- I had a request some time ago for a video about how to do specific menurvers on a boat so this is the 1st video hoping to provide that!

I had trouble catching the phrase bow-thruster too. When I reverse I give the horn signal (three beeps on the horn). This warms people that they need to take their boats completely out of the water 😁. Liked seeing that Broom 30 yoghurt pot too (my favourite boat after a Norman 32). Another lovely twist, thank you. PS still using your mushroom recipe. Take care both.
great ASMR voice during maneuvering description,
thanks hahaha!
hi Jasmin im from New Zealand and name kevin moxy form youtube and me
and my Daughter nicole think your videos are real good and so awesome and we are good and we hope your been good
Hi Jasmine the little things at the front of some boats you mentioned sounds like you was referring to the Bow thrusters that the more modern posher boats have lol, as you can get these in the Bow & Stern
yes but whats the fun in that ?
Nice little video, thanks! I've only been afloat for 4 years so am still learning. An imminent job (first time) is draining out my coolant system and replacing it with a new water/antifreeze mix. I look at a good number of narrowboat channels but so far have not found anyone who has placed this task on video. So if your boat needs this doing soon and you're up for the challenge...??
we have never done it, we did test it with a hydrometer and try to keep it balanced.
Well done Zeb
Excellent video :)
just watching by the green boat i started thinking... get the hell outa the way! lol
nicely maneuvered! i think i would go mad trying it! lol
just have to take it slow
Amazing bit of steering. Rough rule of thumb is.... when you put it in reverse, the boat will go wherever it wants to. To be fair, bow thrusters would help (especially to get into the facilities), but that's just cheating.... lol
who wants bow thrusters no fun knowing where the boats going ! I feel like the more you practice reversing the more you know your own boats quirks
@@ThisNarrowboatAdventure I find that in reverse, the more I practice, the bigger my mistakes. Reversing in a crosswind is even more fun - I think that's how they got the boat into the Shroppy Fly
There was that time I went fishing and ended up swimming. It was on a weekend away for my first wedding anniversary so I had to walk back to the place we were staying and tell my wife that not only did I not have any fish but needed a new cell phone as well.
oh no!
its identical to using a forklift truck the pivot point is god
Thank you very much for something DIFFERENT.
Very nice driving , how much are bow thrusters to fit on a narrow boat?
it's terrible... I just kept looking at that jumper and feeling envious. It's lovely.
And something informative about boats and hairy men too :)
haha i have an even more garish jumper !
You missed out prop walk!!! Get the feel for that and its like having stern thruster and bow thruster all in one without actually having any.
not connected to the video itself but has anyone made a map of good and more important of where bad places to moor due to bad security or just being unsafe on London canals. i know london quite well but not the canal system and on google earth some places look a bit dodgy. can anyone help !
there is one on the london boat womens page
What sizes are your solar panels? Both how many inches/mm and how many watts and/or amps/volts?
i don't know
BTW... They're called "thrusters" that are used in the front for turning.
yes they are its like having an automatic car far too fancy for me!
Sweet lady i so enjoy your channel . You are very easy to listen to. You are perky have the sweetish voice and you eyes o your eyes draw a man in and put a spell on him. Tell your husband he best treat you proper or this old American will hop a flight over there and steal you away.lol
Variable pitch would be fun on a narrow boat as well (5 knots instead of 4 whoohoo wind in the hair!)😂 that's where the blades on the propeller (more aggressive stance) move instead of higher revs on the engine (saving fuel). of course room in the engine bay probably makes that a dream on a narrow boat.
im sorry this comment went over my head
Bow thrusters ??? ... Reminds me of backing up a trailer ... Easy does it ...
thats the one!
It seems to me that narrow boats have no keel and that must impact on steering, forwards and backwards. Any thoughts, or is this irrelevant.
Peter Blackwood The keel has no impact on steering, normally their purpose on a sailing boat is to stop you being blown sideways when on a tack or beat, and of course to stop you capsizing by lowering the centre of gravity. The rudder does the steering and when going backwards in a narrow boat there is no flow of water over it hence no steering. That’s why Jasmine said that to shift the bow left or right you need some forward engine power. Remember if the bow goes left the stern goes right and vice versa.
wow, i cant do as good a job as that going forward
time and practice sebs very good!
Thrusters, you have bow and stern thrusters on Fancy boats LOL! Squid here, sea and anchor helmsman and for GQ.
thank you that's the word i was searching for, bow thrusters.
Morning 🙂
Lookit Jazz all glamed up !!
!
it's easier than maneuvering a car with a caravan
