Tis a good idea to do. We’ve had a few none working pedestals in our 8 years fulltiming.. No big deal if we had to move 😝.. but we often do the surge protection hookup and check while the diesel engine is cooling down and if good, then dump air bags, level rv and shut down engine. 🤗
To me this was never camping to me camping is backpack into your campsite and the middle of the Grand canyon and passing out on the side of the trail not once but twice
No! Maybe on the same side or even same bay of the rv as the sewage connection, but fresh water has a completely different water connection. You should also used completely different hoses, ie fresh water hose and sewage hose… keeps you healthy. 😛.
Chuckles, for us, we do different jobs. While hubby checks and does hookups, I’m setting up the inside for living, writing down the mileage/engine/fuel info for our records, watching the tachometer to reach shutoff, then shutting down engine, etc. By us doing the same jobs every time, we get set up or broken down with ease.🙂. And yes, we know how to do each other jobs🤣…
Is it preferable to keep the sewer line open or drain and then close? Would one want to drain the sewer and gray behind, right, for optimal flush effect.
...but before you go to all that trouble, be sure you have the supplies you need so you don't have to undo it all to run to the grocery store for a jar of mayonnaise. My mom and step-dad camped. We learned some lessons the hard way. 😊

so that surge protector just has the mains power hookup exposed to the elements? seems like a bad design to me. Rain will for sure drench that entire plugin.
@@GratefulGlamper :) I've just never seen so many in one viewing session. UA-cam seems to present certain themes sometimes. Its odd. Best to you! Safe travels.
I actually thought this before I was going to say something but that is so disgusting that you keep your sewer line hose in there next to your hose used for your fresh water. Just grosses me out
Ours doesn’t not have a built in one as it’s a 2004 model. We’ve spoken directly with Fleetwood and the ones on the new units protect against low voltage and reverse polarity but do not protect against lightning strikes, etc. In FL we wouldn’t be with out it.
You're wasting money on water pressure regulators and kinda on the surge protector that's what a ground is for besides electronics but you only need for them and not the whole system but you really don't need a water pressure regulator at all that's a waste of money and if they told I needed that I wouldn't buy that RV it's just gimmick though
Always wondered how someone connects all the lines. Had not a clue. Thanks!!
Thanks for watching
Wow, this is the first video I have seen
showing a surge protector.
Aaaaahhhh camping, it looks so relaxing, getting back to nature and just enjoying the great outdoors.
Thanks ❤❤❤
I like surge protector and water pressure regulator that I never heard of for RVs.
I was told to hook up the surge protector b4 going thru the trouble of backing in and leveling just in case the electric isn’t good!
We’ve not ever had a campsite where the electric was an issue. (I’m 5 years of RVing). Since our motorhome is large we always park at our site first.

Hmm u know that's actually not bad advice! Will def keep that in mind if we move sites!
I am from India and i am completely amazed by watching that people also live in buses for Fun
Appreciate your safeguarding setup 👌
“WE” 😂
Looks like fun. I'll try to remember this, while I'm staying at a Holiday Inn.

I am impressed epic information thanks
Is your MH's fresh water connection in the same compartment as your sewer hose, sewer hose storage compartment, and sewer hose outlet on your MH?

So many gadgets I didn't know existed! So cool!
That's not camping...
Not even close to camping.
IT'S a lot of prep work to have one of THOSE. Who would have believed it.
👍🏽😊😊🤯🤯🤯.
Good and useful information well orated.
I like when you say we and the guys is doing it all

Camping with a tent is hard work!! This isn’t bad at all!!
@@pattidrier9593 Really? Why would you do that?

Thank you for this video. Needed this

My thought exactly
“We” work so hard… only see one person doing all the work in your posts

Because it's only for you tube. They probably live in a house.

Because she’s setting up inside while he’s doing the outside?!
Lucky y’all 😊🚐
Good tips
Personally I don't want the dump hose hooked up until I'm ready to actually drain.
Is it preferable to keep the sewer line open or drain and then close? Would one want to drain the sewer and gray behind, right, for optimal flush effect.
Keep tanks closed unless actively dumping.
The old royal we!
Works every time
Do you lock up your expensive protector? I’ve been thinking of carrying a lock
It has a metal ring for a padlock
A discussion in one of my RV Facebook groups today. To leave the black tank open or closed? Majority said closed.
Always closed unless actively dumping
Leave it open if you like poop pyramids.
Where did you get those quick-click water connections? That sure seems to make life easier.
Amazon - you can find them here amzn.to/3SqcGAb
@@GratefulGlamper Awesome! Thank you. I have added them to my Want list.

That’s why we travel with a tow vehicle 😉
@@GratefulGlamper you may have shown this in another video, but what kind of vehicle is your tow vehicle?
I thought that the black tank was only supposed to be hooked up when emptying it

Take off work to work😂
So how’s this hook up go when it’s negative 10?
Um, we chase warm weather - so we’ve never camped in sun zero temps (and have no plans to).

What surge protector are you using?

Ever seen a Tesla charging in a camp spot?
This is about the 100th traveling family vid I've seen. Whats going on w that.
There are a lot of travel families out there!

I noticed you use a surge protector and not an EMS Surge protector. Is there a reason why? I am about to purchase either an EMS or Surge protector.
Our rig has a built in EMS
@@GratefulGlamper OK so why do you need the additional surge protector? My last Progressive EMS did both.
To protect from any issues at the pedestal. Our Rv Is nearly 20 years so the surge protection isn’t built in.
That's not how I'd do it!!
I actually thought this before I was going to say something but that is so disgusting that you keep your sewer line hose in there next to your hose used for your fresh water. Just grosses me out
Our fresh water hose is not stored with the sewer hose. It’s stored in a separate basement storage compartment.
How much does it cost to fill it up with GAS ⛽️ 🤔
Not sure since we use diesel 😉
so the clean water in, is next to the doodoo pipe?
That’s water for rinsing - there are signs saying it’s non-potable
How much do you pay for electricity
Nothing
Yes you do.
Your Fleetwood should already have a built in surge protection you don’t need two. Waste of money people don’t understand electricity.
Ours doesn’t not have a built in one as it’s a 2004 model. We’ve spoken directly with Fleetwood and the ones on the new units protect against low voltage and reverse polarity but do not protect against lightning strikes, etc. In FL we wouldn’t be with out it.
One question....WHY..sell it buy a tent and a canoe..lol
Nice
How is this camping?
To each their own. Just because it’s not your definition of camping it’s not camping?

It’s not just a “surge” protector. It also guards against drops in voltage also. Campgrounds are notorious for having bad pedestals to plug into.
