As Joe Cockers "With a little help...", this is the one and only cover of "A Day In A Life" I've ever seen / heard. Between 'singing along' what everybody knows, and 'performing it on stage' is an 'ancient ocean, wide' (to use Morrisseys words), which only few are willing to cross. But it's possible! Artist's job is to show how to approach such things.
SO nice to see this again. It disappeared from BBC iPlayer a week after the concert so it's real good to hear and see it agai. Nice one. Neil young, the shaman and rock titan, shows younger folk how it is done.
saw this tour at sydney big day out....main stage....most went to prodigy so it was pretty wide open space and i got a spot up against the back barrier. when he sang this song it was religious....the sound of the organ...it was like john lennon himself was grinding out the notes for us.... but the hilight for me was when he played 'needle' ...next to me were 2 young girls no older than 18....they were standing there with tears running down there faces, both of them....not crying...just tears...
The present generation have no clue what people like Neil and his contemporaries witnessed or experienced in their "wilder days" so that the young of today can enjoy some semblance of peace, freedom and good health. I mean, Neil even met CHARLES FUCKIN' MANSON, Man! (Charley played Neil's guitar without permission!)
watched this some years before, asking with no words what it could mena to me. Found: A Day in a Lie. And how to get rid of it: destroy with no war. Simply use music, an be who you is... a guitar is something you can replace...
I have seen a lot of the greats in concert however NEIL YOUNG Edinburgh Playhouse March 2008 has to top the bill !!!!! HEY HEY MY MY ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE!!!
this is one of the greatest musical performances of all time...destroyed a 50 year old beautiful gibson ( shell be ok) the les paul loved every minute she was alive...the beatles never did this song as good john lennon would be happy
@astroboirap Lol! Neil Young's been rocking out, with that guitar in particular, since before you were born, most likely! I think you need to listen to him some more - he can ROCK!
this as got to be one of greatest performance's at glastonbury.ill tell you what following springsteen, neil young,u2 are gonna have to be something special, don't think they'll do it.
@dvbdanvinbentley wow its been 2 yrs already... and remind me coz im getting confused here. but was it after 'people rocking in the free world' that he made a formal exit with the band members? and then we kept on singing and singing and singing that he finally came back and did this absolutely amazing performance and did this awesome exit... or was it after this he came back and did 'people rocking in the free world' again?

LaREPRISE DES BEATLES EST SUBLIME? CE QU'L EN FAIT EST FORMIDABLE: tout en respectant la chanson progressivement l'indien, le crazy horse, se réveille ce qui ne manque pas de sel devant un public anglais
Is that Peggy on stage with him?
sure
Ive yet to see his equal.
Neil found 1,000 more holes
I keep expecting McCartney to appear and ruin it again.
he got old. its like someone's tragically old dad trying to rock out.
@mrwrestling7 i guess so. he does rock. but its the scraggly long hair eminating out of his aged wrinkley bald-patched head. he looks tragic :S
Roll over john lennon
Glastonbury nowadays is shit. Probably the last good year.
