothing against it, it just doesn't tend to appeal to me) but I think I'm in love with her a little bit now
TOOK.THE.WORDS.FROM.MY.MOUTH! spot on
Wonderful song on so many levels. I somehow managed to miss this when it came out. What a fabulous songwriter.
Expectations, pressure and the illusion of life.
This song is like the painting on the wall we all aspire to.
Behind it all there's a mass of paths taken and not taken.
Regrets and fears and worries about the future.
"It ain't slowin' down"
Whoever helped write this song is right on it.
I love everything about that video and when life was so simple and I also love your song🎉 Grand Prairie TX 👍
this song makes more and more sence the more I listen to it. lol
ok so i have never heard of this girl before, but so far im digging it, i have only heard this and the follow your arrow song, pretty good

I actually thought that was a spider also
Listen to silver lining. Its amazing! My teacher was listening to this and I was seriously digging it!
Kacey musgraves sings the story of my life in so many of her songs
There is an element of melancholy in this song.
This song is so deep and so true about most small towns
kinda depressing
but true
Its meant to provoke you to do something more than give up.
One of the best songs in this year. Grammy's Calling!!!
yes i agree

This was Kacey’s best song. I miss her. There hasn’t been a better country artist since she left country.
