In this episode I actually liked Runa. Because she did something really unexpected. I totally thought she would become jealous, but she actually tried to bring Akane and Yamada closer together.
And it was just too adorable how she constantly shoved chips and cookies into her face.

The author subverts the audience expectation here; I'm sure most of us really thought she'd be the spiteful rival to Akane with a hopeless crush on Yamada (I certainly did on my first watch), but instead her antagonism was revealed to be more of her being a territorial little "sister" who our heroine befriends rather quickly.

9:20 I really, REALLY felt like this was the episode that started rewarding all of us hopeless romantics who believe in the impossible. Few things are as rewarding as media displaying someone seen as untouchable or cold finding that first spark of warmth or comfort in a new, shinier, louder person. When we see their laser-focused life get joyfully derailed by the undeniable appeal of something they never knew they wanted....I got so moved, I ran out of a way to end that. So....yeah. That.

The whole series is wonderful, but from this episode onward its just one great moment after another. One of my favorite little bits was the fact that Akane had gone to the trouble of putting an "out of order" note on her laptop. :p
